Start with AIIMS and the current notice
AIIMS New Delhi's official forms page lists a Scholarship Form under its Accounts section. That is useful confirmation that the institute has a scholarship-related administrative form, but the page does not state an award amount, eligibility conditions, available seats or a current application window. Treat the form as a contact and process lead, not proof that a grant is open or that every course is eligible. Before including aid in a fee budget, ask the Accounts or Academic Section for the current notice and confirm whether it applies to your programme, year of study and category. The academic notices page also contains older scholarship circulars; an old notice does not establish current-cycle availability.
The practical first step is to identify the exact programme and ask which office verifies the application. Keep the current prospectus, fee demand, identity and category documents, bank details and any income or academic certificates ready, but submit only documents specified by the live notice. Save the notice and acknowledgement. If the form or eligibility instructions are unclear, get written clarification before assuming that a fee concession will be credited.
Central scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal
The Ministry of Education's PM-USP Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (CSSS) is one national route worth checking. The published scheme guidance includes regular professional courses such as medicine. The Ministry FAQ describes the main conditions as placement above the 80th percentile in the relevant Class XII board stream, a regular course, annual family income up to ₹4.5 lakh and no other scholarship, fee reimbursement or fee waiver. The scheme is merit and means based; meeting one condition alone does not establish eligibility. Check the current scheme guidelines, the institute/course listing and your category in the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) before applying.
The FAQ gives annual rates of ₹12,000 for the first three undergraduate years and ₹20,000 for postgraduate study; it also discusses a four-year technical-course rate. Do not use those examples to calculate an AIIMS MBBS award: the sources reviewed here do not establish the applicable MBBS amount or the student's entitlement. Confirm the current rate and course treatment in the live scheme notice. A student receiving another scholarship, fee reimbursement or waiver may be ineligible under the stated CSSS conditions, so disclose all assistance and ask the institute before accepting overlapping benefits.
NSP also lists category-specific programmes, including Top Class Education for SC students, Higher Education scholarships for ST students and PM-YASASVI Top Class College support for OBC, EBC and DNT students. These are separate schemes with their own category, income, course and institution conditions. The portal's listing does not by itself prove that a particular AIIMS programme or applicant qualifies. Open the current scheme details and eligible-institution list, then confirm that AIIMS New Delhi and your exact course are accepted for that cycle. Do not assume a Delhi state scheme applies simply because the campus is in Delhi; verify its institutional and course scope.
Application checks for the 2026-27 portal cycle
NSP's pages show 2026-27 scheme activity and require One Time Registration (OTR) before applying. The portal pages reviewed on 1 November 2026 do not agree on the CSSS student deadline: the Students page shows 31 October, while the All Scholarships listing shows 30 November. Other scheme listings also show 30 November dates, but each deadline is scheme-specific. Because the dates conflict and may change, check the individual live scheme notice and portal status before acting; do not rely on either summary date as a confirmed extension. If a deadline has passed, ask the institute's nodal officer whether any official reopening or correction window exists rather than submitting through an unofficial route.
For an application, complete OTR using your own current details, select the correct fresh or renewal path, and match name, date of birth, course, year, category and bank information across records. Upload only the required, legible documents. After submission, save the application ID and monitor NSP and institute-verification status. Respond promptly to a documented defect; a submitted form is not an approved scholarship. Keep copies of the final application, fee receipt, institute verification and sanction or rejection message. Renewal students should check attendance, academic progression and renewal conditions in that year's notice rather than assuming last year's approval carries forward.
The official AIIMS forms page and NSP are the places to verify institute procedures and current scheme status. The Ministry guidelines and FAQ explain the CSSS framework, while the live portal governs the application window. Recheck dates and eligibility for the actual admission year: the 2026-27 portal material does not announce 2027-28 deadlines or guarantee that a scheme will remain unchanged.
