FMS Delhi MBA admission 2027–29: CAT, eligibility and selection
FMS’s latest captured full-time information bulletin is for the 2027–29 MBA Full-Time programme. It requires applicants to have taken CAT 2026 and sets out separate rules for eligibility, interview shortlisting and final selection. The bulletin does not publish a single CAT percentile that guarantees admission. Applicants should use the formula for the correct intake and verify any later notice on the FMS admissions site before applying.
Eligibility for the full-time MBA
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree after twelve years of formal schooling. The 2027–29 bulletin states a minimum of 50% at graduation for the unreserved category, passing marks for SC and ST candidates, and 45% for OBC Non-Creamy Layer, EWS, PWD and CW candidates under University of Delhi rules, or the equivalent CGPA. Candidates in the final year of a bachelor’s degree may apply if they expect to meet the stated requirement when results are declared and submit the required documents by admission.
Applicants who use a CGPA must state the equivalent percentage and provide the official conversion table from their university or institution. The bulletin also says that final-year applicants may apply irrespective of their marks available at application time, provided they expect to meet the eligibility condition when results are declared. This is not a waiver of the final eligibility requirement; it changes when a qualifying applicant may enter the process.
CAT 2026 and the interview shortlist
The 2027–29 bulletin says applicants who have not taken CAT 2026 will not be considered for the full-time MBA. For interview shortlisting, FMS weights the CAT section scores as follows:
The bulletin provides an additional five marks for women candidates at the shortlisting stage. Because FMS uses section-weighted CAT scores, candidates should not reduce the process to an overall percentile alone. The bulletin does not provide an exact category-wise closing percentile or rank in the pages reviewed here, so no numerical “cutoff” is asserted in this guide.
Final selection components
FMS’s final-selection table allocates the score across more than CAT performance. For the 2027–29 intake, the listed components are:
The bulletin additionally says five marks are awarded to women candidates who appear for the interview. It describes the SOP discussion, extempore and personal interview as individual activities. Candidates shortlisted for interviews must produce original certificates and mark sheets. Check the full bulletin for the applicable calculation rules and any later notice; an older selection formula or an unofficial cutoff chart may refer to a different intake.
Seats and reservation categories
The 2027–29 bulletin lists 251 sanctioned seats for MBA Full-Time: 101 unreserved, 37 SC, 19 ST, 69 OBC and 25 EWS seats. It lists supernumerary seats separately: 12 for PWD, 12 for Children and Widows, 25 for foreign students, six for University teaching-staff wards, six for non-teaching-staff wards and two under the orphan quota. These are bulletin figures for the stated intake, not a standing seat count for future years. Category definitions, certificate requirements and the treatment of supernumerary categories follow the applicable FMS and University of Delhi rules.
Application sequence and dates
The bulletin directs candidates to register for the MBA Full-Time 2027–29 programme through the FMS website and pay the registration fee within the specified period. The captured bulletin does not provide a date to quote in this guide, and an admissions page may add or revise notices after a bulletin is issued. Check FMS’s Results and Notifications page and the official online admissions portal for the live registration window, fee payment instructions and any corrections.
Before submitting, confirm that the CAT year is correct; your category and supporting certificate match the current rules; your degree marks or CGPA conversion are documented; and your final-year result timing will allow you to meet the eligibility condition by admission. Keep original academic records ready for the interview. Do not rely on third-party pages for deadlines or assume that a cutoff number from another year is a current admission rule.
What about MBA Executive and HCA?
FMS also lists MBA-Executive (Evening) and MBA-Executive HCA (Evening). Their admission requirements, candidate eligibility, selection process and fee notices are separate from the full-time MBA. Applicants considering either evening programme should use its own current FMS information bulletin and programme page rather than applying the CAT 2026 full-time formula to it. The current full-time bulletin also includes doctoral-programme material, but doctoral admissions follow a research-area and proposal route rather than the MBA selection formula.
Cutoff guidance
FMS’s 2027–29 bulletin gives the CAT-based shortlisting and final-selection method, but it does not set out a single guaranteed CAT percentile in the material reviewed for this page. A candidate’s prospects depend on the published weighted score and subsequent selection components. Historical score thresholds, if published elsewhere for a prior cycle, should be labelled with their admission year, category and stage; they are not substitutes for the current bulletin. If FMS publishes a current shortlist or category-wise threshold, use the institute’s own notice and distinguish a minimum shortlisting threshold from the score of the last admitted candidate.
