We collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, phone number, and academic details when you create an account, submit enquiries, or write reviews. We also automatically collect device information, location data, and usage analytics through cookies and tools like Google Analytics to improve our platform and localize your search results.
2. Push Notifications & Device Permissions
When you install or use the Admission Guardian app (including as a Progressive Web App or via Google Play), we may request the following device permissions: (a) Notifications (Push) — Send chat messages, counselor replies, and exam alerts via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). Optional — you can deny or disable anytime in device settings. (b) Camera — Upload profile photos or share images in chat. Only when you choose to upload. (c) Location (approximate) — Show nearby colleges and personalize search results. Optional — you can deny or use the app without it. (d) Storage / File Access — Upload documents for counselor review. Only when you choose to upload. Push Notification Data: When you enable push notifications, we store a device token assigned by your browser or operating system. This token: (a) Does NOT identify you personally (b) Is stored alongside your account to deliver relevant notifications (c) Is never shared with third parties (d) Is deleted when you disable notifications or delete your account You can disable push notifications at any time via: (a) Browser: Site Settings → Notifications → Block (b) Android app: Settings → Apps → Admission Guardian → Notifications (c) iOS: Settings → Notifications → Admission Guardian
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: (a) provide and personalise our services; (b) process enquiries and connect you with institutions; (c) send relevant notifications and updates; (d) improve our platform through analytics; (e) comply with legal obligations.
4. Data Sharing & Shortlist Consent
We share your information with colleges or our consultancy partners only for the purpose of assisting with your student enquiries and admission process. We strictly do not sell your personal data to third-party marketers or data brokers for upfront spam. When you shortlist a college, you may grant that college permission to view your profile and contact you. You can enable or disable this shortlist contact consent at any time from your Dashboard → Preferences. By default, this consent is enabled. If disabled, colleges you shortlist will never receive your contact information. We also share data with service providers who assist us in operating the Platform, all of whom are bound by confidentiality obligations.
5. Third-Party Integrations
We rely on secure third-party services to operate Admission Guardian. These include Supabase (database), Google Auth and Truecaller SDK (authentication), Google Analytics (usage tracking), and PayU and PhonePe (payment gateways for institution ad campaigns). We do not store raw payment or credit card details on our servers.
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions, remember preferences, and analyse usage. You can control cookie settings through your browser. Disabling cookies may affect certain features of the Platform.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including SSL encryption, access controls, and regular security audits to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for at least 3 years, or for as long as your account is active, in order to provide continuous career and admission support. You may request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us, subject to certain legal retention requirements.
9. Offline & Local Storage
When you use Admission Guardian as an installed app, certain data may be stored on your device for offline access: (a) Recently viewed college and course pages (cached for faster loading) (b) Search preferences and filters (c) Your shortlist (saved colleges and courses) This data stays on your device and is cleared when you clear your browser/app cache. We do not access this locally stored data for analytics or tracking purposes. Sensitive personal information (messages, account details) is never stored offline.
10. This Policy Applies to the App
This Privacy Policy governs your use of Admission Guardian whether accessed via: (a) Our website at admissionguardian.com (b) The installed Progressive Web App (PWA) on any device (c) The Android app distributed through Google Play (via Capacitor WebView) (d) Any other platform where we make our services available
11. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws, you have the right to: (a) access the personal data we hold about you; (b) correct inaccurate data; (c) request deletion of your data; (d) withdraw consent for marketing communications; (e) lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority.
12. Children's Privacy
Admission Guardian is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
13. Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, including official college and exam portals. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
