IMI Kolkata PGDM Admission 2027–29: dates, eligibility and selection
IMI Kolkata is accepting applications for the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) 2027–29 batch. The official admissions portal says applications opened in September 2026 and lists 19 December 2026 as the last date to apply. It schedules interviews for January 2027, admission decisions for February 2027 and the programme start for July 2027. Check the live portal before paying or submitting: institutes can revise dates and instructions. Apply through IMI’s Kolkata admissions portal.
Current application window
The 2027–29 portal names IMI Kolkata and the PGDM admission route. Its dated sequence is: applications from September 2026; last date 19 December 2026; interviews in January 2027; admission decisions in February 2027; and programme commencement in July 2027. The deadline is the date to plan around now. Keep time for completing the form and checking that the submitted application is visible in the portal; a submitted form is not itself an admission offer.
The current landing page does not show a score cutoff, weight formula, application fee, document checklist or a detailed selection policy in its visible admission timeline. Do not substitute figures from IMI’s Delhi or Bhubaneswar campuses. Before submitting, use the Kolkata portal’s current form and its linked 2027–29 bulletin for the accepted test editions, application charge, required documents and any changed schedule. If the bulletin or form is not accessible, contact the admissions office through the email or telephone listed on the live portal rather than relying on an older page.
Programme and campus
This page covers the full-time PGDM at IMI Kolkata, not the institute’s separate Fellow Programme in Management or Online PGDM. IMI Kolkata describes its PGDM as a two-year, full-time programme approved by AICTE. The institute also says the PGDM is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), and that it has equivalence to an MBA granted by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Those are statements about this PGDM; they do not turn it into a university MBA degree. Confirm the exact award and the current batch’s approval documents if those distinctions affect your decision. Read IMI Kolkata’s programme and accreditation information.
The institute’s current PGDM page describes a curriculum with foundation courses, track core, electives and capstone projects. It presents career tracks including consulting and strategy, finance, product management, analytics, operations and supply chain, and people and organisation, and says students can combine a major and minor. These are curriculum options rather than admission specialisations selected on this page; check the current programme structure and availability for your batch before choosing a track. See the PGDM curriculum overview.
Eligibility: what is confirmed, and what needs a current bulletin
IMI’s detailed PGDM admissions page still contains the 2026–28 policy. For that earlier batch, it required a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline, with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent, from a recognised institution; it specified a minimum three years of education after higher secondary schooling. The same page said final-year students could apply if they supplied proof of eligibility by 30 September 2026. That date belongs to the 2026–28 intake and has passed. It must not be used as the 2027–29 completion deadline.
The 2027–29 landing page confirms an active application window but does not reproduce a detailed eligibility rule in its visible timeline. Treat the 50% and three-year criteria as the last detailed published reference, not as a verified 2027–29 rule. In particular, final-year applicants should check the current bulletin for the permitted graduation year and result-submission deadline. A minimum score in the degree does not guarantee shortlisting: IMI’s detailed previous-cycle page says the institute may use a higher percentage cutoff depending on applicant numbers.
The previous-cycle page describes applicants from different undergraduate disciplines, including engineering, humanities, commerce, economics and medicine, and refers to both fresh graduates and candidates with work experience. It does not make prior work experience a general minimum for the self-sponsored PGDM route. The current batch’s detailed rule should still be checked before you apply.
Entrance tests and selection
The detailed Kolkata admission page refers to CAT, XAT, CMAT and GMAT in its 2026–28 policy. It specifically names CAT 2025, XAT 2026 and CMAT 2026 for that intake; its GMAT paragraph concerns foreign-national applicants. Those exam editions are historical references, not the valid test list for the 2027–29 application. The 2027–29 portal page captured here does not list accepted exam names, score-validity windows or a percentile cutoff. Confirm the current test editions and how to report a result in the live application form or current bulletin.
For 2026–28, IMI said it shortlisted candidates using an entrance score and then called shortlisted applicants to an individual assessment process that included a personal interview. It listed academic record, interview performance, work-experience quality and extracurricular activities among the selection considerations, and described the offer as based on a composite score across stages. The page’s interview months were January/February 2026, so those are not dates for the current batch. The 2027–29 portal separately schedules interviews for January 2027; it does not publish a current score weighting or guaranteed cutoff in the visible timeline. Prepare to discuss your academic choices, experience and goals, but do not assume a specific interview format or numeric weighting until the current bulletin confirms it.
Applying without avoidable errors
Use the official Kolkata application portal and make sure the programme and campus shown in your application are PGDM and Kolkata. Enter academic details and test information from source documents, not estimates. Before final submission, review names, dates, marks, test identifiers and contact details against the originals. IMI’s previous 2026–28 page said that a submitted application could not be edited after the final application and fee payment; verify the current correction policy in the 2027–29 form before submitting.
Save the application number, payment confirmation and portal status. Keep copies of the submitted form, entrance score report and degree records available for any interview or document verification. These are sensible records to retain; the exact document checklist and upload steps must come from the current portal or bulletin.
Sponsored and international applicants
The earlier Kolkata policy distinguishes self-sponsored, company-sponsored and foreign-national applicants. It required company-sponsored candidates to provide a sponsorship letter and undertaking at the personal-interview stage, and said company-sponsored candidates were not eligible for institute placement assistance. It also described separate passport and evaluation requirements for foreign nationals. Because these rules are taken from the prior published policy, applicants in those categories should confirm the 2027–29 terms before applying; the current admissions landing page does not provide those conditions.
Cost and final checks
Admission application charges are separate from tuition and living costs. The Kolkata admissions page’s visible fee tables are labelled for the 2026–28 batch, so they are not a confirmed 2027–29 price. Use the separate Courses & Fees page and the new batch bulletin for current tuition, hostel and mess charges, refund terms and installment dates. Do not treat a past application fee or a prior batch’s total programme cost as the amount due for this intake.
Before the deadline, verify five items on the live Kolkata portal: the closing date, the accepted examination editions, the degree and final-year eligibility rule, the application charge and the document list. If the full bulletin differs from this summary, follow the current Kolkata-specific bulletin. The reliable current facts captured here are the 2027–29 application timeline and PGDM route; the detailed eligibility and selection rules quoted above are explicitly dated 2026–28 references.
