Start with the current course bulletin
CMC Vellore does not use one admissions rule across its programmes. Its 2026 notice groups MBBS, BSc Nursing at Vellore and Chittoor, and Allied & Healthcare degree courses under Group A. Group B covers Diploma in Nursing, AHS diplomas and postgraduate diplomas, and selected MSc, MPH, MHA, MPT, MOT and fellowship courses. Medical PG, higher specialty, postgraduate Nursing and distance-education applications have separate bulletins. The official admissions portal lists these programme groups and provides their current notices.
The 2026-27 prospectus is a common reference, not a substitute for the programme bulletin. It tells candidates to use the current-year bulletin for process details and warns that rules can change under state, university or statutory requirements. The 2026 Group A and B notice set 30 March 2026 as the online application deadline with payment. That date has passed; it is historical information, not a 2027-28 deadline. Applicants should wait for the next official notice instead of relying on a calendar month or an old application form.
MBBS: NEET merit and two quota processes
For the 2026-27 MBBS intake, the prospectus lists 100 seats. Management fills half from NEET inter-se merit: 2 open seats, 38 Minority Network seats and 10 CMC Vellore staff seats. The other half is filled by the Tamil Nadu state government from the state NEET merit list: 30 seats under the state's reservation policy and 20 for Christian-minority candidates from Tamil Nadu. The state and management routes therefore have different category and application steps, even though both use NEET merit. These are the stated categories for the 2026-27 intake; do not project them to a later year without the new prospectus and counselling notices.
The prospectus requires a qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English. Candidates must pass the listed subjects individually and have at least 50% together in the science subjects; it states 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates under the applicable Tamil Nadu and university guidelines. Candidates must be 17 at admission or reach that age by 31 December of the admission year. The prospectus also says the required subjects must be passed in one and the same attempt. The current university and state rules control if they change.
CMC's current prospectus bases MBBS selection on NEET results. The older published admission copy described an institutional interview and aptitude score carrying 30-40% of a composite merit calculation; the current prospectus does not support that claim. Do not prepare for an unverified MBBS interview or use those old approximate marks as a target. After selection, candidates complete CMC registration and provide original certificates; admission remains subject to the stated university approval process. For government-quota seats, follow the state counselling instructions. For management-quota applicants, complete CMC's own process and the applicable category certification.
Nursing and Allied Health use separate selection steps
For 2026-27 BSc Nursing, the prospectus requires 10+2 Science with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, at least 45% across those subjects, and an individual pass in English. It states a 5% relaxation in the marks requirement for SC/ST candidates, a minimum age of 17 by 31 December of the admission year and medical fitness. Selection is merit-based: Step 1 is a computer-based entrance test; shortlisted candidates proceed to Step 2, which can include a medical check, interview and special tests. Christian candidates applying under the Minority Network category take a Bible Knowledge test at Vellore during Step 2. The prospectus describes these as BSc Nursing rules for that intake, not a common process for all CMC programmes.
AHS degree admissions also vary by course. For BPT and BOT, the prospectus says the 2026 admission basis is NEET-UG merit under the cited national and Tamil Nadu notifications, while advising candidates to take the CMC entrance test as a contingency if NEET is not implemented. For other AHS courses, the 2026 notice directs candidates to the CMC entrance test. The common 10+2 subject list includes English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology; the prospectus specifically sets a 50% threshold for Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics, Optometry and Ophthalmic Technology. It describes a preliminary computer-based Step 1 and practical tests and interview for shortlisted candidates at Step 2. Check the exact course bulletin for the current qualification, test and campus; neither a sibling AHS course nor an older notice establishes eligibility for another programme.
Diploma Nursing is distinct from BSc Nursing. The 2026-27 prospectus gives a minimum 40% in 10+2, makes English compulsory, says science is preferable, and requires applicants to be at least 17 and medically fit. Its 100-seat table divides seats between All India Open and Minority Network/CMC staff categories, with a separate female/male count. Diploma Nursing uses the stated Step 1 and Step 2 selection process. Applicants should use the correct nursing bulletin and category form rather than carrying BSc Nursing's 45% science threshold over to the diploma.
Medical postgraduate admissions
CMC's 2026 notice directs Medical PG applicants to the separate online bulletin for MD/MS, Diploma in Clinical Pathology and M.Ch. Neurosurgery broad-specialty courses. The 2026-27 prospectus says postgraduate diploma and MD/MS applicants must have qualified with an MBBS degree, hold full registration and complete compulsory rotating residential internship before the course starts. The notice and annual bulletin control application dates, accepted exam details, category terms, seat availability and specialty-specific conditions. Higher specialty, postgraduate Nursing and other professional programmes have their own notices; do not treat a general “Group B” listing as proof that all programmes share one exam or eligibility rule.
The institution describes service obligations for several courses. For medical postgraduate programmes, it says service is completed at CMC Vellore or an associated mission hospital after the course, with category-specific details in the current Medical PG bulletin. Read that exact bulletin and undertaking before accepting an offer. Broad statements about one uniform bond duration, location or penalty do not replace programme-specific terms.
Cutoff information: use the relevant merit list
The official sources reviewed for this refresh explain NEET merit, CMC's seat categories and the separate state and management processes, but they do not provide an opened, course- and category-specific final closing-score table that can be reported as a CMC cutoff. A single NEET mark would be misleading across management open, Minority Network, staff and government seats, as well as different counselling lists and years. CMC's old public article gave approximate marks without an identified year, round or source table; those numbers should not guide an application.
Check the latest CMC bulletin and admissions portal for institutional-category instructions, then use the responsible state counselling authority's published allotment results for government-quota comparisons. Preserve exam year, round, category, quota and list when comparing a closing rank or mark. If an official table for the relevant year is unavailable, treat the cutoff as unknown rather than inventing a safe score. Cutoff guidance belongs with Admission here because it depends on the route and category above; a separate numeric page would repeat the process without a verified table.
Application checklist and fraud warning
- Identify the exact degree, campus and admission group, then open its current bulletin from the official CMC portal.
- Confirm the qualifying examination, required subjects, marks, age, category certificate and any Minority Network recommendation. A recommendation request does not itself guarantee certification, selection or financial support.
- Verify which test and year apply. For 2026-27, CMC identified NEET-UG 2026 for MBBS and stated NEET-based rules for BPT/BOT; other AHS and Nursing steps are programme-specific. Do not assume these exam years carry forward to 2027-28.
- Use the application dates and instructions printed in that cycle's bulletin. The Group A/B 2026 deadline was 30 March 2026 and is no longer open.
- Keep copies of the application, payment confirmation, category documents and counselling allotment. Selected candidates must complete registration and present original certificates as required.
- Read any service undertaking before paying or joining, and confirm the exact amount and due date in the official fee notice.
CMC's 2026 admission notice explicitly warns that it does not admit students through agents or agencies. It says no fee or donation is accepted in lieu of admission and cautions candidates against anyone promising a seat. Apply through the official portal, follow the bulletin and counselling body responsible for the seat, and pay only the amounts and through the methods listed in official instructions.
