Moradabad Institute of Technology (MIT) has been a fixture in western Uttar Pradesh's engineering landscape since 1996. It's a private college with a sprawling 13-acre campus, affiliated with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). The institute holds an NAAC Grade A accreditation and NBA recognition, which are solid markers of institutional quality. But the real story here is the placement data—a mix of impressive top-tier offers and more modest average outcomes. The highest package for the 2023-24 cycle hit INR 24 LPA from Walmart Global Tech, a figure that grabs headlines. Yet, the median package for that same year was INR 3 LPA, and student reviews often cite placement rates far below the official 100% claim. That gap between the brochure and the ground reality is what you need to understand before considering MIT.

Courses and Academic Programs at Moradabad Institute of Technology

MIT offers a fairly standard AKTU-affiliated portfolio, but with a noticeable tilt towards computer science. The total B.Tech intake is 636 seats, spread across core and modern branches. The newer specializations—AI & Machine Learning, Data Sciences, and IoT—are clearly the focus, designed to attract students looking for current industry buzzwords. Beyond engineering, there's a selection of programs in management (BBA, MBA), computer applications (BCA, MCA), pharmacy (B.Pharm, M.Pharm), and even vocational studies (B.Voc). The B.Arch program is small, with just 20 seats.

The faculty strength is listed at 71, which, for the number of programs and students, suggests a lean operation. A notable academic feature is the TCS Digital Assessment Process Zone established on campus in 2016. It's a concrete industry link, though its direct impact on the average student's daily learning isn't detailed. The academic culture is what you'd expect from a private AKTU college: syllabus-driven, with success often depending on a student's own initiative to bridge the gap between theory and the practical skills recruiters want.

Moradabad Institute of Technology Placements: Packages, Companies & Reality Check

This is the section where you have to read between the lines. The official placement narrative and the numbers from student reviews don't always align.

Let's start with the positives. The highest package is genuinely strong. A B.Tech student landed an offer of INR 24 LPA from Walmart Global Tech in the 2023-24 cycle. Other top recruiters visiting campus include names like Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Accenture, Amazon, and Cognizant. For core engineering, companies like L&T, Tata Motors, and Adani show up. The college also mentions Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) from firms like Tech Mahindra and Virtusa following internships.

Now, the reality check. The median package tells a more widespread story: it was INR 4.5 LPA in 2022-23 and dipped to INR 3 LPA in 2023-24. The average packages for 2025, as per the data, are modest:

• B.Tech CSE: INR 4-6 LPA
• B.Tech CSE (Specialized): INR 5-7 LPA
• B.Tech Electrical: INR 3-4.5 LPA
• MBA: INR 3.5-5 LPA

The most significant discrepancy is in the placement percentage. The institute claims 100% placement for registered students. However, a review from a B.Tech CSE student (2020-24 batch) pegs it at around 40%. More recent 2025 data suggests program-wise rates: 70-80% for CSE, dropping to 50-60% for Electrical Engineering. That's a more believable range for a private college in this tier. The data also notes that no internship is provided by the college, placing the onus on students to secure their own.

The verdict? If you're in the top percentile of a CSE batch, especially in a specialized track, you have a shot at the high-paying roles. For the average student in core branches, expect a placement process that is competitive, with outcomes clustering around the regional average for AKTU colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid at Moradabad Institute of Technology

MIT's fee structure is clearly tiered, with computer science commanding a premium. For the B.Tech in CSE, the first-year tuition is INR 1,12,000, with total course fees around INR 4.35 lakhs. Other B.Tech branches can range from INR 55,000 to INR 2,20,000 annually. For other programs:

• MBA: Total course fees approx. INR 2.24 lakhs.
• B.Pharm: Total course fees approx. INR 2.82 lakhs.
• B.Arch: Total course fees approx. INR 3.20 lakhs.
• BBA: Total course fees approx. INR 1.80 lakhs.

Hostel and mess charges are additional and significant. The boys' hostel costs INR 62,000 per year, and the girls' hostel is INR 60,000, both including mess charges. When you add it up, the total cost of a B.Tech CSE degree with hostel can approach INR 6-7 lakhs. The research brief does not mention specific scholarship programs, so financial aid opportunities would need to be inquired about directly from the institute's office.

Admissions: Eligibility, Cutoffs & Selection Process

Admissions for the vast majority of programs, especially B.Tech, are channeled through the state entrance exam system. For B.Tech, eligibility requires passing 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject. Admission is based on the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE), now known as UPCET, conducted by AKTU.

Cutoffs vary annually by branch and category. Naturally, B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and its specialized variants (AI, Data Science) will have the highest cutoff ranks, followed by Electronics & Communication. Core branches like Civil and Mechanical typically have lower closing ranks. For B.Arch, a valid NATA or JEE Main Paper 2 score is required. Admissions to MBA and MCA are also based on UPCET scores. It's always best to check the latest AKTU counseling guidelines for the exact year's cutoff trends and seat allocation process.

Campus, Hostels and Student Life

The campus is spread over 13 acres with a built-up area of over 38,000 sq. meters. It provides the basic necessary infrastructure: labs, workshops, a library, and sports facilities. The hostels, separate for boys and girls, are available but come at the cost mentioned earlier. The inclusion of mess charges in the hostel fee simplifies things, though the quality of food is a common variable in student reviews across all colleges.

Location-wise, the institute is in a quieter part of Moradabad, about 5-6 km from the main railway stations and bus stand. The city of Moradabad itself is known as the "Brass City" but isn't a major metropolitan hub. This means campus life is relatively self-contained. Social life and extra-curricular activities will be largely institute-driven. If you're looking for a bustling city college experience, this isn't it. It's a campus where you'll likely focus on academics and placement preparation.

Student Reviews: What Moradabad Institute of Technology Alumni Really Think

Synthesizing the sentiment from available data points paints a picture of a college with clear pros and cons. On the positive side, students acknowledge the NAAC A grade and NBA accreditation as markers of a decent standard. The placement of a few students in companies like Walmart is a major point of pride and hope. The presence of a TCS assessment zone is also seen as a plus.

The criticisms are pragmatic. The most consistent theme is the gap between claimed and observed placement rates. The 40% figure mentioned by a CSE student is starkly different from official claims. There's also a note that the college does not provide internships, which shifts a critical career-building task onto the student. Academically, while the faculty is deemed sufficient, the experience is described as largely syllabus-bound, requiring significant self-study to stay competitive. The campus location is viewed as peaceful but somewhat isolated from urban amenities.

Verdict: Is Moradabad Institute of Technology Worth It?

MIT is a competent, accredited private engineering college in Western UP. Its value proposition depends heavily on your branch, your academic rank within that branch, and your financial calculation.

It's worth considering if: You secure admission to B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering (especially the AI/Data Science tracks) at a reasonable fee. You are a self-motivated student who can leverage the college's industry connections (like the TCS zone) and are prepared to hustle for internships and placements independently. Your UPCET rank aligns with this tier of college, and you're comfortable with a campus-centric, non-metro life.

You should probably look elsewhere if: Your primary goal is a core engineering branch (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical). The placement data and percentages for these fields are softer. You need significant hand-holding or a guaranteed internship program. The total cost, including hostel fees, stretches your family's budget without a clear path to scholarships. You prioritize a vibrant, city-based college experience with extensive extra-curricular opportunities.

In short, MIT can be a launchpad for a tech career for driven students in its top programs. For others, it's an average option where outcomes will mirror the effort you put in.
