International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIITH)
The IIITH UGEE 2026 result was declared on 11 May 2026. It does not show an All India Rank. It shows one thing: whether you have been invited to the interview - or not. For the roughly 30,000 to 60,000 students who applied, only about 1,000 to 1,500 received that call. The rest received a scorecard that closed the 2026 cycle. This page explains how to check your result, how to read your scorecard, what the cut-offs mean, and what happens after the result - whether you are shortlisted or not.
IIIT Hyderabad runs its admissions entirely through its own portal. There is no centralised NTA-style result website. All dates below are confirmed from the institute’s official announcements.

The written exam was held at multiple centres across India, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Admit cards were released on 21 April 2026. The result window opened three weeks after the exam - fast by any entrance exam standard.
The result is accessible only through the IIIT Hyderabad undergraduate admissions portal. Do not search for it on third-party websites. Those are not official, and in some years, fraudulent links have appeared.
Step-by-step process:
Do not wait until the last day the portal remains accessible. Scorecards are not reissued once the download window closes. Keep your application number ready. It is different from your admit card number. If you cannot find either, search your email inbox for the original registration confirmation from UGEE admissions.
If you face a login error due to a forgotten credential, the portal provides recovery options. For persistent issues, contact the admissions office directly. Their phone numbers are +91 (40) 6653 1250 and +91 (40) 6653 1337. Office hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM IST. Email queries can be sent to [email protected]. Have your application number and registered email address ready when you call or write.
The scorecard is a simple document. It is not designed to place you on a national percentile ladder. It is designed to give you one binary answer.
The UGEE scorecard typically includes:
There is no All India Rank on the UGEE scorecard. IIIT Hyderabad does not release a public rank list for the written exam. The shortlisting is based on a two-step cut-off system:
If your scorecard says “Not Shortlisted”, it means you did not cross one or both of these thresholds. If it says “Shortlisted”, your written exam score ceases to matter. Every shortlisted candidate enters the interview on equal footing - a candidate with 70 in REAP has no advantage over one with 68.1. Both received an interview call. Final admission offers depend entirely on interview performance.
IIIT Hyderabad does not publish cut-offs before the result. They emerge only after the shortlisting is complete. However, the past few years provide a reliable range. Cut-offs are always released as two separate numbers: SUPR qualifying threshold and REAP qualifying threshold. These vary by gender because the institute targets at least 25% women among interview shortlists.
UGEE Cut-Offs for Interview Shortlisting
| Year | Section | Male Cut-Off (marks) | Female Cut-Off (marks) | Total Marks Possible |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | SUPR | 12.75 | 12.75 | 40 |
| 2025 | REAP | 68 | 64.5 | 100 |
| 2024 | SUPR | 14 | 14 | 40 |
| 2024 | REAP | 66 | 63 | 100 |
| 2023 | SUPR | 22 | 22 | 50 |
| 2023 | REAP | 68 | 63 | 100 |
| 2022 | Overall (single cut-off) | 98/150 | 98/150 | 150 |
| 2021 | Overall (single cut-off) | 85/150 | 85/150 | 150 |
(Note: In 2023 and earlier, SUPR had 50 questions for 50 marks. From 2024, the pattern shifted to 40 SUPR questions for 40 marks. REAP has remained at 50 questions for 100 marks since 2018.)
The 2026 cut-offs had not been publicly released in detail by 14 June 2026, but the written result was out. If you were shortlisted, you already know you cleared both thresholds. If you were not, your scores fell below one of them. Do not speculate about a “near-miss” - the system is binary.
Many students misunderstand how the UGEE result translates into an interview call. Here is the exact mechanism, stated in the official exam announcement:
This means that a high SUPR score is useless if REAP was short. It also means that a candidate who scraped past the SUPR cut-off but excelled in REAP is treated identically to someone who aced both sections. The interview is the great equaliser.
Interviews for UGEE 2026 were held on campus from 4 to 6 June 2026. If you were shortlisted, you have already attended your interview. The next step is the final selection result.
After all interviews conclude, IIIT Hyderabad compiles a final merit list. This is not a rank based on written exam scores. It is based entirely on interview assessment. The institute announces the first round of seat allotment, typically in mid-to-late June. In 2025, round 1 was declared on 19 June.
