Mewat Engineering College (MECW) is a private institution that presents a specific, pragmatic choice for engineering aspirants. Established in 2010 and spread over 28 acres in Nuh, Haryana, it's a Muslim minority institution governed by the Haryana Waqf Board. Its primary draw is affordability, with B.Tech fees under ₹50,000 per year, and a location that serves students from the Mewat region who might otherwise struggle to access technical education. The college is approved by the AICTE and is affiliated with Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, and Gurugram University. But here's the thing you need to know upfront: this is not a high-ranking, placement-driven powerhouse. It's a budget-friendly option where outcomes largely depend on a student's own drive, with the college providing a basic academic framework. The campus is functional, the faculty is small but qualified, and the placement record, according to student accounts, is modest at best. For a certain student profile—particularly local candidates seeking an economical degree close to home—it fills a gap. For others aiming for top-tier recruiters or a vibrant campus life, it's likely not the right fit.

Courses and Academic Programs at Mewat Engineering College

MECW's academic portfolio is straightforward, centered around core engineering disciplines and some vocational offerings. The B.Tech programs are the main attraction, with intakes of 60 seats each for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Science Engineering. Electronics and Communication Engineering has a smaller intake of 30 seats. They also run B.Voc programs in Automobile Servicing and Renewable Energy (30 seats each), and D.Voc courses, providing a skills-oriented alternative.

The faculty body is small, with 16 teaching members listed as of 2025. The college highlights that its faculty includes M.Tech and PhD holders from institutes like DTU, Jamia Millia Islamia, and NITs. That's a decent claim for a college in this tier. Academically, there's a stated focus on industry interface and research, though the tangible outputs aren't heavily documented. They've signed an MOU with Hind Hydraulics & Engineers and have organized workshops, like one on Artificial Intelligence with APTRON. The college also mentions intentions to collaborate with larger institutions like IIT Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia, but these appear to be future aspirations rather than active partnerships. Yoga and meditation are part of the routine, which is a notable feature.

Mewat Engineering College Placements: Packages, Companies & Reality Check

This is the section where official claims and student narratives diverge significantly. The college's placement cell exists and brings companies to campus. Recruiters mentioned include Infosys, TCS, and HCL, along with names like Honda, Harada Su-Kam, Mahindra, Jio, and Airtel. The highest package cited is 4.6 LPA, but that figure is unverified.

Now, the reality check from student reviews is less rosy. Multiple sources indicate that placement opportunities are limited. One review bluntly states the college does not provide placement opportunities and students find jobs themselves. Another mentions only about 5% of students secure internships through the college. The reported salary offers for those who do get placed are in the range of ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 per month. That's a starting point, but it's not a transformative package.

The takeaway? Don't enroll at MECW expecting a robust, high-placement guarantee. The placement percentage is described as "average" at best. Successful students typically secure jobs in IT companies in Gurugram, Noida, or Delhi through their own networking and efforts. The college's role here is more of a facilitator than a driver. If you're a self-starter who can leverage the degree and hunt for opportunities, it's possible. If you're counting on the college to hand you a job, you might be disappointed.

Fees and Financial Aid at Mewat Engineering College

Affordability is MECW's strongest card. The annual tuition fee for B.Tech in 2024-25 is ₹49,500. When you add hostel (₹16,000) and mess charges (₹28,000), the annual living cost comes to ₹44,000. There are other mandatory fees each year—development fund, exam fees, registration, etc.—which add roughly ₹16,500 annually. A one-time caution money of ₹2,000 is refundable. All in, the total 4-year cost for a B.Tech student staying in the hostel is approximately ₹3.76 lakhs. That's strikingly low for a private engineering college.

Financial aid is available and is a major highlight. The Haryana Waqf Board provides scholarships to needy and deserving students. Most significantly, all female students admitted to MECW are eligible for a full tuition fee waiver. The proposed annual fee for girl students is just ₹19,750. This policy makes it an incredibly economical option for women pursuing engineering. Scholarships are also available for eligible students from various boards.

