KNGD Modi Engineering College sits on a stretch of NH-58, about an hour's drive from Delhi. It's a private AKTU-affiliated college that's been around since 2005, and it operates with a straightforward pitch: decent engineering education at a relatively affordable cost. You won't find it on the NIRF rankings, and it doesn't boast any major international accreditations. But for students with mid-range JEE Main or UPCET scores, it presents a practical option in the crowded Ghaziabad educational belt. The campus life is active, the labs are reportedly well-equipped, and the placement numbers, while modest, are honest for its tier. It's a college that serves a specific need without pretending to be something it's not.

Courses and Academic Programs at KNGD Modi Engineering College

KNGDMEC is an undergraduate-focused engineering college. Its academic portfolio is centered entirely on the Bachelor of Technology degree. You can enter through the standard 4-year program or, if you have a diploma, via the 3-year lateral entry route.

The five specializations on offer are the traditional engineering mainstays: Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, and Electrical & Electronics. There's no mention of niche or emerging specializations like AI or Data Science as dedicated branches. The academic structure follows the AKTU model, and the affiliated Dr. K.N. Modi University uses a 10-point grading system with continuous assessment. Passing requires a minimum of a C grade (5 grade points).

Faculty numbers are listed in a broad range (39-119), which makes it hard to pin down the student-teacher ratio. Student reviews consistently highlight satisfaction with teaching quality, calling faculty experienced and helpful. That's a positive signal, as engaged teachers can make a big difference in a college of this profile. The college website mentions "industry-aligned programs" and "national & international collaborations," but specific MoUs or partnership details aren't provided. Academically, it's a standard AKTU curriculum delivered in what students describe as a supportive environment.

KNGD Modi Engineering College Placements: Packages, Companies & Reality Check

This is where you need to read between the lines. The official figures point to a modest outcome. The highest package quoted is 6.7 LPA, with an average of 3 LPA and a lowest of around 2.8 LPA. Student reviews, however, tell a more varied story. Some claim the highest package can reach 12 LPA, while others say placement opportunities are scarce. The truth likely lies in the middle, with a handful of better offers and a long tail of average ones.

The placement percentage is similarly fuzzy. One review says 80%, another says 40%. A more realistic picture might be that 40-50% of students get placed through core campus drives, with others finding jobs off-campus or through referrals. The college lists a credible set of recruiters, including TCS, Wipro, HCL, Infosys, Cognizant, Amazon, Tech Mahindra, and L&T for core roles. The Indian Army also recruits here. About 40% of students secure internships, which is a decent rate.

So, what's the reality check? Don't expect a flood of high-paying tech offers. The average package of 3 LPA is honest for a college in this category. If you're in CSE or ECE, you have a shot at the IT service companies. For core branches like Mechanical or Civil, opportunities are more limited and likely tied to the recruiters like L&T or JBM. Success here depends heavily on your own preparation outside the classroom.

Fees and Financial Aid at KNGD Modi Engineering College

The fee structure is one of KNGDMEC's main draws. The total tuition for the entire 4-year B.Tech program is between ₹2.45 and ₹2.85 lakhs. That breaks down to roughly ₹55,000 - ₹71,000 per year, which is significantly lower than many private engineering colleges in the NCR.

Hostel and mess fees add another ₹60,000 to ₹80,000 per year. Some older reviews mention mess fees as low as ₹32,000, so there may be different plans. All in, a rough estimate for a student staying in the hostel is ₹4.85 to ₹6.05 lakhs for four years, excluding personal expenses. That's a manageable sum for many middle-class families.

Financial aid is available, primarily through the Dr. K.N. Modi Foundation. There are merit-based scholarships and a notable provision for SC/ST students: if parental income is below ₹5 lakhs, tuition is free, and they also get free messing, a pocket allowance, and hostel rent exemption. A Women Merit Scholarship of ₹10,000 per year is also offered. It's a solid support system that improves accessibility.

A word of caution from student reviews: some have alleged the possibility of mid-semester fee increases. It's not a verified claim, but it's something to be aware of and clarify during the admission process.

Admissions: Eligibility, Cutoffs & Selection Process

Admission is strictly through entrance exam ranks. KNGDMEC accepts scores from JEE Main and the state-level UPCET (UPTAC). There's no separate college-level exam. The process is centralized through the AKTU counseling system (UPTAC) based on your rank in either of these exams.

