Admission starts with route selection
The first admission task is identifying the exact programme and authority. Courses described as radiology, MRIT or medical imaging may be offered by different universities with separate examinations, counselling portals and seat rules. Find the campus and programme code in the current admission brochure, then confirm which entrance test and application system govern it. A title similarity is not evidence that two colleges share one admission process.
The 2026–27 JIPMER prospectus provides a NEET-UG route for its Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology programme. In the same academic year, GGSIPU’s code-134 brochure lists CET followed by CUET for B.Sc. Medical Imaging Technology and specifies different subject sets for the tests. These are institution-specific examples. They do not establish one entrance examination for all B.Sc. radiology courses, and an exam accepted by one institution may not be accepted by another.
Build a verified application plan
Use the current official notice to note the form opening and closing dates, fee, document format, examination date, score validity and correction window. Check whether the university requires both a central examination application and a separate university application. Keep account credentials and confirmation numbers safe, save submitted forms and payment receipts, and check the applicant portal for status updates. A submitted exam form does not necessarily register you for university counselling.
Before applying, match your subjects and marks to the exact eligibility paragraph. Read the brochure’s test-subject rules carefully: a course may use one set of subjects for its own CET and a different mapping for CUET. Verify that you selected the correct year and programme code on each form. Correcting the wrong course choice after a deadline may not be possible.
Understand merit and counselling
An entrance score is one stage, not the whole admission decision. Depending on the institution, selection may involve an exam merit list, seat preferences, counselling rounds, category documents, vacant-seat conversion and final eligibility verification. GGSIPU’s 2026–27 code-134 brochure states a priority order among CET and CUET routes. Applicants should read the current brochure and subsequent counselling notices to see how merit lists and available seats are actually handled that year.
Create a preference list using practical factors as well as course name: verified duration, internship structure, affiliated hospitals, modalities available for supervised learning, total cost, location and accommodation. Order choices according to your real preference, because counselling systems may lock, float or freeze seats under rules that differ by authority. Do not rely on a past-year choice-filling video when the current notice controls the process.
Keep documents ready for verification
Typical records include class-10 and class-12 certificates, subject marks, entrance scorecard, identity proof, photographs and category or domicile documents where applicable. This is only a planning list; the current brochure is authoritative. Applicants with a different board, foreign qualification, name mismatch or pending final results should check equivalence and provisional-admission terms early. The institution may require originals, prescribed formats or certificates issued within a particular period.
Review every field before final submission. Confirm spelling, date of birth, category, board, subject combination, course code and test details against your documents. Save the filled application and all acknowledgements. If a correction window is provided, check whether it includes the relevant field and note the final date. Do not assume that an email query changes an application record unless the portal or official response confirms the correction.
From allotment to joining
When results are published, read the official allotment notice for the exact round and course. If a seat is offered, check the response deadline, fee payment, document verification, reporting location and conditions for retaining the seat. An allotment can lapse if required steps are missed. If you do not receive a preferred option, read the rules on later rounds and withdrawal before acting; policies on deposits, upgrades and cancellation vary.
Before paying a non-refundable amount, reconcile the offer with the fee schedule and confirm the campus, award title, duration and internship arrangement. Ask how practical rotations are delivered and whether students travel to affiliated facilities. Save the final offer, receipts and joining instructions. If a notice is unclear, contact the admission authority through its official channel and cite the programme code and round.
Use dates only for the cycle they govern
The JIPMER and GGSIPU documents cited here are for academic year 2026–27. Their entrance routes and schedules are examples of how authorities describe a process, not future application dates. Once a cycle closes, those dates become historical. Applicants should start from the current admission page, confirm the latest prospectus and amendments, and check notices for schedule extensions or revised course nomenclature.
Avoid relying on an old search snippet, third-party calendar or previous-year counselling group as proof that a current application window remains available. A reliable sequence is: identify the authority, read the current brochure, complete the required exam and institutional forms, monitor official notices, participate in counselling as instructed and report within the stated period. Admission is complete only when the institution confirms eligibility and joining, not merely when an exam result appears.
