Tips for JEE Examination
Last updated: April 20, 2026
The admit card for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is now available on the official CBSE website, jeemain.nic.in. If you're taking the exam this year, here are some tips to help you achieve the best possible results.
- Focus on your goal. A strong, unwavering desire to succeed is essential. Eliminate distractions that stand between you and your target.
- Maintain a positive attitude. Believe in yourself. Work hard, stay firm, and trust that success will follow.
- There is no substitute for hard work. Fearless effort is the basic formula for success. Work diligently day and night, and never give up.
- Remember, an exam does not define your life. Your efforts should continue regardless of the outcome. Mistakes happen-we learn from them. Once you realize a mistake, take steps to correct it.
- Patience is crucial. We often accept defeat if we fail without giving our 100%. Don't be disappointed by failure. Understand it's a step toward success.
- Understand theorems and formulas. This is key for IIT JEE. Try to grasp all the 'Why' and 'How'; the rest will follow.
- To score well, you must solve numerical problems. Practice questions from physics, chemistry, and maths. Set deadlines for solving them to improve your proficiency.
- Adopt a streamlined process for numerical questions. Step-by-step solutions are incredibly helpful for tackling logical problems.
- Revision is vital during preparation. Even with clear concepts, a lack of revision can ruin your efforts in the exam hall. You can revise formulas and concepts directly, but the best method is to solve diverse problems. This forces you to apply concepts, revising them automatically.
- Don't focus only on selected topics. You cannot predict which topics will carry more weight in the exam. Your focus should be on the entire syllabus.
- Give proper importance to NCERT books for 11th and 12th grade. They are the best for JEE Main preparation. Analysts note that around 70% of questions are derived from NCERT books.
- Pay attention to speed and time management. Success in JEE heavily depends on it. For online tests, check your system for technical issues beforehand. In offline exams, manage your time carefully. Keep a clock visible, but don't let anxiety over time distract you. Practice to increase your speed.
- Time management during preparation is also critical. Practice consistently. There shouldn't be a day without practice-this is when you'll identify your shortcomings.
- Solving previous years' problems is essential. It helps you understand the paper pattern.
