Two routes lead to the 2027 MBA selection process
KIIT School of Management (KSOM) has opened applications for its 2027 MBA intake through two routes. The first is the institute’s own KIITEE Management 2027 examination. The second lets applicants use a valid score from a recognised national test, including CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, GMAT or ATMA. Both routes feed into the same broad selection stages: group discussion, personal interview and writing ability test, alongside entrance score and past academic performance. The useful choice is therefore not simply which exam you have taken. Check the application deadline for that route, whether your score belongs to the relevant admission year and whether you can attend the February selection stage.
These dates come from KSOM’s MBA application page. It identifies KIITEE Management as a separate examination conducted by KSOM and says CAT-2026 or XAT-2027 scores may be used for MBA admission in 2027. The eligibility page similarly scopes its accepted entrance scores to “MBA 2027 admission”. Do not carry a score from a different testing year forward just because the test name is accepted. If you are applying through another exam, confirm the score year against the live form before submitting.
The two deadlines are not interchangeable. Someone planning to sit KIITEE Management must complete that route by 4 January, even though the other-score application remains open until 20 January. Conversely, an applicant with a CAT, XAT or other accepted score should verify that the score is valid for this intake and use the later route only if the official portal presents the same option. The 2027 application page is the source for current route availability; older brochures are useful for past cycles but should not replace its dates.
Check the academic thresholds before paying an application fee
KSOM’s eligibility page sets three academic checks for the 2027 MBA: a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA, at least 50% in both Class 10 and Class 12, and a valid score in a recognised national-level MBA or PGDM entrance examination. The accepted-score examples include KIITEE Management, KIITEE, CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, GMAT and ATMA, with the relevant test recognised for the admission year. Because the current page frames the score rule broadly and the application page gives score-year examples, use both pages together: qualifying marks do not replace the entrance-score requirement, and an accepted test name does not make every year’s result eligible.
KSOM explains how to handle grades in place of marks. Use the conversion or equivalence certified by the university, institution or board that issued the credential. If that authority has no conversion instruction, the page gives a fallback: divide the obtained CGPA by the maximum CGPA and multiply by 100. The aggregate includes all subjects, including optional subjects. Keep the issuing body’s conversion certificate or the calculation record available, since the admissions team may need to verify the figure.
Final-year students may apply if they are expected to complete every requirement for the bachelor’s degree by 30 June 2027. The page says the required degree documents must then be submitted by 30 September 2027; failure to submit them on time can require withdrawal from the programme. This is a conditional application route, not a waiver of the degree requirement. Before applying, check whether your university’s result schedule can meet both dates and ask KSOM which evidence it accepts while the final certificate is pending.
For NRI or foreign candidates, KSOM says the same academic eligibility applies, with a filled application, supporting documents and a US$50 application fee; it specifies a valid GMAT score from 2026 for consideration. This is a distinct instruction from the general domestic list, so international applicants should confirm the exact documentation and payment method with admissions. Read the full eligibility and selection rules before deciding that a borderline percentage or score is acceptable.
KIITEE Management 2027: January test, result and interview window
KSOM describes KIITEE Management as a separate national-level computer-based examination conducted by the school. Its published schedule gives 4 January 2027 as the application deadline, 6 January for admit-card download, 9-11 January for the test and 20 January for the result. Group discussion and personal interview are listed for the first week of February. Treat “first week” as a window rather than a confirmed day; the page does not publish a specific GD or PI date in the schedule.
The school says the examination will be conducted across 18 Indian cities and identifies Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai as GD and PI centres. The application page cautions that if a chosen test or interview centre cannot be used for an unforeseeable reason, the institute may allot the nearest available test centre or another interview centre. Select a centre you can reach, but wait for the admit card and individual instructions before booking non-refundable travel.
KSOM’s FAQ describes the test as two and a half hours with 120 multiple-choice questions across Quantitative Aptitude, Analytical Reasoning, English and General Knowledge. That gives applicants a useful preparation map, but the FAQ does not provide a detailed question count by area or a scoring formula. The current application page links the KIITEE Management bulletin and MBA information brochure. Read the latest bulletin for the detailed test instructions, fee and any rules that are not stated on the web page; do not infer negative marking, section weights or a qualifying cutoff from the four topic names.
