KGMU Admission 2027-28: NEET, counselling and what to verify
King George's Medical University (KGMU) is the state university in Lucknow listed at the official KGMU site. Its official course page says that MBBS and BDS admission is through NEET. That establishes the entrance route, but it does not publish a 2027-28 seat matrix or counselling calendar. As of 6 November 2026, KGMU's notice board lists Bachelor Admission 2026 Instructions, while the national and Uttar Pradesh counselling sites still carry 2026-cycle material. Applicants planning for 2027-28 should use those pages as route guidance, not as next year's dates or seat allotment. KGMU Courses/Admission · KGMU notice board
First identify the programme
KGMU offers medical, dental, nursing, paramedical and other programmes. The admission path is not the same for every course. The university's course page identifies NEET as the route for MBBS and BDS. Its notice board separately posts admission instructions for bachelor courses and allied-health or paramedical diplomas. Do not assume that a NEET UG score is the only application step for a medical degree, or that it is required for every diploma, nursing course or other bachelor programme. Start from the current notice for the exact programme and academic session, then follow the authority named there. KGMU Courses/Admission · KGMU notice board
The university's page also contains older seat figures and postgraduate admission text. Those statements are not presented there as a 2027-28 seat matrix, and the older postgraduate counselling description should not be used as current policy. Confirm each programme's qualification, exam, seat count and counselling channel in a dated notice for the year you are applying. If a current notice does not specify a detail, treat it as unconfirmed and ask the responsible counselling authority rather than filling the gap with a previous year's number.
MBBS and BDS: NEET is the entrance route
For MBBS and BDS, KGMU identifies NEET as the entrance examination. Applicants should read the National Testing Agency's bulletin for the relevant NEET UG cycle for eligibility, application dates, examination instructions and results. Those rules can change from one year to the next, so an older bulletin or a coaching summary is not a substitute for the current notice. NTA NEET UG · KGMU Courses/Admission
Qualifying NEET and completing counselling are separate steps. After the result, an eligible candidate must follow the applicable official counselling process, register within its window, enter choices as required, check allotment results and complete reporting formalities by the stated deadline. A NEET rank by itself is not an admission offer, and a candidate should not assume that simply listing KGMU on one portal completes every applicable application.
Use the right counselling portal
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) publishes UG All India Quota counselling schedules and instructions. The Uttar Pradesh NEET portal publishes the state's UG policy, schedules, seat matrices, merit lists and choice-filling notices. These are distinct official sources; check both when deciding which counselling process applies to a particular KGMU seat. The exact quota, course, participating-institute entry, eligibility and current seat count must match the official documents for that year. Do not copy a quota split or seat number from an old KGMU page into a new cycle. MCC UG counselling schedules · UP NEET counselling
In the 2026 cycle, MCC's site listed UG All India Quota schedules and additional rounds, while UP NEET listed separate 2026 policy and counselling notices. This shows why applicants need to track the live schedule rather than rely on a general description of counselling. Round names, dates, eligibility conditions and available seats can change during a cycle. Check for revised notices before choice filling and again before reporting. Other courses use programme-specific instructions
KGMU's official notice board lists Bachelor Admission 2026 Instructions, notice 761/KGMUIPMS dated 6 August 2026. It also carries separate 2026-27 notices for allied-health and paramedical diploma admission and document verification. The notice title alone does not establish every eligibility rule or whether a particular programme uses NEET; open the actual notice and course-specific prospectus before applying. For the 2027-28 intake, wait for the corresponding year's instructions instead of treating the 2026 notice as still open. KGMU notice board
Postgraduate medical and dental routes also require separate checks. The UP NEET portal lists PG policy and brochure material separately from its UG notices, while MCC publishes its own counselling information. Use the current NEET-PG or NEET-MDS bulletin and the relevant counselling authority's current policy for the course you want. KGMU's undated legacy course page contains historical postgraduate counselling wording; it is not used here as the current division of seats or the current route. A practical application checklist
- Name the programme and cycle. Write down the exact KGMU course and the academic session in the current notice. MBBS, BDS, postgraduate medical courses, nursing and paramedical programmes can have different eligibility and application routes.
- Read the primary notice first. Use the NTA bulletin for NEET UG or the relevant postgraduate examination, then read MCC or UP NEET counselling instructions when those channels apply. For other KGMU programmes, start with the programme's own notice and prospectus.
- Track every portal separately. Save the application and counselling registration confirmations, follow revised schedules, and check choice-filling and reporting dates on the responsible portal. Do not infer a deadline from last year's calendar.
- Verify the exact KGMU entry. Confirm the programme, campus, quota, category rules and seat matrix before locking choices. The university page's older seat figures are not a substitute for the current allotment list.
- Use the current document and payment instructions. Keep the required certificates, scorecard and identity documents ready as specified by the current prospectus. Counselling fees, security deposits and KGMU admission payments can differ by process and category; use the applicable official schedule rather than an old fee summary.
- Complete reporting and verification. An allotment is not the end of the process. Follow the current instructions for accepting a seat, document verification, fee payment and reporting to KGMU. Keep proof of each submission and contact the named authority promptly if a portal or document issue appears.
What is known for 2027-28
The captured official material establishes NEET as the entrance route KGMU lists for MBBS and BDS and shows that the university and counselling authorities publish separate programme and cycle notices. It does not establish 2027-28 application dates, cut-offs, category-wise seats, fee amounts or a current postgraduate quota division. Those details should be added only when KGMU, NTA, MCC or UP NEET publishes the matching 2027-28 notice. For now, use the 2026 pages to understand where updates appear, then check the new cycle's documents before making a decision.
