Sri Shivani College of Pharmacy (SSCP)

Sri Shivani College of Pharmacy (SSCP) in Warangal is a name that comes up reliably for students in the region looking at a career in pharmaceuticals. Established in 2006, it’s built a reputation as a disciplined, no-frills institution that gets the basics right. It’s not trying to compete with the giants in Hyderabad. Instead, it serves a clear purpose: providing a solid, PCI-approved pharmacy education for students who want to stay in or near Warangal. The college’s moderate placement record and strict academic environment are well-known among locals, making it a predictable, if not spectacular, choice. If your goal is a stable foothold in the Telangana pharma sector without the cost and competition of a metro, SSCP is a contender you’ll likely evaluate.

Courses and Academic Programs at Sri Shivani College of Pharmacy

SSCP offers the standard pharmacy curriculum under Kakatiya University, with a total intake of around 178 students. The B.Pharm program is the workhorse, taking in 100 students annually. Where the college shows a bit more ambition is with its Pharm.D and M.Pharm offerings. The Pharm.D program is a six-year commitment that includes mandatory clinical rotations at hospitals like MGM Hospital in Warangal. For postgraduates, they offer M.Pharm specializations in two practical, industry-relevant fields: Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Analysis.

The faculty strength is about 33, with a modest portion—maybe 15-20%—holding PhDs. The academic culture is described as supportive but rigid. Teachers are known to be accessible and thorough with the syllabus, often conducting extra revisions. But the schedule is tight. You’ll face two sessional exams and internal practicals each semester, following the Kakatiya University calendar to the letter. It’s a structured environment that leaves little room for slacking. For a mid-tier private college, SSCP punches above its weight in research. Faculty and students have published in journals like Biomedical and Pharmacology Journal, which isn’t something you see at every local institute.

Sri Shivani College of Pharmacy Placements: Packages, Companies & Reality Check

This is where you need to read between the lines. Official claims and student experiences don’t always align perfectly. One portal might cite a highest package of 7.6 LPA for 2024, but that’s an outlier. The consistent figure alumni and most sources mention is between 4.5 and 5 LPA for the top offers. The average package sits firmly in the ₹2.5 to 3.5 LPA range, with a median reported at 4.1 LPA.

Placement rates hover around 60-70% of eligible students. The recruiters are a who’s who of the Hyderabad pharma belt: Sun Pharma, Cipla, Hetero Drugs, Aurobindo Pharma, and Apollo Pharmacy for retail roles. The jobs are overwhelmingly in core sectors—manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control, and retail pharmacy. A few roles in pharmacovigilance pop up. The college facilitates the process, but students often note that the highest packages are rare. The more common outcome is a starting role in production or a retail chain at that 2.5-3 LPA mark. It’s a decent launchpad for the region, but don’t expect metro-level salaries straight out of the gate.

Fees and Financial Aid at Sri Shivani College of Pharmacy

The cost structure is straightforward and relatively affordable for a private institution. For the flagship B.Pharm program, annual tuition under the convener quota (70% of seats) is between ₹40,000 and ₹60,000. Over four years, you’re looking at a total tuition cost of roughly ₹1.6 to 2.4 lakhs. The management quota (30% of seats) is more expensive, reportedly ranging from ₹80,000 to ₹1.2 lakhs per year.

Pharm.D is costlier, at ₹68,000 to ₹85,000 annually, totaling around ₹4.1 to 5.1 lakhs for the six-year program. M.Pharm fees have a wide band, from ₹55,000 to ₹1.1 lakh per year. On top of tuition, hostel and mess fees add another ₹40,000 to ₹55,000 per year. There are the usual additional costs: a ₹1,000 application fee, semester exam fees, and annual library charges.

For financial aid, the primary avenue is the Telangana State Post-Matric Scholarships (Reimbursement of Tuition Fee) for SC, ST, BC, and EBC students. The college doesn’t appear to have its own extensive merit scholarship program.

Admissions: Eligibility, Cutoffs & Selection Process

Admission is entrance-exam driven. For B.Pharm and Pharm.D, you must appear for the state-level TS EAMCET. Your rank there is everything. For the 2024 general category in Round 1, the closing rank for B.Pharm was 42,701. For the more selective Pharm.D program, it was 22,826. These ranks give you a clear idea of the competition—it’s moderate, not intensely fierce.

For M.Pharm, you need a B.Pharm degree and a score from either TS PGECET or the national GPAT.

The selection process follows the standard Telangana model: 70% of seats are filled through the state counseling process based on your EAMCET/PGECET rank (convener quota). The remaining 30% are management quota seats, where the college has more discretion and fees are higher. The application window typically opens in February, aligned with the TS EAMCET notification.

Campus, Hostels and Student Life

The campus spans 2.09 acres on Mulugu Road, which is a plus for connectivity. It’s inside Warangal city limits, not stuck on some remote outskirts. The infrastructure is functional. Labs for pharmaceutics, chemistry, pharmacology, and pharmacognosy are equipped well enough for undergraduate practicals, though some students comment that the equipment could use updating. The library has over 2,000 titles, but its rules are a common gripe—strict borrowing times and some reference books that can’t be taken out. Wi-Fi exists but is spotty.

Hostels are separate for boys and girls, with 3-4 sharing rooms. Reviews peg them as average; they’re clean and secure, but not luxurious. The canteen serves basic meals, with hygiene rated around 3.5 out of 5 by students. There’s a first-aid center on campus, with tie-ups to nearby hospitals for emergencies. The college provides bus transport across Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Kazipet.

Social life is quiet. This isn’t a ‘campus life’ college. They organize an Annual Day and a Traditional Day, but large-scale fests aren’t part of the scene. The overall atmosphere is academic and disciplined.

Student Reviews: What Sri Shivani College of Pharmacy Alumni Really Think

Scouring platforms like CollegeDunia and Shiksha reveals a consistent narrative. SSCP is seen as a strict, academically focused college that operates with school-like discipline. The phrase “they call your parents if you’re absent” comes up more than once. That structure is a pro for some and a con for others.

The positives are clear: helpful faculty, a surprising emphasis on student research for a college of its tier, and a very convenient location within the city. It’s a practical choice for local students.

The negatives are equally clear. The strictness extends beyond attendance to library hours and general conduct. The infrastructure, while adequate, shows its age. And there’s a universal note of caution on placements: the official high package numbers are treated with skepticism. The real-world outcome, as per alumni, is more often a job in the 2.5-3 LPA range in retail or production. One paraphrased student quote sums it up: “If you want a degree and a basic job in a pharma company, this is a safe bet. If you want high-end research, you’ll have to work on your own.”

Verdict: Is Sri Shivani College of Pharmacy Worth It?

SSCP’s value proposition is highly specific. It’s an excellent fit for students from the Warangal region or surrounding districts who want a reputable, PCI-approved pharmacy education without relocating to Hyderabad. The fees are reasonable, the faculty is supportive, and the placement record, while modest, provides a realistic entry into the Telangana pharma industry. The strict, no-nonsense environment ensures you’ll cover the syllabus thoroughly.

However, if you’re aiming for top-tier research careers, national-level placements, or a vibrant campus life, you’ll likely find SSCP limiting. Its strengths are regional and practical. It’s a college that delivers a solid foundation for a career as a pharmacist or a quality analyst in the local market. For that purpose, it’s a competent and trustworthy option. For ambitions that stretch far beyond the state’s pharma hubs, you might feel the need to look elsewhere. Check the latest approvals on the college website and cross-reference placement claims with recent alumni on professional networks before deciding.
