Start with the official list, then verify the current cycle
Jamia Hamdard’s scholarship page lists university-wide, school-specific, and national or state scholarship and fellowship names. Its eligibility table is more useful as a lead than as a current award notice: the page does not consistently give application dates, award values, available seats, renewal rules or the academic year for each entry. Treat a listed scheme as a lead to verify before budgeting for 2027–28. The university’s Student Help Desk directs fee-concession questions to the Dean of Students’ Welfare at [email protected]; school offices can clarify course-specific eligibility.
The page separates schemes for students across all schools from schemes tied to a particular school or course. Examples of the all-school list include an HNF scholarship shown for a limited number of PhD students on a merit-cum-means basis, an essay competition connected with Khwaja Gharib Nawaz, and an interfaith-dialogue essay award. These descriptions are narrow. They do not establish an automatic tuition waiver for every enrolled student, and the competition awards should not be confused with recurring fee support.
The longer tables are course- and year-specific. In the School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, the listed Maulana Shibli Nomani Scholarship is for a second-year B.Pharm student who stood highest in first-year marks; a Noorul Hasan Memorial Scholarship is described as merit and need based. The Management and Business Studies table lists the M-MILES initiative for Muslim MBA second-year students. In Nursing Sciences and Allied Health, the page names schemes for B.Sc Nursing, DGNM, BMLT, DDT and other particular courses and years. A student in another year or programme should not assume eligibility from a similar course title.
Match the scheme to your programme and circumstances
Some entries use academic performance, some mention financial need, and some specify identity, gender, year of study, course or competition. For example, the page describes the Mrs. Shakila Naqvi Merit Scholarship for a Muslim woman in the second year of an M.Sc programme who earns the highest marks in the first year. It describes the Tasmia Merit Scholarship for a second-year Biotechnology student, and a separate merit-and-need award for second-year M.Sc Biotechnology. These are not interchangeable awards: check the exact programme, year, conditions and selection method with the relevant school before preparing documents.
The School of Unani Medical Education and Research table includes awards associated with BUMS professional years, Pre-Tibb performance and M.D. (Unani). The school table for Chemical and Life Sciences names several discipline-specific M.Sc awards. This distribution matters for students deciding whether to budget around support: a scheme listed under another school does not become applicable simply because its eligibility wording mentions merit or financial need. Ask the Dean of Students’ Welfare and your school whether the scheme is active for your intake and whether the listed criterion is complete.
The same official page separately points to central and state schemes, including minority, single-girl-child, university-rank-holder, disability, post-matric and state e-district programmes. The linked portal or administering department determines the current application window, domicile or category rules, income limits, document format and renewal conditions. Jamia’s listing is a navigation aid; it does not prove that every scheme is open to every Jamia student, or that a particular applicant will qualify. Confirm that the exact course and institution are eligible on the administering portal before submitting personal documents.
What to confirm before relying on support
For each award, ask for the current written notice or application form and check five points: the course and school covered; the year of study; academic, income, category or competition conditions; the amount or percentage and what fee component it covers; and whether the award is one-time or renewable. Also ask how selection is made, what documents are required, when the decision is issued, whether benefits can be combined with government support, and how a student should appeal a rejection. The public scheme table does not answer these consistently, so do not fill the gaps with older prospectus terms or another student’s award experience.
The page links the National Scholarship Portal as a central application route, and names state schemes with separate portals. Follow the scheme’s own instructions and save the submitted form, acknowledgement and official replies. Do not assume that Jamia’s internal concession process and a government scholarship use the same eligibility test or deadline. The Student Help Desk says fee-concession queries fall under the supervision of the Dean of Students’ Welfare; contact the relevant school as well where the award is tied to a department or course.
A practical checklist
- Open Jamia Hamdard’s scholarship list and identify the exact award, school and programme named.
- Ask the Dean of Students’ Welfare or school office whether it is active for the current session, and request its dated notice and application form.
- Verify the current eligibility, amount, covered fee, documents, application deadline and renewal rule against that notice or the administering portal.
- Submit through the stated official route and retain the receipt. If the public list and the current notice differ, request written clarification before planning your fee budget.
Until those details are confirmed, treat scholarships as potential support rather than money already deducted from the fee quoted for admission. Jamia’s public list is broad and useful for finding possible leads, but it does not provide enough cycle-specific information to calculate a student’s net cost.