A result date is not the same as an admission offer. The school says candidates are shortlisted for GD, PI and WAT using entrance scores, and that final selection also considers career marks. It has not announced a cutoff mark on the FAQ page; the cutoff is to be decided after the test. Prepare the application and supporting academic records early, then use the official KIITEE Management 2027 application page for any schedule change.
Applying with CAT, XAT, MAT or another score
Applicants who already have an eligible score can choose KSOM’s other-national-test route rather than sit KIITEE Management. The application page names CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, GMAT and ATMA. The school’s eligibility page also includes KIITEE among scores it may recognise for MBA 2027 admission. KSOM gives examples of the correct test editions: CAT-2026 and XAT-2027 scores can be used for 2027 MBA admission. Those examples matter because a valid test result from a different year is not automatically usable for this intake.
The current last date for this route is 20 January 2027. Applicants should still submit early enough to correct a score-entry or document issue before the portal closes. KSOM’s page says online applicants may be asked to submit mark sheets and supporting documents later as instructed by the institution. Keep the scorecard and application acknowledgement, and ensure the name and registration details match across them.
A valid score gets an applicant considered for the next stage; it does not guarantee shortlisting or admission. KSOM says shortlisted candidates attend GD, PI and WAT. Final selection takes account of performance in those stages, career marks and entrance score. The listed interview locations are Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai; the school may assign an alternate centre if an unforeseeable event prevents the chosen centre from operating.
If you have more than one accepted score, compare the actual score years and the portal’s route instructions, not just percentile headlines. The pages reviewed do not publish a common score-conversion table across CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT and ATMA. Nor do they give a fixed 2027 cutoff. Ask admissions how the particular score will be treated before relying on it, especially if the result is close to an application deadline or the test edition is not one of the examples on the page.
Selection stages and documents to keep ready
KSOM’s selection page says applicants are shortlisted on entrance scores for group discussion, personal interview and writing ability test. The final decision also considers performance in GD and PI, WAT, career marks and entrance score. This means an applicant should prepare for communication and written assessment as well as the exam. The page does not publish the relative weight of each component, a formula for career marks or a fixed cutoff. Do not treat a strong test score as a promise of selection.
The documents listed for GD and PI are the Class 10 certificate and mark sheet, Class 12 certificate and mark sheet, graduation certificate and semester mark sheets, entrance scorecard, passport photograph and work-experience certificate if applicable. KSOM notes that the list may change and that updates will be communicated. Final-year students should carry the available semester records and follow the separate degree-completion and submission dates; applicants should not assume the documents needed at interview are the final admission checklist.
If selected, candidates are notified through an admission offer letter containing the applicable terms. KSOM says the offer must be accepted through its acceptance letter and other documents, and that the fee stipulated in the offer must be paid to retain the seat. Read the offer closely for the amount, due date, refund or forfeiture terms, and any programme-specific condition before paying. The admission site’s stated selection process does not itself disclose a seat count or guarantee that all shortlisted candidates will receive offers.
For the 2027 cycle, the practical timeline is tight for the KIITEE route: application closes on 4 January, the test runs 9-11 January and the result is listed for 20 January, followed by GD and PI in the first week of February. The other-score route closes on 20 January but reaches the same February selection window. Keep a valid email and phone number active and check the admissions portal after each step, since test credentials, interview instructions and offer terms are candidate-specific.
Before you submit
- Confirm the route and score year. Choose KIITEE Management 2027 or an accepted national-test score that KSOM recognises for MBA 2027. Check CAT-2026 or XAT-2027 examples against your own scorecard.
- Check the threshold on every academic stage. The published rule is at least 50% in graduation, Class 10 and Class 12. If your result uses CGPA, follow the issuing institution’s certified conversion or KSOM’s stated fallback.
- Use the correct deadline. KIITEE Management applications close 4 January 2027; other national-test applications close 20 January 2027. The examination dates are not application deadlines.
- Plan for GD, PI and WAT. Both routes lead to the same selection stages. Keep the listed school records and scorecard ready, and wait for the candidate-specific centre and time.
- Check the live form and offer terms. Confirm your course, score edition, document instructions and any application fee shown before payment. The current page links the official application portal and bulletin; the public pages reviewed do not provide a complete 2027 refund schedule or detailed score-weighting formula.
The school’s application page links to its online form, while the eligibility and selection page lists academic criteria and documents. Contact KSOM through its official contact page if your score year, final-year status or document timing is not covered clearly. Use a written answer where the portal and published instructions appear inconsistent, and retain the response with your application records.
