What Gurukul publicly says about aid
An April 2026 post on the Gurukul Degree College website describes three possible forms of aid: merit-based tuition waivers for high Class 12 scores in B.Com and BBM, government scholarships for SC, ST, OBC and minority students, and possible sports or cultural concessions. The post does not give the marks threshold, waiver amount, number of awards, income limits, renewal conditions, application form or a current written policy. Treat those as college-published options to ask about, not a confirmed award or fee reduction. (Gurukul 2026 admission and scholarship post)
The Government of Karnataka’s State Scholarship Portal currently lists post-matric schemes administered by several departments. Its page names, among others, fee reimbursement and hosteller support under some departments, minority Vidyasiri and fee reimbursement schemes, and post-matric schemes for SC, ST, OBC and other groups. The applicable scheme depends on the student’s category and rules; the portal’s list is not an individual eligibility decision. (Karnataka State Scholarship Portal)
There is a historical institutional clue: a Karnataka Department of Minorities Welfare post-matric record for 2021-22 includes an entry associated with C499 Gurukul College of Management and BBM. This shows that the college and programme appeared in an older administrative record. It does not prove that the entry was sanctioned, establish the amount received, or guarantee that the same scheme is open or applicable now. (Department of Minorities Welfare post-matric record)
The AISHE directory’s 2022-23 survey identifies C499 Gurukul College of Management (C-45018) at the Parvati/PDA Engineering College Road address and lists the Gurukul Degree College website. That historical identity row helps connect the scholarship record to the degree-college website, but it does not establish the current scholarship rules or the applicant’s personal eligibility. Karnataka portal dates and application route
When checked on 2 November 2026, the Karnataka portal’s Postmatric section showed 30 November 2026 as the application deadline for listed Minority Welfare Department schemes and for several other department categories. These are 2026 portal dates, not deadlines for the next academic year and not proof that every scheme under a department shares the same eligibility conditions. The page also shows different last dates for different departments, so select the exact scheme and applicant category before relying on a date. Recheck the portal notice before submitting; dates and scheme status can change. (Karnataka State Scholarship Portal: last dates and schemes)
The portal presents a common application process and asks students for identifiers such as Class 10 registration details, applicable caste or income certificate RD numbers, the current university or board registration number, prior-year result details and whether the student is a day scholar or hosteller. It says an NSP One Time Registration number is needed for SC, ST and OBC applicants in the relevant process. The exact fields depend on the selected scheme and the applicant; follow the live application screen and the department’s document list rather than preparing every item as if it applied to everyone. (Karnataka State Scholarship Portal: process)
The National Scholarship Portal is a separate route for central schemes. Its student page says one-time registration is required for NSP applications and displays scheme-specific opening and closing timelines. A student should not assume that an NSP listing, a Karnataka SSP scheme and a college concession are interchangeable. Check which authority administers the award and whether the college must verify the application. (National Scholarship Portal)
Questions to ask before budgeting on a scholarship
Ask the Gurukul Degree College office for the current written policy for the exact course and intake. For a college merit waiver, request the marks threshold, whether the amount is partial or full, which fee components it covers, how many students can receive it and whether it continues after the first year. For sports or cultural concessions, ask which achievements qualify and what evidence is required. The 2026 website post does not answer these questions.
For government aid, first identify the scheme and department on the official SSP or NSP page. Confirm the category, income ceiling, academic-progress rules, day-scholar or hosteller status, required documents, application deadline and renewal requirements. Ask whether your institution and exact programme are selectable in the portal for the current year. A historical entry for BBM at GCM cannot substitute for a current portal listing or a sanctioned award in your name.
Do not reduce your expected college bill until the awarding authority confirms the sanction and the college explains how it affects fees due. Ask whether the scholarship is credited to you or adjusted against the fee, what happens if payment arrives after the college deadline, and whether you must pay a balance first. Keep a copy of the application number, submitted documents, institute-verification status and any sanction or payment notice. If the college offers a separate tuition waiver, request its terms in writing so you can see whether it can be combined with government support.
The available sources establish that the college website describes possible aid and that Karnataka and central portals publish separate, category-specific schemes. They do not establish a current GCM award amount or that any particular applicant qualifies. Treat scholarship support as a possibility to verify, not as guaranteed funding in a 2027-28 budget.
