NEET 2026: Entrance exam is on 13 September, 5 things to be taken care of
Last updated: April 20, 2026

The government has confirmed there will be no change to the NEET exam date. The examination for admission to medical courses will be held on September 13 between 2 pm and 5 pm. All guidelines issued in the wake of COVID-19 will be followed.
Students must arrive at examination centers one hour early to complete all procedures before entering the hall. The exam will be conducted with strict social distancing rules. All rules and guidelines will be printed on student admit cards, which will be released soon.
Admission to various medical courses in government and private colleges is granted solely through the NEET examination. The National Testing Agency conducts this entrance exam. This year, around 16 lakh students have applied.
Guidelines already issued state that students must wear face masks and gloves. Candidates must bring their own transparent water bottle and personal hand sanitizer.
The Supreme Court, hearing a petition for establishing examination centers in Gulf countries, refused to issue instructions to the Central Government. However, student opposition to the NEET exam continues, with many political parties questioning the government. Over 4,000 students recently held a day-long hunger strike demanding the exam's cancellation.
How to manage your time with self-care
Hard work is essential for good marks. But don't lose yourself in the race for studies. Here are some tips to help you score well while taking care of your health.
1. Good sleep is crucial: Compromising sleep for exam preparation will not improve your results. A recent study revealed that lack of sleep weakens memory and impairs thinking and understanding.
2. Distribute study time: Don't read continuously. Break your study time into chunks. Study for two hours, then take a half-hour break. Refresh your mind before evening study sessions. Play a game or talk to friends. This relaxes your mind and improves focus.
3. Ask questions immediately: If a question arises while studying, clear it up right away. Don't save it for later.
The more practice tests you take before the exam, the better your results will be. Tests show you how much preparation is done and how much remains.
