Methodology
The JEE Main College Predictor 2026 compares your rank, category, domicile and quota and gender-based seat pool with historical closing cutoffs from official NTA and JoSAA publications. It returns qualified chance bands to help you research a shortlist before official counselling.
Evidence, not a guarantee
A prediction estimates historical fit. Seat availability, preferences and current-year counselling decisions still determine final allotment.
Use the rank shown on your official JEE Main scorecard. Exact inputs produce the most useful comparison.
Choose the applicable category, domicile and quota, plus the seat-pool gender. The predictor compares like-for-like cutoff records.
Review High, Medium and Low chance matches with the cutoff context available for each option, then verify your shortlist on the official counselling portal.
Questions, answered
The JEE Main College Predictor is a free tool that uses your CRL rank, category, gender, and home state to predict your admission chances at NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. It matches your inputs against 7+ years of official JoSAA and CSAB closing rank data and returns a probability-graded shortlist — from high-chance colleges down to ambitious reaches.
Always enter your CRL (Common Rank List) rank — the one shown on your JEE Main scorecard. Then select your actual category (OBC-NCL, SC, EWS, etc.) separately. Our engine maps it to category-specific quota closures automatically.
The predictor draws from official JoSAA and CSAB seat allotment data spanning 2019 onwards. Accuracy is high for NITs and IIITs where historical data is consistent. For newer institutes or seats with low historical intake, treat results as directional guidance. Actual cutoffs shift year-to-year based on seat availability, student preferences, and exam difficulty.
No. IIT admissions require clearing JEE Advanced, which is a separate exam. This predictor covers NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and other JEE Main-participating institutions under JoSAA and CSAB counseling only.
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) runs the primary counseling rounds (Rounds 1-5) covering IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) conducts special rounds for remaining vacant seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs after JoSAA. Our JEE Main College Predictor uses closing rank data from both JoSAA and CSAB to give you the most complete picture.
Half the seats in any NIT are reserved for students from the same state as the NIT under the Home State Quota. Selecting your Domicile State in the predictor unlocks this benefit, showing you colleges where your rank may qualify under the home state quota even if you don't meet the All India Open cutoff.
We use official closing ranks from all available JoSAA counseling rounds (historical, 2019 onwards). Our What-If slider lets you simulate how your chances shift if your rank changes. CSAB special round data is also included for a more complete picture.
