JEE Examination will now be four times a year according to the new schedule
Last updated: April 20, 2026

The JEE examination will now be conducted four times a year. This new schedule is a decision by the Ministry of Education, taken to provide more opportunities for students in light of the ongoing pandemic. More students will now be able to take the exam, with increased chances compared to previous years.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank shared details on the conduct of the JEE examination. He stated, "The JEE (Main) exam is proposed to be conducted four times in the whole year of 2021. It will begin in late February. After this, it will be held for 3-4 days each time in March, April and May 2021."
Alongside the new schedule, the Ministry has also clarified the syllabus for these exams. The goal is to eliminate any confusion among students. The syllabus for JEE (Main) 2021 will remain the same as the previous year. However, to account for syllabus reductions elsewhere, the exam papers will consist of 90 questions (30 each from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). Students must answer 75 of these questions (25 from each subject).
Minister Nishank also provided information regarding NEET examinations, which are conducted nationwide for medical studies. The Ministry of Education and the Union Ministry of Health both play key roles in these exams. He clarified, "Any decision to conduct NEET examination next year in 2021 will be taken only after consultation with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the National Medical Commission."
