JIMS Vasant Kunj admission 2027-28: check the cycle before applying
The JIMS Vasant Kunj admission page currently links to the GGSIPU Admission Brochure 2026. It explains routes for BBA, BCA and BA(JMC), but it does not provide a 2027-28 application date or confirm that the 2026 rules will carry forward. As checked on 6 November 2026, treat the next-cycle deadline, counselling calendar, test session and eligibility rules as unannounced until JIMS or Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) publishes them.
Start with the official JIMS admissions page, then follow the current GGSIPU brochure and notices linked there. Confirm that the form names the intended academic year and programme before paying or submitting documents. Before you act, verify the application opening and closing dates, the accepted entrance-test session, the programme-specific eligibility clause, counselling rounds and the current fee instructions. A notice for one programme or a later vacancy round should not be assumed to cover every course. The 2026 information below is a useful preparation reference, not a confirmed 2027-28 offer or schedule.
2026 eligibility and selection: choose the programme first
For the 2026 information shown on JIMS’ admissions page, BBA and BA(JMC) applicants needed to pass Class 12 with at least 50% aggregate and pass English as a core, elective or functional subject. BCA required the same 50% threshold and English, plus Mathematics, Computer Science or another subject related to Computer Science. The page also lists an alternate BCA route for a three-year engineering diploma from an AICTE-approved polytechnic affiliated to a recognised examining body, with at least 50% aggregate. Check the current GGSIPU brochure for how the university applies subject, category and equivalence rules; do not assume the 2026 text governs the next intake. A practical screening order is to check the qualifying route first, then the aggregate threshold, then the required subject. For BBA and BA(JMC), compare the Class 12 result and English subject status separately. For BCA, confirm the additional Mathematics or computer-related subject as well. A diploma applicant should verify both that the programme is in an engineering branch and that the polytechnic and examining body fit the stated approval and affiliation conditions. The page does not explain rounding, subject equivalence, compartment results or category-specific relaxation, so obtain the applicable clause from the current university brochure rather than infer it.
JIMS describes admission to all three listed programmes as merit-based on the GGSIPU Common Entrance Test (CET). It says CUET merit is used for vacant seats after the CET merit list has been exhausted. That wording makes CUET a later vacancy route in the published 2026 process, not a reason to skip CET registration or the university’s counselling instructions. Confirm the exact programme and route in the current university notice before choosing an exam or paying a fee. Read “vacant seats” literally: the published wording makes CUET merit relevant after the CET merit list has been exhausted. It does not establish how many seats will remain, whether a vacancy round will be held in a later year, or whether the same route applies to an individual category. Keep CET registration and university counselling as the primary sequence unless a dated GGSIPU notice for the intended cycle says otherwise.
After allotment: follow the university schedule and prepare originals
JIMS’ published reporting guidance says candidates allotted a seat through GGSIPU online counselling must report to the institute for document verification and payment of the balance fee on the schedule notified by the university. The page asks candidates to bring original documents and photocopies. Its list includes Class 10 and 12 marksheets and certificates, the CET 2026 admit card, proof of date of birth, qualifying-exam certificate, GGSIPU registration slip and allotment letter, plus a conduct and character certificate, medical certificate and the parent and student anti-ragging undertakings. Reservation-category and distance-learning location certificates are listed when applicable.
Use this list as a 2026 planning checklist only. For the next intake, download the current reporting notice and its prescribed formats. Keep your originals ready, but upload or submit only the documents and versions requested for your programme and category. For preparation, group the named items into school records (Class 10 and 12 marksheets and certificates), identity and qualifying proof (date-of-birth proof and qualifying-exam certificate), university counselling records (registration slip, allotment letter and entrance admit card), and institute forms (medical, conduct and character, and anti-ragging documents). Add a reservation-category certificate or distance-learning location certificate only when applicable. The article is not a substitute for the notice: the university can prescribe a different schedule or format for a later round. The schedule, balance amount and document format are set by the current university and institute notices, and the page does not establish a 2027-28 reporting date or amount.
The 2026 vacant-seat round is historical
JIMS maintains a separate vacant-seat admission page. The page labels the process “Admission Against Vacant Seats 2026” and records notices beginning 19 September 2026, followed by counselling and merit-list updates through 30 September. Those dates are past as of 6 November 2026; they are not an open application window. The page does not establish that a similar round will run in 2027.
If regular counselling leaves a vacancy in a future cycle, use only a new dated JIMS or GGSIPU notice to confirm eligible programmes, application steps, merit basis, seat availability and reporting date. A useful check is to match the notice date and academic year, then confirm the named programme, application mode, list or counselling stage and documents before acting. The 2026 page itself shows that vacancy notices and later merit or admitted-candidate updates were separate records, so an old application form alone does not establish a current seat or an active round. Do not send documents or payment against a past vacancy form. For questions, use the contact details on JIMS’ official site and ask the office to confirm the cycle and programme in writing.
