Preparation

Students need to prepare mentally from the 10th standard to enter this field. Studying Medical Science-related subjects is essential for admission into Pharma courses. Students should have studied biology, chemistry, and zoology in Class XII with a minimum of fifty percent marks. Admission is usually based on cut-off scores. Different admission procedures are adopted for D.Pharma and B.Pharma.

Courses in Pharmacy

Institutes typically offer a two-year diploma course in pharmacy (D.Pharma), teaching students the basics. At the graduation level, there is a four-year Bachelor's degree course (B.Pharma), which covers various aspects of pharmaceutical science in detail.

The PG level (M.Pharma) begins the specialization phase. Students gain skills in pharmacology, pharmaceuticals, hospital pharmacy, quality assurance, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical research, quality improvement programs, pharmaceutical management, and herbal drug technology. A Ph.D. involves research on drugs and related areas.

Salary in Pharma Industry

B.Pharma degree holders usually secure jobs with salaries of ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 initially. Diploma holders (D.Pharma) can expect ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 per month at the entry level in sales and marketing roles at medical centers or pharmaceutical marketing companies. Research-level students are offered packages of ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 per month.
