What the JEE Main 2021 announcement meant
The National Testing Agency's 16 December 2020 application notice set out a four-session plan for JEE Main 2021, with sessions planned for February, March, April and May. It allowed candidates to take more than one session and use their best 2021 NTA score for ranking. That was a rule for that examination cycle, not a permanent promise of four attempts every year.
The same notice described a historical Paper 1 format with 90 questions and 75 to be attempted. Do not carry that question choice or its marking rules into a later paper without checking that year's bulletin.
The original plan changed
The NTA notice of 4 May 2021 confirmed that the April session had been postponed and announced postponement of the May session because of the pandemic. Their rescheduling was to follow. The months in the initial announcement therefore should not be read as the final dates on which all four sessions took place.
This note explains the original announcement and its limitations. It is not a complete chronology of the rescheduled 2021 examinations.
Find the information for your own attempt
If an official calendar is tentative, keep that status visible in your notes. A later dated notice can replace an earlier schedule. An old article's recent correction date does not turn its historical exam rules into current ones.
Questions about this archived announcement
Does this page mean JEE Main now has four sessions every year?
No. It describes the plan announced for 2021. Check the official bulletin and dated notices for your own year rather than treating that historical arrangement as an ongoing rule.
Are February, March, April and May the final 2021 exam dates?
They were the months in the initial plan. The later NTA notice records postponements. Use the relevant rescheduling notices if you need the final historical dates.