Candidates who receive an offer must accept it by paying the first semester fee within the specified deadline. If you decline or miss the deadline, the seat is released to the next candidate on the list. The institute conducts multiple rounds of seat allotment - usually three - before the process concludes. If you are not offered a seat in round 1, you can stay in the pool for subsequent rounds by giving consent through the portal.
A one-time payment of ₹10,000 for seat allocation and ₹10,000 as an advance towards tuition fee is required for continuing to the second and further rounds. This amount is adjusted against your first semester fee if you are eventually allotted a seat.
Seat allotment is based on your programme preferences, which you submitted with your UGEE application form. The order you chose matters. If you are offered your first preference, you cannot slide to another branch in later rounds. If you do not receive any offer after all rounds, the cycle ends.
The dual-degree programmes offered through UGEE and their seats for 2026 are:
| Programme Code | B.Tech Degree | MS by Research Degree | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|
| CSD | Computer Science & Engineering | Computer Science & Engineering | 35 |
| ECD | Electronics & Communication Engineering | Electronics & Communication Engineering | 25 |
| CLD | Computer Science | Computational Linguistics | 15 |
| CND | Computer Science | Computational Natural Sciences | 15 |
| CHD | Computer Science | Computing & Human Sciences | 15 |
| CGD | Computer Science | Geospatial Technology | 15 |
Total UGEE seats: 120. This is a small cohort. The competition for CSD is the most intense, with closing ranks consistently under 100 in the final interview-based merit list.
The UGEE interview is unlike any other undergraduate admissions interview in India. It is not a personality assessment. It is a technical conversation. Professors gave candidates problems - often on a whiteboard - and observed how they thought. They wanted to see:
Some candidates were asked to solve physics or mathematics puzzles. Others discussed their UGEE application essays or personal projects. The panel often started with a question from the candidate’s own form and then drilled deeper. According to past toppers, many interviewers used a “linked questioning” style: each follow-up question depended on how the candidate answered the previous one. The goal was to probe the limits of what the candidate understood, not to catch them out.
If you are awaiting your final result, know this: the interview was not scored on whether you got the “right” answer. It was scored on how you approached the problem and whether you could refine your thinking when challenged. That is the core of research training, and IIIT Hyderabad selects for it explicitly.
If you receive an offer, you will need to confirm your seat by paying the first semester tuition fee within the deadline stated in the offer letter.
The tuition fee for dual-degree programmes for the academic year 2026-27 is ₹5,00,000 per annum. This may be revised annually. In addition to tuition:
For the fifth year of the programme, tuition fee support is expected to be provided by the research advisor, research centre, or the institute for all meritorious students. The total annual outlay - including living expenses - works out to roughly ₹6,30,000 to ₹6,50,000.
IIIT Hyderabad offers financial assistance. The institute has a special financial assistance scheme (ISFAS) that provides need-based support on a payback-after-graduation basis. An SBI scholar loan facility is available through the on-campus SBI branch, with loans of up to ₹40 lakh, no collateral required, and a repayment period of up to 15 years. These details are shared with admitted students during the orientation process. Do not let financial concerns prevent you from accepting an offer if you receive one.
Not receiving an interview call from UGEE is a closed door for this cycle, but it is not the only route to IIIT Hyderabad. The institute admits students through six other channels:
If your interest in research-oriented computer science remains strong, consider reappearing for UGEE in 2027. There is no restriction on the number of attempts, provided you meet the eligibility condition of having passed Class 12 between 2023 and June 2027.
Official application numbers are not published, but estimates from student communities and preparation platforms consistently place UGEE applicants at 30,000 to 60,000 annually. With 120 seats available, the overall selection ratio is approximately 0.2% to 0.4% - comparable to the most selective programmes in the country. The written exam alone eliminates over 97% of applicants. The interview further filters roughly 8 to 12 candidates per available seat.
These numbers are not shared to discourage. They are shared so you understand what you achieved if you received an interview call - and so you know that not receiving one is not a reflection of your capability. UGEE tests a very specific combination of skills. Many students who do brilliantly in JEE Advanced do not clear the UGEE written exam, because REAP demands a thinking style that JEE does not train for. Treat these as independent assessments.
