Scholarships and financial support at IIM Sambalpur
IIM Sambalpur lists institute-funded assistance, central-government scholarship schemes and privately sponsored awards for MBA participants. The list is a starting point, not a promise that every scheme is open to every student in every admission year: eligibility, award amounts, application windows and selection are controlled by the relevant scheme or sponsor. The institute’s linked scholarship sheet does not state current application deadlines or a fixed amount for its need-based or merit-based assistance. Verify the applicable rules before budgeting.
Institute-funded support
The institute lists need-based financial assistance (NBFA) and a merit scholarship for the top 5% of the MBA batch, based on first-year scholastic performance. The published summary does not specify the NBFA income threshold, the scholarship amount, how the top-5% award is calculated, or when applications open. Treat these as programme-level support routes to ask the admissions or student-support office about, not as an automatic fee reduction. Ask what documents are needed, whether support is renewable, and whether awards can be combined with external funding.
The scholarship document describes these institute-funded awards for the MBA programme. It does not establish that identical terms apply to the MBA in Business Analytics at the Delhi Centre, so applicants to that programme should confirm its own eligibility and funding arrangements.
Government schemes named by the institute
The institute’s scholarship sheet names the Central Sector Scheme of Top-Class Education for Scheduled Caste students, the National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST students, the PM YASASVI Top-Class Education scheme for OBC, EBC and DNT students, and the National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies. These are separate schemes with their own category, income, course, institution and application conditions. The institute’s list does not reproduce those rules or confirm an award for an individual student.
For the 2026–27 academic year, the National Scholarship Portal says applicants may apply for one merit-based scheme and one or more welfare-based schemes, subject to each scheme’s eligibility. It also states that a portal One Time Registration is required. This is portal-wide guidance, not confirmation that any named scheme is currently open to an IIM Sambalpur student. Check the relevant scheme notice and the portal’s live student application page; some dates shown on the portal are scheme-specific and can close before institute admission decisions are complete.
The institute’s list labels PM YASASVI as “Top-Class Education in Schools.” Because that description does not establish coverage of a postgraduate management programme, do not assume MBA eligibility from the institute’s inclusion of the scheme. Check the current official scheme guidelines before applying.
Privately sponsored awards
The institute lists the Sharada Scholarship for female candidates from economically weaker sections, describing an award of ₹1 lakh for academic excellence for five students. It also names IDFC, OP Jindal Engineering and Management, SBI Asha and ONGC scholarships. The institute marks these private awards as subject to company policy. Its summary does not give current cycles, application links, selection criteria or confirmation that each sponsor is accepting applications from this cohort. Check the sponsor’s current notice for the specific course and year, and confirm whether the award can be combined with institute support.
Education loans are a separate option
IIM Sambalpur says students in financial need may use education loans from banks. PM-Vidyalaxmi is a loan application and interest-support route, not an institute scholarship or guaranteed grant. Its current FAQ describes collateral-free, guarantor-free loans through participating banks and interest-subvention provisions subject to scheme eligibility, institutional status and selection rules. The student applies through the portal and the bank evaluates and sanctions the loan; the portal itself does not disburse funds. Confirm that the exact institution/course appears in the current eligibility list and check bank terms, repayment obligations and current scheme conditions before treating this as part of a funding plan.
What to confirm before accepting an offer
Ask the institute which support applies to your programme and admission year, the amount and duration, the application and renewal dates, required income or category documents, and the rules on combining awards. For government and sponsor schemes, use the current official notice rather than relying on the institute’s summary list. Do not deduct an unconfirmed scholarship from the published fee when comparing financing needs.
