MBA vs PGDM. On exiting college, a question arises: MBA (Master of Business Administration) or PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management). Many graduates are confused about the difference between an MBA and a PGDM and which course they should pursue. It's important to understand the two specialties. The purpose of both courses is to build a career in management. The key difference lies in the award: a Degree versus a Diploma.

Many students hesitate at the word 'Diploma'. Let's clarify. When a teaching institution is autonomous (not affiliated with any university) and offers business administration courses, it cannot award an MBA degree. An MBA degree, however, can only be awarded by an educational institution affiliated with a university. These institutions follow the university's prescribed syllabus and guidelines. Generally, a two-year PGDM is considered equivalent to an MBA. A one-year PGDM course is not.

PGDM