The cutoffs give you a clear idea of the college's positioning. For the 2026-27 cycle, expected JEE Main ranks are:

• B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering: 25,000 - 31,000
• B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering: 45,000 - 52,000

Cutoffs for Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical will be lower, likely in the 60,000-80,000+ range for JEE Main. UPCET cutoffs follow a similar tiered pattern. These are ranks for a solid, mid-tier private college. If your rank is in this ballpark, KNGDMEC is a realistic target.

The application windows are tied to the exams. For JEE Main 2026, Session 2 results are expected in April. For UPTAC 2026, registration typically runs from late May to mid-July. You'll need to participate in the UPTAC counseling rounds, where you can lock in KNGDMEC as a choice based on your rank. Like most private AKTU colleges, a management quota likely exists, but specific details and fees for that route aren't publicly listed.

Campus, Hostels and Student Life

The campus is spread over 10-20 acres. Descriptions of infrastructure are a classic case of reviewer contradiction. Many say it's "very good" with modern labs, smart classrooms, and a spacious auditorium. Others complain about a "lack of basic infrastructure." The likely scenario? The core academic buildings and labs are well-maintained, but some peripheral facilities might be lacking.

The computer lab, with 300+ systems on a LAN, is specifically called out as well-equipped. The library is adequate, and students likely have access to the broader digital resources of the Dr. K.N. Modi University network, which includes e-journals.

Hostels get generally positive marks for infrastructure. Rooms are furnished (bed, table, almirah), and both AC and non-AC options are available. Utilities—24/7 power, water, Wi-Fi, and security—are reported as reliable. The major gripe is the food. Reviews range from "not satisfied" to "average." One dissenting opinion called it "very good" with daily non-veg, but the consensus leans toward mediocrity in the mess.

Where the campus seems to shine is in student engagement. There are multiple annual fests like AUNAAD and Samavesh, and active clubs for technical projects (MECHBOLTS), coding (Microsoft Student Tech Club), and social activities. Sports facilities are above average, featuring grounds for cricket, football, and even a swimming pool and tennis courts. It's not a dead campus. There's enough going on to have a typical, active engineering college experience.

Student Reviews: What KNGD Modi Engineering College Alumni Really Think

Sifting through the feedback paints a picture of a college with clear strengths and frustrating flaws. The praise is consistent for the faculty—students repeatedly call them qualified, supportive, and the college's strongest asset. The infrastructure and labs also get thumbs up from most, contradicting the few negative comments.

Campus life is viewed positively due to the events, fests, and club activities. The availability of scholarships, especially for SC/ST students, is a major plus noted by many.

Now, the negatives. The management and administration are a common pain point. Reviews mention inefficiency and unverified allegations of "money-making practices" related to attendance. The hostel food quality, as noted, is a frequent complaint. The most significant concern is the disparity in placement experiences. While some students land jobs, others feel completely left out, leading to starkly different reports on placement percentages. This suggests the placement cell may be inconsistent or that opportunities are concentrated among the top performers.

There's no mention of systemic ragging issues, which is a positive. The social life seems healthy. The overall sentiment isn't one of regret but of managed expectations. Students who are proactive seem to do okay; those who are passive might struggle, especially during placements.

Verdict: Is KNGD Modi Engineering College Worth It?

KNGD Modi Engineering College is a pragmatic choice, not a dream destination. It's best suited for students with JEE Main ranks between 25,000 and 80,000 who are looking for an affordable, accredited B.Tech program within commuting distance of Delhi. If your goal is to get an engineering degree without crippling debt and you're willing to supplement your studies with outside coding practice or exam prep, KNGDMEC provides a decent platform. The supportive faculty and active campus are genuine benefits.

However, you should look elsewhere if you're aiming for top-tier placements, cutting-edge research, or a brand-name college on your resume. The placement average of 3 LPA is a hard ceiling for most. Also, if you're highly sensitive to administrative hiccups or expect luxury hostel living, you might be frustrated.

In short, it's a value-for-money option in the mid-tier private engineering space. It does the basics reasonably well—teaching, infrastructure, campus life—but the onus for career success rests almost entirely on the student. Go in with clear eyes, a plan to code every day if you're in CSE, and a budget-conscious mindset, and it can serve its purpose.
