Methodology

How the IISER College Predictor works

The IISER College Predictor 2026 compares your score and category with historical closing cutoffs from official IISER admissions data. It returns qualified chance bands to help you research a shortlist before official counselling.

Evidence, not a guarantee

A prediction estimates historical fit. Seat availability, preferences and current-year counselling decisions still determine final allotment.

IISER College Predictor FAQs

01How does the IAT Rank Predictor calculate my rank?+

The IAT Rank Predictor converts your estimated score out of 240 marks into an All India Rank (AIR) range using historical IAT marks vs rank trends, student response key data, paper difficulty shifts, and category-wise seat distribution across all 7 IISERs.

02What is a good score in IISER Aptitude Test (IAT)?+

A score of 180+ out of 240 is considered excellent and puts you in contention for top choices like IISc Bangalore (BS Research) and IISER Pune. A score of 150-179 generally secures seats in IISER Kolkata, Mohali, and Bhopal, while 120-149 is competitive for IISER Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, and Berhampur for General category candidates.

03Which institutes accept IAT scores?+

IAT scores are accepted for BS-MS dual degree and BS degree programs at all 7 IISERs (Pune, Kolkata, Mohali, Bhopal, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Berhampur), IISc Bangalore (BS Research program), and IIT Madras (BS Medical Sciences & Engineering).

04How many total marks is the IAT exam out of?+

The IAT exam has 60 questions worth 240 total marks (15 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology). Each correct answer awards +4 marks, each incorrect answer deducts -1 mark, and unattempted questions carry 0 marks.

05Does this predictor support category ranks for OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD?+

Yes. In addition to All India Rank (AIR), our algorithm calculates category-specific cutoff estimations based on official IISER opening and closing rank rounds.
