Scholarships at NIT Calicut: current notices and application checks
Start with the dated notice, not an old award list
NIT Calicut’s Academic Section maintains a Scholarship and Awards page that links scheme notices, renewal instructions and award results. Each link has its own academic year and application status. At the time of this review, the page listed E-Grantz fresh application and renewal notices for 2026-27, a SILA scholarship notice for 2025-26, and scholarship result notices from 2025. A listing on this page is a pointer to the underlying notice; it does not mean every scheme is currently accepting applications.
For a student joining in 2027-28, the 2026-27 E-Grantz instructions are useful only as a dated example of the institute’s process. They do not establish 2027-28 eligibility, income limits, deadlines, forms or benefits. Check the Academic Section page and the E-Grantz portal again for the notice that matches your admission year before applying. Do not use a past result list as an application form or assume that an award will recur on the same schedule.
E-Grantz fresh application: 2026-27 notice
NITC’s notice dated 9 September 2026 concerned fresh E-Grantz applications for Kerala State students admitted to first year in the 2026-27 academic year. It instructed eligible applicants to apply through the Kerala E-Grantz portal or an Akshaya Kendra and complete institute-level verification through NITC’s Academic Section. The notice gave category-specific annual income limits: nil for SC, ST and OEC applicants; ₹6 lakh for OBC(H); and ₹1 lakh for OBC and General applicants. It also said PhD students were ineligible under that notice. These are the notice’s 2026-27 terms; they should not be carried forward to a later admission year without a new official notice.
The institute’s process included both online and institute-side steps. Applicants were asked to upload documents to the portal, submit a signed application printout and NITC form with supporting documents to the Academic Section, and provide the listed identity, community, income, bank and academic records. Hostel residents had to include a hostel residence certificate. The notice described Aadhaar seeding for Direct Benefit Transfer and advised applicants to verify the bank details. Because the document checklist and submission route can change, use the annexure in the current notice rather than a copied checklist from an older year.
The 2026-27 notice stated that a student could not avail another scholarship or stipend while receiving E-Grantz. It also warned applicants that the income category selected in the first year remained fixed through the course and that a fee difference caused by a later income-category change could not be claimed through E-Grantz in subsequent years. Those conditions can materially affect a family’s decision, so confirm how they apply to your own circumstances with NITC before making a financial plan.
The fresh-application notice gave 8 October 2026 as the last date for receiving hard copies at the Academic Section. That date has passed. This page does not imply that late applications are accepted or that a new window is open. Applicants for that cycle should contact the institute for current status; students applying for a later batch should wait for that batch’s notice and use its deadline and documents.
Renewal is a separate annual step
NITC published a separate E-Grantz renewal notice for 2026-27, dated 11 August 2026. It said Kerala students already receiving E-Grantz for programmes at the institute were required to submit a renewal application for that year, using the form linked in the notice and a signed declaration. The notice also directed students to check their application and claim status on the E-Grantz portal, stated that students could receive only one scholarship at a time, and cautioned against editing the course year or attempting renewal through a different portal. It listed bank Aadhaar seeding and, for hostel residents, a certificate from the NITC Hostel Authority among its checks.
The renewal document contains a declaration page whose printed academic-year text refers to 2025-26 even though the notice heading and instructions concern 2026-27. That inconsistency is a reason to use the current form attached to the relevant notice and ask the Academic Section if any field or declaration appears mismatched. Do not alter a form based on guesswork, and do not treat a previous year’s Google Form as the current submission link.
For a practical application check, match the notice to your status: first-year fresh applicant or continuing beneficiary seeking renewal. Confirm the relevant academic year, category and income conditions; read the current document list; check whether another scholarship or stipend is permitted; and verify the submission channel and deadline. Keep copies of the submitted form, acknowledgements and supporting documents. If the portal status, institute verification or bank credit is unclear, contact the Academic Section using the address or phone number printed in the current notice rather than relying on an older contact detail.
Other awards listed by NITC
The institute’s page also listed SILA for 2025-26 and 2025 result notices for DRCT, CREC-SJET and CREC-SJET weak-student support. These are useful leads for students checking the institute’s award history, but the result notices are not evidence that an application window is currently open. The available page and linked PDFs do not establish a current benefit amount, eligibility rule or deadline for a 2027-28 applicant across these schemes. Read the scheme-specific official notice in full before deciding whether you qualify, and ask the Academic Section where a current call or application route is not posted.
Scholarship support can reduce the cost of study, but do not subtract an unconfirmed award from the fee you plan to pay. NITC publishes fee schedules separately, and fee liability, scholarship eligibility and disbursement timing are distinct questions. Make a budget using the fee schedule for your own entry batch, then treat a scholarship as confirmed only after the relevant authority verifies your application and communicates the award. The official institute page and linked notices are the controlling references for dates and instructions; revisit them when the next cycle is announced.
