JEE Main 2026, the country's largest engineering entrance examination, will be conducted in two shifts between 23 to 26 February at 331 examination centers in India and abroad. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has granted a concession in admission eligibility for NITs and IIITs for the academic session 2020-21. A notice has also been issued regarding this.
This time, students will benefit significantly from this concession. The exam will be held in February across two shifts. Through this exam, 33,655 seats across 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, and 28 GFTIs will be filled.
According to the NTA, only 12th-pass students can qualify for JEE Main 2026 and gain admission to NITs and IIITs. The Union Ministry of Education conveyed this information on 21 January. The 12th board eligibility concession will apply to students who appeared for their board exams in 2019 and 2020, as well as those taking the exam in 2021.
The JEE Main 2026 February admit card is likely to be released in the next few days. Career Counseling Expert Manoj Kr Jha noted that over 11 lakh students sit for the JEE Main exam annually. This eligibility concession will be valid only for the 2021-22 session. The Ministry of Education was made aware of this on 21 January, and the NTA issued a public notice on Monday afternoon.
Students from the 12th board who took exams in 2019 and 2020, and those taking the exam in 2021, will benefit from this eligibility concession. The admit card will allow students to know their scheduled exam date, time, and examination center.
Students who have discrepancies in their uploaded images during the application process are given a final opportunity to make corrections. They can upload new images by visiting the link provided on the JEE Main website. The NTA indicates image discrepancies on the Candidate Portal.
