City College of Commerce and Business Administration Scholarships
City College of Commerce and Business Administration describes financial support from two sources: the West Bengal Government and the college’s own fund. Its Students Aid Fund page says the share of students receiving assistance varies with enrolment, and lists scholarships, registration-fee concessions and admission-mark relaxation for students from SC, ST, OBC and economically weaker sections. It does not publish current award amounts, an application calendar, a selection formula or a list of the schemes open to each course. Treat college aid as something to confirm for the current session, not as an automatic discount built into the B.Com. fee.
College aid and freeship
The college’s description combines more than one kind of support. A scholarship is a financial award; a registration-fee concession reduces a specific charge; and relaxation in marks concerns admission criteria. These are not interchangeable benefits, and the public page does not explain whether a student may receive more than one or how the college decides between applicants. It also says its funds are intended for students in need and that the proportion supported changes from year to year. That makes a past recipient count or amount an unreliable guide to a new applicant’s likely award.
The page says aid funds are linked with a “Free-ship” granted exclusively to economically backward students. It does not define that term, state an income ceiling, list required certificates, or say which course charges are waived. Before relying on a freeship in a budget, ask the college whether it applies to the current B.Com. route and session, what evidence is required, which fee components it covers, and when the decision is made. A concession on the registration fee should not be assumed to cover tuition or the full course fee.
West Bengal Post-Matric support
The Government of West Bengal’s Post Matric Scholarship page describes assistance for eligible SC, ST, OBC and notified minority students pursuing education beyond Class 10. It says support may include full or partial reimbursement of tuition and other compulsory non-refundable charges, maintenance allowance, books and study materials, with the amount varying by course level and hosteller/day-scholar status. The page also describes Direct Benefit Transfer to the student’s bank account. These are scheme-level provisions, not a promise that every CCCBA student will qualify or receive a particular amount.
The government page directs students to the OASIS portal and says the application is verified first by the institution and then by district or state authorities. It lists caste, income, academic, Aadhaar and bank details among documents applicants may need. Its eligibility summary includes category membership, study at a recognised institution and an income condition, but notes that income limits vary by category and scheme. Confirm the current rules shown for the exact scholarship before applying; do not rely on a generic income threshold or an older college notice. For an SC, ST, OBC or minority applicant, the practical first check is whether the current scheme lists the course and institution, and whether the applicant’s category and family income meet that scheme’s own criteria.
A separate 2026-27 state scheme
West Bengal’s Higher Education Department also publishes a 2026-27 Swami Vivekananda Merit Scholarship Scheme (SVMS) page. This is a separate, currently described scheme, and its rules are unusually institution-specific. The page says applicants must have passed Class X or XII in regular mode from a recognised school in West Bengal and meet residence/elector conditions. It limits assistance to full-time undergraduate or master’s programmes begun on or after 1 April 2026 at institutions on the official workbook list. The listed Indian institution categories include Institutions of National Importance, Public Institutions of Eminence, and government or government-aided institutions appearing in the NIRF Overall Top 50 for India Rankings 2025.
The same page explicitly warns that an affiliated college does not qualify merely because its affiliating university is ranked. CCCBA applicants should therefore check whether the college itself appears in the current workbook list before spending time on this application; the college’s affiliation alone does not settle the question. The 2026-27 instructions use an official data-capture workbook and require the completed file and supporting documents to be sent by email in the prescribed format. Sending the workbook is not approval: the page says sanction rests with the competent authority. Confirm the current instructions and institution list on the official scheme page before submitting.
How to check support before budgeting
Start with the college’s Students Aid Fund page and ask the college office which aid route is open for your category and B.Com. session. Request the amount or fee component covered, eligibility and income rules, application dates, documents, renewal conditions and whether aid is paid to you or adjusted against a bill. Keep the response or notice with your fee records. The college page does not supply those details, so a general statement that scholarships or fee concessions exist is not enough to calculate the net cost.
For state Post-Matric support, use the Government of West Bengal’s scheme page and the linked OASIS portal. Apply under the correct category and scheme, use the current academic session shown on the portal, and follow its document and verification sequence. The Government page describes verification by the institution and district/state authorities and says payment is by DBT, so allow time for document checks and use a bank account in the applicant’s name as required by the current application instructions. Do not treat a submitted application as a sanctioned award or reduce a payment due until the college or scheme portal confirms the benefit.
For the 2026-27 SVMS scheme, use only the workbook and manual linked by the Higher Education Department. Check the precise institution name, programme level and mode in the workbook list; a University of Calcutta affiliation does not make CCCBA automatically eligible. The official page says the application workbook is submitted with required documents and that submission itself does not sanction the award. No current CCCBA-specific award amount, college aid application deadline or confirmed SVMS eligibility was found in the official material reviewed. Ask the college and the relevant scheme authority rather than estimating a scholarship from another student’s award or a prior year’s report.
