Smt. NilaBen ManuBhai Padalia Pharmacy College (SNMPPC) sits right on the Saurashtra National Highway, a location that tells you a lot about its purpose. This is a college built for the Gujarat pharmaceutical industry. Established in 2008 and affiliated with Gujarat Technological University (GTU), it’s a private institution that has carved out a reputation as a reliable, no-frills option for students aiming for a stable career in pharma production, quality control, or assurance. It’s not the most glamorous campus, and you won’t find it on any national ranking lists. But for a student with a GUJCET rank between 6,000 and 12,000, looking for decent faculty and a direct pipeline to companies like Zydus and Sun Pharma, it’s a pragmatic choice. The gap between the official ‘100% placement assistance’ claim and the 70-80% on-campus placement rate students talk about is your first clue: this is a place where you need to work for your outcome.
The academic offering here is focused and industry-aligned. The B.Pharm program has an intake that varies between 60 (per the official site) and 100 (as per the latest PCI extension). The real academic strength, however, lies in its postgraduate specializations. The M.Pharm programs in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance are the college's calling cards, directly feeding into the core needs of the nearby industrial belt. A Ph.D. program is also offered through GTU.
The curriculum is the standard GTU and PCI syllabus, heavy on theory but punctuated by mandatory industrial visits that provide crucial context. The faculty, led by Principal Dr. Bhaveshkumar S. Nayak, gets consistently positive marks in student reviews. With about 17-25 members, roughly a third to forty percent hold Ph.D.s. The feedback often highlights their accessibility and focus on GTU exam preparation—a practical benefit that students appreciate. The grading follows a 10-point CGPA system, with a significant 20-30% weight given to internal marks based on mid-terms, practicals, and the strictly enforced 75% attendance rule.
This is where the college’s location pays off. The placement story is a mix of solid industry connections and managed expectations. The college portal claims 100% placement assistance. Talking to alumni and scanning reviews on portals like Shiksha and CollegeDunia paints a more nuanced picture: the actual on-campus placement rate for B.Pharm is closer to 70-80%. That’s a decent, honest number for a mid-tier private college.
The top recruiters are a who’s who of Gujarat and Indian pharma: Zydus Lifesciences, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Intas Pharmaceuticals, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, and GlaxoSmithKline. Roles are predominantly in manufacturing (production), Quality Control (QC), and Quality Assurance (QA). For 2024-25, the highest package quoted is ₹5 LPA for B.Pharm and ₹7 LPA for M.Pharm. The average sits between ₹3-4 LPA, with a median around ₹2.5-3.2 LPA. It’s not high-flying, but it’s a start. A mandatory one-month internship after the 6th semester is a key bridge to these jobs. The caveat? Students with lower CGPAs often find themselves looking at roles in medical coding or retail pharmacy chains like Apollo.
Fees are regulated by the state's Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC), which keeps them relatively affordable for a private institution. For the B.Pharm program, annual tuition ranges from ₹59,000 to ₹65,000. Over four years, you’re looking at a total tuition cost of approximately ₹2.4 to ₹2.6 lakhs. The two-year M.Pharm program costs about ₹98,000 to ₹1,10,000 per year.
There is a significant asterisk regarding accommodation. Despite some official mentions, there is no on-campus hostel. Students typically use college-assisted, off-campus private hostels or PGs in Changodar or Sarkhej, costing ₹40,000-₹60,000 annually. Add exam fees, a one-time enrollment fee, and optional transport (₹10,000-15,000/year) for a complete picture.
For financial aid, Gujarat students should immediately look into the MYSY (Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana) scholarship, which can cover up to 50% of tuition. The Digital Gujarat portal is the gateway for SC/ST/OBC category scholarships.
Admission is a straightforward, state-counseling-driven process. For the B.Pharm program, you must have appeared for GUJCET (NEET is also accepted). For M.Pharm, a GPAT score is preferred, though the state-level PGCET is an alternative.
The cutoffs give you a clear idea of the competition. For the 2023-24 academic year, the Round 1 closing rank for the General category through the ACPC counseling was 6777. For SEBC candidates, it was around rank 12,000. These numbers are your best benchmark.
85% of seats are filled via the merit-based ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses) counseling. The remaining 15% are management quota seats, where the college has discretion based on 12th standard and GUJCET marks. The application window typically opens in May and runs through July.
Let’s be direct about the infrastructure. The campus is a single, functional building on 3.7 acres. Student reviews consistently note the lack of extensive sports facilities—there’s no proper cricket pitch or football field. The canteen is small, with limited food options.
Where the infrastructure meets its purpose is in the labs. There are over 12 specialized laboratories for pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and other disciplines, equipped with industry-relevant instruments like HPLC and tablet punching machines. The library has a solid collection, and the CPCSEA-approved animal house supports research. The college runs a bus service across Ahmedabad, which is essential given the location. Social life is what you make it; this isn’t a sprawling residential university campus. It’s a commute-and-study environment for most.
The consensus from review aggregators is clear: SNMPPC is a solid, mid-tier private pharmacy college. It’s not in the same league as LM College of Pharmacy or Nirma University, but it’s generally considered a step above many newer, purely commercial institutes.
Students repeatedly praise the faculty for being supportive and mentor-like, particularly in guiding them through the GTU exam system. The practical lab exposure and the benefit of being near the Changodar industrial belt for visits are big positives.
The criticisms are practical. The attendance policy is strictly enforced at 75%, and internal marks can suffer if you slip. The infrastructure is seen as basic, with the hostel situation being a particular point of confusion and inconvenience. And while placements are good for the region, there’s a clear understanding that the best on-campus opportunities go to students with stronger academic records.
SNMPPC is a specific solution for a specific student. It’s worth it if you are a Gujarat student with a GUJCET rank between roughly 6,000 and 12,000, seeking an affordable pharmacy degree with a direct, practical connection to the state's massive pharmaceutical industry. You’ll get decent teaching, relevant lab work, and a credible shot at a production or QA role with a major company. If you’re self-motivated, okay with a commuter-campus vibe, and clear-eyed about the fact that a 3.5+ CGPA is your ticket to the better placement offers, this college delivers good value for money.
Look elsewhere if you prioritize a vibrant residential campus life, extensive extracurriculars, or are aiming for top-tier national placements or research careers. This college is about workforce preparation, not prestige. For its target audience, it does that job reliably.
