Sree Vidyanikethan College of Nursing (SVCN)

If you're looking for a nursing college in Andhra Pradesh that feels more like a tight-knit community than a sprawling institution, Sree Vidyanikethan College of Nursing (SVCN) in Tirupati is worth a long look. With a total intake of just 70 students across its programs, it's a small-scale operation that seems to prioritize individual attention. The college is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and approved by the AP Nursing Council, and it's also accredited by NAAC, which adds a layer of academic credibility. Its location, about 14 km from Tirupati on NH-205, is rural and quiet—ideal for focused study, though you'll need transport for city life.

Courses and Academic Programs at Sree Vidyanikethan College of Nursing

SVCN offers a focused set of programs designed for the nursing pathway. The main draw is the B.Sc. Nursing, a four-year degree with an annual intake of 50 students. They also run a two-year Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing for registered nurses (20 seats) and a three-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma.

The curriculum, set by the affiliating university, covers the standard gamut: anatomy, physiology, medical-surgical nursing, community health, and extensive clinical practice. The college emphasizes a blend of creative and analytical problem-solving, aiming to build competency across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. They claim the syllabus is on par with global standards, which is a common claim, but the focus on primary healthcare competencies is a solid, practical foundation.

Faculty strength is listed at 18 as of 2025, led by Principal Mrs. S. Anuradha. Student reviews on platforms like Shiksha consistently rate teaching quality a perfect 5 out of 5, noting that faculty bring real-life work experience into lessons. That's a significant positive in a field where practical knowledge is everything. The small batch sizes likely contribute to this accessible, hands-on teaching environment.

Sree Vidyanikethan College of Nursing Placements: Packages, Companies & Reality Check

This is where SVCN makes some of its strongest claims. Official reports state 100% placements were achieved in 2018. More recently, in 2022, the entire 2017-2021 batch was reportedly selected by Narayana Hospital in Nellore. The college's stated mission is 100% placement in corporate hospitals.

Student reviews seem to back up a positive outcome. On Shiksha, the placement rating is a high 4.5 out of 5. Alumni have mentioned that the "Sree Vidyanikethan" brand name and the reputation of trust founder Dr. M. Mohan Babu have genuinely helped uplift their careers. That's not just marketing fluff—it's a tangible network benefit.

Top recruiters named are regional healthcare heavyweights: Sankalpa Super Specialty Hospital (Tirupati), KIMS – SAVEERA Hospitals (Anantapuram), and Narayana Hospital (Nellore). The college also mentions placements with various MNCs, corporates, and startups, but the core recruitment is firmly in the hospital and healthcare sector.

Here's the reality check: the data doesn't specify package figures (highest/average LPA). In nursing, especially at the B.Sc. level, starting salaries are often standardized within hospital systems rather than being wildly variable like in tech. The value here is in the consistent placement record into reputable hospitals, which is arguably more important for a nursing graduate's career launch than a one-off high package. The 100% claim is impressive, but it's always wise for prospective students to ask about the specific hospitals and roles secured by the most recent graduating class.

Fees and Financial Aid at Sree Vidyanikethan College of Nursing

The fee structure is notably transparent and affordable for a private institution. For the B.Sc. Nursing program, the total tuition fee for the entire four-year course is ₹1,34,000. The first-year installment for 2025-26 is ₹33,600. For the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing program, the total tuition fee is ₹67,200.

Hostel and mess fees aren't explicitly broken out in the available data, but separate hostel facilities for boys and girls are confirmed. The trust states that financial assistance is provided to deserving students "irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or region." This aligns with the philanthropic ethos of the parent trust. When you consider the total cost against the placement support, the return on investment appears sensible for this field.

Admissions: Eligibility, Cutoffs & Selection Process

Admissions are channeled through the affiliating university, YSR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. For the B.Sc. Nursing program, eligibility is strict: candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31st of the admission year. Academically, you need a 10+2 pass with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, with a minimum of 45% aggregate in the science subjects for OC candidates (40% for SC/ST/BC candidates).

Selection is merit-based, drawing from qualifying exam results (like AP EAMCET, CBSE/ISC marks). The university creates a merit list, followed by a centralized counseling process. The application window for the 2025 academic year ran from May 27 to June 19, 2025. For the 2026-27 session, applications are expected to open shortly—prospective students should monitor the YSR University of Health Sciences website for official notifications.

For Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, you must already be a Registered Nurse. Admission is via a computer-based online entrance test conducted by the university, with selection based on your rank in that test.

Campus, Hostels and Student Life

The SVCN campus is part of the massive 175-200+ acre Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust (SVET) complex, though the nursing college itself sits on 3.72 acres. The infrastructure is modern and well-documented.

Hostels get rave reviews from students, often described as a "home away from home." They're spacious, well-ventilated, and include dedicated study rooms. The management emphasizes healthy food and a clean environment.

Academic facilities are comprehensive. Labs are a strong point: a 1500 sq.ft. Nursing Foundations Lab with beds, a Community Health Nursing Lab, Medical Surgical Nursing Lab, and dedicated labs for Nutrition, Computers, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology. There's a 2400 sq.ft. library with over 1700 volumes and 70 journals, plus an anatomy museum and AV room.

Student life is active. The college encourages participation in sports like cricket, tennis, basketball, and football at state and national levels. There's a common room, indoor games, and movie screenings on Saturdays. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, operates on an ERP system, and has 24/7 CCTV security with RFID cards. A health center provides first-aid, and transport is available across the larger SVET campus. It's a self-contained, secure environment, which parents tend to appreciate.

Student Reviews: What Sree Vidyanikethan College of Nursing Alumni Really Think

Synthesizing the available sentiment, the overall opinion is strikingly positive. On Shiksha, the college holds a 4.7 out of 5 rating. The praise is consistent across key areas.

Faculty and teaching quality are the standout, rated 5/5. Students repeatedly mention experienced teachers who connect theory to real-world practice. The hostel life and campus facilities also score highly, aligning with the official descriptions of a clean, supportive, and well-equipped environment.

On placements, the 4.5/5 rating suggests students feel the college delivers on its promises. The recurring theme in alumni testimonials is gratitude for the "brand value" and career start the college provided. Notably, the research brief flagged no specific recurring complaints or negatives. That's unusual and could indicate either a genuinely well-managed institution or a limited volume of critical reviews. The rural location might be a drawback for some seeking a more urban college experience, but it isn't cited as a negative by reviewers.

Verdict: Is Sree Vidyanikethan College of Nursing Worth It?

For a student seeking a reputable, affordable, and supportive nursing education in Andhra Pradesh, SVCN presents a compelling case. Its greatest strengths are its high student satisfaction—particularly regarding faculty and hostel life—and its consistent track record of placing graduates into known hospitals. The small batch size is a huge advantage for personal attention, something often missing in larger, more impersonal colleges. The fee structure is reasonable, and the backing of the established SVET trust adds stability.

It's best for students who prefer a focused, campus-centric learning environment over a bustling city location. If your priority is to qualify as a nurse and secure a position in a good hospital without paying exorbitant private college fees, SVCN looks like a smart choice. You should still do your due diligence: try to connect with recent alumni on LinkedIn to hear firsthand about their placement experiences and career progression. But based on the official data and overwhelming student feedback, Sree Vidyanikethan College of Nursing appears to be an institution that does what it says on the tin, and does it well.