Admissions: Eligibility, Cutoffs & Selection Process

Admission to the B.Tech programs is primarily through the JEE Main score, followed by the Haryana Engineering Admission (HSTES) counselling process. For B.Voc and D.Voc courses, admission is merit-based on the qualifying examination (like 10+2). B.Tech Lateral Entry admissions are based on the OLET (LEET) exam conducted by HSCS.

The JEE Main closing ranks for 2025 give a clear picture of the college's position in the pecking order. They are not highly competitive, which aligns with its niche. For the 2025 cycle (Round 2), the closing ranks were:

• B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering: 467,980
• B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering: 776,583
• B.Tech Mechanical Engineering: 1,265,681
• B.Tech Civil Engineering: 1,345,127
• B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering: 1,361,840

As a minority institution, MECW reserves seats for Muslim minorities, SC/ST/OBC, and economically weaker sections as per government policy. Admission under the minority and management quota is based on inter-se merit of the qualifying exam. The application fee was INR 300 as of 2023.

Campus, Hostels and Student Life

The 28-acre campus in Nuh is functional. It's not a sprawling, ultra-modern complex, but it has the essentials. Academic blocks house fully furnished, air-conditioned laboratories for all engineering branches, though some student reviews note the equipment may not be the latest. The central library is air-conditioned and reported to have a collection of over 35,000 books, with digital sections and a reading room.

Hostels are separate for boys and girls, Wi-Fi enabled, and have power backup. They include a recreation room, gymnasium, and a mosque. A point to note: the hostel is located about 700-800 meters from the main academic campus. Rooms typically accommodate three students. Reviews on hostel life are mixed—some call it decent, not fancy. The mess provides both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options with an unlimited meal system, but food quality gets criticized in some reviews as being below average and often oily.

For sports, there are large grounds for cricket and football, and facilities for outdoor volleyball. The social life is what you'd expect from a campus in a quieter town—it's not a "happening" metro college scene. The location, while peaceful, is somewhat remote; it's 2 km from Nuh district headquarters, 48 km from Gurgaon, and 80 km from Delhi. The college provides transport facilities, and the nearest railway station is in Palwal.

Student Reviews: What Mewat Engineering College Alumni Really Think

Synthesizing feedback from various platforms paints a consistent picture. The positives almost always center on low fees and the full waiver for female students. For many, this is the deciding factor. The faculty receives nods for being helpful and qualified, especially given the college's tier. The campus is considered peaceful and the hostel facilities are seen as adequate for the price.

The criticisms are equally pointed. Placement support is the biggest gripe, with many alumni stating they had to find jobs on their own with little college assistance. The infrastructure, while complete, is often described as just okay—labs are functional but not cutting-edge. The location's remoteness is a double-edged sword; it's quiet but offers limited off-campus engagement or internship access. Food quality in the mess is a common complaint. There's also a sense that the college is still developing its reputation and network.

Verdict: Is Mewat Engineering College Worth It?

Mewat Engineering College is a classic case of "you get what you pay for." It's a value-for-money institution with a very specific purpose. It is worth serious consideration for:

1. Local students from the Mewat region seeking an affordable engineering degree close to home.
2. Female candidates nationwide, thanks to the near-full tuition waiver, making it one of the most economical engineering options available.
3. Students with moderate JEE Main ranks (in the 4-13 lakh range) who prioritize low cost over brand name and are confident in their ability to self-drive their career search.

You should probably look elsewhere if: your primary goal is high-campus placements with top recruiters, you crave a vibrant metropolitan campus life with endless activities, or you are heavily reliant on college-driven career support. MECW provides a platform and a degree. The effort to convert that into a successful career will disproportionately need to come from you. For the right student, with managed expectations and self-motivation, it can be a sensible stepping stone. For others, the limitations might feel too constraining.
