Polaris SoftwareLord Venkateshwaraa Engineering College (LVEC) is a private institution in Kanchipuram that has been offering engineering degrees since 2001. Affiliated with Anna University, it operates on a budget-conscious model, with B.Tech fees that are notably lower than many private peers in Tamil Nadu. That's the primary draw. But the college exists in a kind of informational void—official placement stats are absent, and genuine, recent student reviews are scarce. The few that exist paint a stark picture. For a student whose primary goal is an affordable Anna University degree and who is prepared to be entirely self-driven, LVEC might be an option. For anyone prioritizing campus life, robust placements, or a supportive academic environment, the available data suggests looking elsewhere is almost certainly the wiser choice.
The academic portfolio is standard for an Anna University affiliate. At the undergraduate level, LVEC offers the classic suite of B.E. programs: Computer Science and Engineering (90 seats), Electronics and Communication Engineering (120 seats), Information Technology (90 seats), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (60 seats), Mechanical Engineering (30 seats), and Civil Engineering (30 seats). The intake numbers, last reported from their starting years, show a clear focus on the tech-centric branches.
For postgraduates, options include a Master of Computer Applications (MCA), a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Engineering (M.E.) programs in Computer Science and Engineering and Embedded Systems. The college states a focus on instilling discipline, commitment, and accountability. Students are encouraged to participate in national-level project exhibitions and seminars, and the curriculum includes organizational visits to cities like Delhi and Bangalore. The library, spread over 4000 sq. ft., holds a collection of 17,000 volumes. It's a basic, affiliation-driven academic structure. You'll follow the Anna University syllabus, take their exams, and the quality of your daily instruction will hinge entirely on the department faculty you get.
This is the section with the most significant data gaps—and that in itself is a data point. The college's official website and available briefs do not publish any placement statistics for recent years: no highest package, no average package, no median package, and no placement percentage. Recruiter names are drawn from older data (2017-2018) and include companies like Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), L&T, Hyundai Motors, and Jothi Electrical's.
But the student sentiment, however limited, introduces a harsh reality check. An old review specifically for LVEC rated placements at 0.5 out of 5. That's about as low as it gets. While a single review isn't definitive, the complete absence of contemporary, positive placement narratives or official success metrics is telling. The likely scenario is that placement activity is minimal and irregular. Students from core branches like Mechanical or Civil might find it particularly challenging. If you enroll here, you should operate under the assumption that securing a job will be almost entirely your own responsibility, through off-campus drives or personal networking. The college's transport facilities to Chennai could be a practical asset for attending interviews elsewhere.
The fee structure is where LVEC presents its most concrete advantage. It's one of the more affordable private engineering colleges in the region.
Admissions follow the standard Tamil Nadu state procedures.
The process is straightforward but hinges on your state exam performance. If you have a modest Class 12 score, getting a B.Tech seat here through TNEA is feasible.
The campus is located in Puliambakkam, about 18 km from the Kanchipuram district headquarters. It's a self-contained setup but relatively isolated.
Infrastructure is described as functional. Labs are department-based and termed "well-equipped." There's an auditorium for events. Sports facilities exist for football, cricket, chess, and table tennis, and a gym is available. The canteen and a health centre with first-aid are on site. A notable feature is the college's own transport fleet, which services routes from Chennai, Chengalpet, Kalpakkam, Arakkonam, and surrounding areas—a necessity given the location.
The hostels, for both boys and girls, are on campus. They offer vegetarian and non-vegetarian meal options in dining halls, with a 24-hour water supply. Room allotment is first-come, first-served. However, the limited student feedback rates campus life at 1.5/5 and infrastructure at 1/5. This suggests the facilities, while existing, may be poorly maintained or inadequate. Don't expect a "vibrant" campus scene. Social life will likely be limited to your immediate friend group and hostel block.
Here's the crucial part: finding authentic, recent student sentiment for Lord Venkateshwaraa Engineering College is incredibly difficult. Most search results and reviews conflate it with the entirely separate and more established "Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering" (SVCE).
The few genuine fragments specific to LVEC that exist are old and overwhelmingly negative. One review from 2015 titled "Worst Ever College" gives a stark rating breakdown: Infrastructure (1/5), Academics (2/5), Placements (0.5/5), Campus Life (1.5/5). No countervailing positive reviews from verifiable alumni are present in the public domain.
This creates a significant trust gap. The absence of positive word-of-mouth, even on anonymous forums, is a red flag. It points to a college that has not built a reputation for student satisfaction or outcomes. While a single review isn't a full verdict, the complete lack of any defensive or proud alumni voices speaking up online is telling. Students should be deeply cautious and, if possible, try to speak to a current attendee directly before committing.
This college serves a very specific, narrow need. It's worth considering only if your situation is this: you are determined to get a B.E./B.Tech degree from an Anna University-affiliated college, your Class 12 marks and TNEA rank are low, your budget is extremely tight, and you have no other admission options. The low fee is the sole compelling argument.
For everyone else, the risks likely outweigh the cost savings. The non-existent placement record, the alarmingly poor student feedback, and the lack of accreditation or rankings suggest an institution that provides the bare legal minimum for degree conferral. You will not find a supportive career ecosystem, a stimulating campus environment, or a reputation that opens doors. Your education and job search will be a solo mission. If you have the option, even a slightly more expensive polytechnic or a different private college with verifiable placement data would be a more secure investment. Lord Venkateshwaraa Engineering College is a last-resort option for the highly resourceful and independent student who views the degree itself as the only non-negotiable goal.
The college offers B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, and Information Technology. Postgraduate programs include an MBA, MCA, and M.E. in Computer Science & Engineering and Embedded Systems.
For B.E./B.Tech, admission is through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling based on Class 12 marks. For M.E., MBA, and MCA, admissions are based on TANCET scores. The MBA program also accepts CAT, MAT, XAT, or CMAT scores, and M.E. accepts GATE scores or the college's own entrance exam.
Total fees for the 4-year B.E./B.Tech program range from approximately ₹2 lakh to ₹4.35 lakh. For postgraduates, the total cost is around ₹60,000 for M.E. (2 years), and ₹41,000 each for the MBA (2 years) and MCA (3 years) programs.
On-campus hostels for boys and girls are available, providing veg and non-veg meals. Approximate annual costs include ₹27,600 for mess, ₹12,000 for room rent, ₹2,700 for electricity, and additional one-time charges like a ₹2,000 caution deposit.
Based on very limited and older reviews, student sentiment is overwhelmingly negative. One review from 2015 rated it poorly across infrastructure (1/5), academics (2/5), placements (0.5/5), and campus life (1.5/5), calling it the "Worst Ever College." Recent, positive student testimonials are absent.
