The published fee page gives two different kinds of evidence: a 2025-26 schedule for students admitted that year and a 2026-27 schedule for continuing students. These are useful for understanding the university’s fee components, but neither is a 2027-28 first-year quote. Applicants should use the schedule attached to their admission offer and confirm the payable amount with the university before paying.
The university’s Fees page labels the 2025-26 notice for new students and separately lists 2026-27 notices for continuing UG, integrated, FYUP and PG students. That distinction matters. A continuing-student schedule can assign different rates to students in different entry batches; it should not be treated as the price for a newly admitted 2027-28 student. The page also links a separate 2026-27 mess-fee notice for new and continuing students. No 2027-28 fee schedule was present in the captured material.
The 2025-26 new-student PDF separates annual tuition, annual fee, one-time charges, security deposit and hostel charges. For the listed B.Tech streams, B.Arch and B.Design rows, the schedule shows annual tuition of ₹1,41,240, annual fee of ₹17,500, one-time charges of ₹12,750, security deposit of ₹10,000 and hostel charges of ₹20,000. Those are separate columns, not a single quoted “total”. The annual-fee footnote includes a ₹500 EWS support fund. The notice does not justify adding a deposit to tuition as though both were the same kind of cost, or assuming that every student will take a hostel place.
The same 2025-26 table lists different tuition by programme. Its M.Tech row shows ₹70,620 annual tuition; the listed M.Sc. Mathematics row shows ₹47,080; and the regular M.Sc. Biotechnology row shows ₹58,850. A separate DBT-supported M.Sc. Biotechnology row shows ₹25,000 tuition and dashes in some other fee columns. That special row should not be generalized to other biotechnology students. Applicants should match the exact programme and support category printed on their offer and fee notice.
The 2026-27 continuing-student notice is a later schedule, but it is not a first-year 2026-27 tariff. Its rows identify programme and batch together. For example, it lists B.Tech (all streams), B.Arch and B.Design for batches 2023, 2024 and 2025 with annual tuition ₹1,41,240, annual fee ₹17,500 and hostel charges ₹20,000. It separately lists B.Arch batch 2022 with annual tuition ₹1,32,000. These examples show why the batch column must stay attached to the amount: a reader cannot safely select a figure from the notice by degree name alone.
The continuing notice includes tuition, annual fee and hostel columns, while the initial-student notice also has one-time charges and a security-deposit column. Do not carry the latter components into a continuing-student bill unless the current notice says they apply. The hostel notes describe the listed UG/PG hostel charge as covering August 2026 through May 2027; the notice says mess charges are not included and are announced separately. Hostel and mess are therefore separate budget lines, and neither should be assumed for a day scholar.
The university’s 2026-27 mess notice states a mess fee of ₹32,010 for new and continuing students, payable as one lump sum at registration. It also carves out PhD students residing outside the notified year, who pay separately. This is a dated 2026-27 amount, not an amount to add to the 2025-26 tuition example as if both formed one official bill. The useful budgeting point is structural: the fee page treats mess separately from hostel charges, and the mess notice gives its own cycle, payment timing and exception.
The published material does not establish that a hostel room is guaranteed with admission. Confirm whether accommodation is available and assigned to the student, which hostel category applies, and whether the applicable amount covers the same dates as the academic fee schedule. Ask for the current written schedule if a provisional offer, late reporting or a programme-specific notice changes the usual timing. Keep the receipt for each payment and check the university’s current instructions for refund or adjustment terms; the captured fee table labels a security-deposit column but does not, by itself, establish a refund timeline.
For a useful comparison, keep five items visible: annual tuition, annual fee, one-time charges, security deposit and residence. Then add mess only from the matching academic-year notice and only if it applies to the student. In the 2025-26 B.Tech example, the first two academic charges total ₹1,58,740 before one-time charges, deposit, hostel or mess. This is arithmetic from the two listed annual columns, not a university-issued total. Adding the listed one-time charge gives ₹1,71,490 before the deposit and any residence or food charges; including the listed deposit would make the cash amount ₹1,81,490 before hostel or mess, but the deposit remains a distinct line item. The schedule’s ₹20,000 hostel figure is listed separately and should be included only for a student to whom that accommodation charge applies.
These calculations help compare categories without concealing what is recurring and what is not. They do not provide a 2027-28 quote, nor do they settle scholarship eligibility, payment deadlines, late fees, refund rules or programme-specific exceptions. The accessible notices also do not establish one universal first-year rate across every SMVDU programme.
For 2027-28 applicants, the responsible next step is to wait for or request the matching current-cycle schedule from SMVDU. The historical tables clarify how to read the bill; they cannot substitute for the fee notice that will govern a new admission.
