B.Tech admission: EAMCET and ECET
For regular B.Tech programmes, JNTUH says admission is based on the rank secured in the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET), conducted by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education. The university separately identifies diploma-holder entry: candidates with a three-year diploma and an Engineering Common Entrance Test (ECET) rank are eligible to enter B.Tech programmes. These routes lead to the same broad degree level but are not interchangeable; the ECET route is specifically described for diploma holders.
A practical application sequence is to identify the exact JNTUH constituent college and branch, confirm that it appears in the relevant counselling option list, then follow the state authority’s examination and counselling notices for that year. The JNTUH page establishes the broad qualifying examination, but it does not provide current application dates, qualifying marks, seat matrix, category rules or counselling fees. Those details belong to the relevant year’s official notification. Do not reuse a prior year’s dates or assume that a branch listed at one JNTUH campus is available at every campus.
Before locking options, compare the college code, course code, branch name and location in the official counselling material. JNTUH has constituent colleges in several Telangana locations and a separate network of affiliated colleges. A result that names JNTUH as the affiliating university does not by itself mean the seat is at the Kukatpally campus. The course and campus in the allotment record are the controlling details for a student deciding where they will study.
Postgraduate entrance routes depend on the degree
JNTUH’s general Admissions page assigns different entrance routes to its regular postgraduate programmes in constituent colleges and units. It lists GATE or PGECET for M.Tech, GPAT for M.Pharmacy, and ICET for MBA and MCA. Applicants should select the test that matches the intended programme and then read its current admission notice; “JNTUH postgraduate admission” is not a single application stream.
For M.Tech, M.Pharmacy and MCA, the university describes regular, sponsored and non-sponsored self-supporting categories. Its page says sponsored applicants need two years of work experience and must be sponsored by their current employer. For the non-sponsored self-supporting category, it says preference is given to candidates with GATE or PGECET qualifications, but those candidates are not eligible for a scholarship. The regular stream is described as providing an AICTE scholarship or stipend to GATE-qualified candidates. These statements are category-specific and should not be generalized to MBA, MCA or every postgraduate course. Check the current programme notice for eligibility, seat availability, fee liability and the award’s continuation conditions.
For MBA and MCA, JNTUH lists ICET ranking as the route for regular admission in constituent colleges and units. The page does not provide the current-year counselling schedule or exact eligibility thresholds. Applicants should use the Telangana Council of Higher Education or relevant counselling authority’s current notice for those details, and check whether a particular constituent unit uses the regular route or a separate category described by the university.
Regular M.Sc programmes use an entrance examination conducted by JNTUH. The university’s general page does not list the current paper pattern, subject-wise eligibility, participating departments or vacancies. Those details can change by programme and admission year. Check the current Directorate of Admissions notification for the relevant M.Sc subject, not a generic entrance-exam summary.
Part-time study and research admissions
The university says part-time M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA and PGDNT admissions are made through an entrance examination conducted by JNTUH. Its stated eligibility is narrower than a standard full-time route: candidates must be employed on a regular-service basis in and around Hyderabad and have at least one year of experience after acquiring the prescribed qualification. A candidate considering this route should confirm how the university defines accepted employment, what evidence is required, and whether the desired programme is offered in the current cycle. The general webpage gives the broad rule, not a programme-specific application checklist.
For external PhD, M.Phil and MS research programmes, JNTUH describes an entrance examination followed by an interview. Candidates who qualify in NET or SLET need not sit the written test, but the university explicitly says they must still pass the interview. This is a written-test exemption, not automatic admission. Research applicants should check the current notification for available disciplines, supervisor capacity, documents, dates and any additional selection criteria.
JNTUH’s current notification list, viewed on 6 November 2026, includes 2026-27 entries for M.Sc spot admission and full-time PhD/postdoctoral-fellowship admissions. It also lists part-time postgraduate counselling and ICET-related MBA/MCA spot-admission notices. These entries show that the university publishes separate notices for different programmes and stages. They are not a calendar for the 2027-28 cycle, and no future date should be inferred from them.
What to verify before applying
Use the university’s general Admissions page to identify the broad examination route, then move to the current programme and counselling notices for the details that determine eligibility and cost. Save the notice that applies to your intended academic year and check that the named course, constituent college or affiliated college, campus and admission category all match your choice.
For an undergraduate applicant, distinguish regular EAMCET entry from the diploma-holder ECET route. For postgraduate applicants, verify the exact examination and seat category: GATE/PGECET, GPAT and ICET serve different programmes, while regular M.Sc and some part-time or research routes use a JNTUH examination. For sponsored postgraduate seats, verify work experience and employer sponsorship; for self-supporting seats, budget on the basis that the general page says scholarship is not available in that category. For research, distinguish a NET/SLET written-test exemption from the interview requirement that remains.
The pages reviewed here do not establish 2027-28 application dates, application charges, current seat counts, category-specific cutoffs or a complete checklist of certificates. Treat those as unannounced or unverified until the responsible authority publishes the relevant notice. Do not make a payment using a third-party summary; follow the official link from JNTUH or the Telangana counselling authority, and retain the receipt and application confirmation.
