IIT Indore scholarship planning starts by separating a tuition waiver from an external scholarship, loan support or research fellowship. The institute’s scholarship page links multiple routes, including a tuition-remission scheme for eligible undergraduate students, the Central Sector Scholarship process for SC/ST students through the National Scholarship Portal, the Foundation for Excellence (FFE) notice and Samsung Star information. These have different sponsors and application rules. A student should not treat a link on the institute website as proof of selection, nor assume that a tuition benefit covers hostel, mess or every other charge.
What the current institute notice covers
The latest readable tuition-remission notice I found is dated June 11, 2026, for academic year 2026–27. It invites applications from eligible undergraduate students in batches 2023, 2024 and 2025 who belong to GEN, OBC-NCL or EWS categories. Within this notice’s scope, the family-income bands are: below ₹1,00,000 per year for full tuition remission; ₹1,00,000 to ₹5,00,000 for two-thirds remission; and above ₹5,00,000 as not eligible for that remission. The table applies to tuition, not a published all-in semester bill.
The notice also makes two process points that affect budgeting. First, students who received remission the previous year still have to apply again; it is not automatic and depends on annual eligibility and certificate verification. Second, the application deadline printed for this notice was June 30, 2026 at 5 pm, which has passed. The institute says late applications will not be considered under that notice. A student reading this page for the 2027–28 admission cycle should use these terms as a dated example, not as a promise of the next year’s threshold, deadline or covered batches. Wait for the new notice and check its issue date and eligible cohort.
For the 2026–27 scheme, the notice asks for a signed application generated online, a valid latest Family Income Certificate issued by a competent authority and a bank-passbook copy. It says the documents must be merged into one PDF, incomplete applications are not considered, and ITR, Form 16 and salary slips are not accepted as proof of family income for this application. The notice lists authorities such as a Tehsildar, Sub-Divisional Officer, Block Development Officer, Mandal Revenue Officer, Anchal Officer or municipal corporation chairperson/executive officer. Because requirements can change, use the current notice rather than relying on a previous certificate checklist.
Other listed support routes are not interchangeable
IIT Indore’s page points SC/ST students to Standard Operating Procedures for the Central Sector Scholarship and the National Scholarship Portal. The portal and its current rules determine application dates, renewal requirements, eligible courses and award details. The institute page also links an FFE Scholarship notice for IIT students and an external Samsung Star information portal. It does not provide the current eligibility, award value, cohort coverage or renewal terms for each programme in the page text. Open the sponsor’s current notice before including any expected payment in a personal budget.
The same scholarship page links guidelines for financial support and a research-grant/contingency guide for PMRF. Such support is different from a general undergraduate tuition remission. A research award or fellowship may be attached to a particular programme, selection process or approved research activity; it should not be counted as a guaranteed reduction in every student’s tuition. For PhD applicants, read the specific admission category and fellowship conditions in the relevant department’s current call, including whether a funding route requires separate national eligibility.
How to test whether a benefit actually applies
A scholarship headline is not enough to determine net cost. Compare the award with the current fee notice and ask which component it covers. Tuition-only remission will not automatically pay semester registration, housing, dining, deposits, insurance or travel. Conversely, an external scholarship may have a disbursement schedule that reimburses expenses rather than reducing the first payment due to the institute. Keep the award letter, sanction conditions and fee demand together so you can identify the amount payable before reimbursement.
Use this checklist before applying:
- Match the scheme to your degree, admission batch, category and academic year.
- Check whether eligibility is based on family income, qualifying marks, a national portal, a fellowship or a separate sponsor process.
- Read the latest notice for proof documents, issuing authority, application portal, deadline and renewal terms.
- Confirm whether support covers tuition only or other named charges; do not subtract it from the total bill without that information.
- Save the submitted form and receipt, and check the official portal or registered email for queries and decisions.
For the 2026–27 remission notice, the institute states annual fresh application and a deadline that has already passed. No 2027–28 tuition-remission threshold or deadline is confirmed in the sources checked here. The practical next step for a newly admitted student is to monitor IIT Indore’s scholarship page and Academic Office notices after the relevant admission year is announced, then verify that the notice explicitly covers the student’s batch. For CSS, FFE or Samsung Star, follow the current sponsoring portal rather than assuming the institute’s page itself is the application form.
What to ask the Academic Office
If the notice and fee demand are hard to reconcile, send a focused question: identify the programme, admission batch, category, family-income band and exact fee component, then ask whether the current scheme covers that component and which version of the certificate is accepted. This is more likely to produce a useful answer than asking for a general “scholarship amount.” Do not send sensitive financial documents to an address that is not listed in the current official application instructions.
IIT Indore’s 2026–27 notice is specific enough to plan for the named existing batches, but it cannot be rolled forward to the next incoming class. Treat future-year support as unconfirmed until a fresh institute or sponsor notice is published. The latest official links are the place to check; the application decision and amount still depend on the particular scheme’s eligibility and written award.
