Admission Routes & Overview
The Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) offers four residential PGDM programmes for the 2027-29 cycle: PGDM, PGDM (International Business), PGDM (Insurance Business Management), and PGDM (Retail Management). Admissions are strictly on a merit basis through recognized entrance examinations. The institute does not authorize direct admissions or agents.
Applications are distributed across three primary categories:
General Category (Merit): Comprises 95% of seats across all programmes.
ESCS Category: 5% of seats are reserved for Economically & Socially Challenged Students (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Minority Communities). Unfilled ESCS seats are converted to the General Category.
Supernumerary Category: 45 seats in the core PGDM programme only are reserved for PIO, OCI, Foreign Nationals, SAARC Nationals, and Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf. (No entrance exam score is required for this route; selection is on an internal merit basis among eligible applicants).
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the 2027-29 admission cycle, candidates must meet the following baseline requirements:
Academic Qualification: A recognized Bachelor's degree (10+2+3 pattern) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
Final Year Applicants: Candidates appearing for their final graduation examinations in Summer 2027 may apply. They must submit their final results demonstrating the 50% aggregate requirement by 31 October 2027. Failure to do so will result in automatic cancellation of provisional admission.
Accepted Entrance Exams by Programme
Candidates must submit valid scores for the respective programmes:
PGDM & PGDM (International Business): CAT 2026, XAT 2027, GMAT (2025/2026-27), or CMAT 2027.
PGDM (Insurance Business Management) & PGDM (Retail Management): CAT 2026, XAT 2027, GMAT (2025/2026-27), CMAT 2027, or MAT (2026-27).
Selection Process
The BIMTECH selection process consists of multiple sequential steps:
Online Application: Candidates must submit an online application form through the official BIMTECH admission portal, along with a non-refundable application fee of INR 2,250.
Shortlisting: Applicants are shortlisted based on their entrance exam percentiles and past academic performance. Candidates must upload their entrance scores (CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/MAT) immediately after results are declared.
Extempore and Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates will be called for the final evaluation rounds, conducted either online or offline at various centres (Greater Noida, Bangalore, Cochin, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, and Pune).
Final Merit List: BIMTECH does not publish strict cutoff percentiles; final admission offers are based on a composite score.

* Additional weightage is awarded to graduates from Top 100 NIRF-ranked institutions.** Work experience must be in an executive or supervisory role in a registered company with a turnover of INR 10+ Crores. Startup/entrepreneurial experience may be considered on merit.
Important Deadlines & Next Steps
The application window for the 2027-29 PGDM programmes is currently open. While BIMTECH has not yet published the exact final closing date for this cycle, applicants are strongly advised to complete the initial application (INR 2,250) and submit all relevant documentation promptly.
Academic sessions for the 2027-29 cohort are scheduled to commence in June/July 2027.
Waitlist & Refund Policy: As per AICTE guidelines, if an applicant withdraws before the programme starts, the entire fee is refunded after a INR 1,000 processing deduction. Once the course commences, only the refundable components (such as the security deposit) will be returned if the vacant seat is not filled.
