What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a branch of medical science often considered under Paramedical Courses. “Physio” means the outer part of the body; and “Therapy” means the treatment of diseases by using a step-by-step technique like exercise, electrotherapy, and massage etc. In fact physiotherapist, along with physical treatment of the patient, mentally also empowers him to fight diseases.
Courses in Physiology
In Physiotherapy, you can enroll in courses ranging from Diploma, Bachelor, PG, and Ph.D. Bachelor level course is called BPT i.e. Bachelor of Physiotherapy. The curriculum of course is usually around four and a half years. It consists of the last six months of internships. MPT i.e. Master of Physiotherapy is a two-year course, you can gain expertise in any specialized subject. Specialization can also be done in Neurological Physiotherapy, Pediatric Physiotherapy, Sports Physiotherapy, Orthopedic Physiotherapy, Ocular Physiotherapy, Postoperative Physiotherapy, Cardiovascular Physiotherapy etc.
To get admission in Physiotherapy Courses, you can choose colleges from both Government and Private field. To get admission in Government colleges, you will have to qualify for the state or central level entrance exam. Some private colleges take direct admission.
Eligibility for Physiotherapy Course
For the Bachelor Course: Inter (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) with 50% marks.
Course Duration: 4 Years 6 Months including 6 months internship
Edge Limit: 17 years at the time of Writing entrance exam.
For Masters and Ph.D.- According to the rules of University.

Course Fees
The fees for physiotherapy courses vary from Rs 30,000 to Rs 1,00,000 per Year according to university rules. Some universities also offer scholarship on the basis of merit.
Entrance Exam for BPT & MPT
KIMS Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed University organizes the entrance exams every year to get admission in Bachelor and PG level courses of physiotherapy and nursing.

Salary
In the early stages of the career, you can easily earn from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 working in a Jim, Health Centre, Sports Organisation, Nursing homes etc. Many organizations, while looking at the work of students during internships, keep them as a physiotherapist there only to work in the team of physiotherapist. In such a condition they pay Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 as you are still considered as an intern. When you get the experience you can continue in the same organization at a higher salary or open a private clinic or start a career as a physiotherapist in any Govt or Private Hospital.
In the starting, the salary of a physiotherapist ranges between Rs 25,000 and Rs 40,000 per month in a government hospital. Salary in a good and prestigious private hospital is between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1,00,000 per month. In some hospitals, the physiotherapist receives money on the basis of the patients he has seen. After five years of experience, the practice of own can be started. After this, you can charge at least 250 to 500 rupees from each patient for each seating.
