Courses and Academic Programs at MK School of Engineering and Technology

The academic portfolio is lean and focused on traditional engineering disciplines. All B.Tech programs are four-year, full-time courses under the PTU syllabus. Each specialization—Civil, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, and Mechanical—has an intake of 60 students. Alongside the B.Tech degrees, the college also runs Diploma (Polytechnic) programs in Civil and Mechanical Engineering, which are typically three-year courses.

For postgraduates, there's a two-year, AICTE-approved MBA program affiliated with PTU.

The academic approach seems geared towards practical exposure. They mandate industrial visits every year for B.Tech students and provide a six-month industrial training stint. In the final semester, an "Industry-Interface" program is conducted, and special communication and personality development classes kick in during the third and fourth years to prep students for placements. It's a structured attempt to bridge the classroom-industry gap, which is a common pain point in many tier-3 colleges.

The faculty body consists of 68 members. The college highlights that they are well-qualified with M.Tech and PhD degrees, and experience ranges from 3 to 40 years. Department heads are listed for each engineering stream, like Dr. Madhulika Gupta for Computer Science and Mr. Ashok Suri for Civil. It's a decent-sized faculty for the student intake, which should, in theory, allow for reasonable attention.

MK School of Engineering and Technology Placements: Packages, Companies & Reality Check

This is where the data gets thin, and a dose of skepticism is healthy. The college's official stance, as per their materials, is that they provide "100% Placement assistance" and "try to put in our hundred percent." That's an important distinction—assistance is not a guarantee of an offer. Concrete numbers like highest, average, or median packages for the engineering school are not publicly disclosed, which is often the case with newer or smaller private colleges.

The list of "frequently visited companies" provided for the broader MK Group of Institutes includes TCS, Air India, and several hotel chains like Radisson Blu and Holiday Inn. This suggests two primary recruitment pipelines: IT/service roles via TCS, and hospitality management roles likely for MBA or other programs. For core engineering placements in Civil or Mechanical, the recruiter list from available data is silent.

The six-month industrial training provided by the college is a positive, as it at least ensures students graduate with some hands-on experience on their resume. But when evaluating this college, prospective students should manage expectations. It's prudent to assume that securing a job will require significant individual initiative, leveraging that training experience, and possibly looking beyond campus drive season. The placement cell provides a platform, but the outcome heavily depends on the student's own profile and the market conditions.

Fees and Financial Aid at MK School of Engineering and Technology

The fee structure is one of MKSET's clearer selling points, especially for a private institution. For the B.Tech program, the total academic fee for the entire four-year duration is cited as ₹3.66 lakhs for the 2026-27 batch. The first-year cost, including academic and other fees, works out to roughly ₹1.08 lakhs. That's a notably affordable rate for a full B.Tech degree in the current landscape.

Polytechnic diplomas are even more economical, with a total academic fee around ₹85,000 for the entire program.

Hostel and mess fees aren't broken down in the available data, but the college confirms separate hostels for boys and girls with three meals provided daily. Adding hostel costs will increase the annual expense, but the total should still remain on the lower end compared to many private engineering colleges in Punjab.

Scholarship options are clearly stated: Free Education for SC/ST students, a Special Scholarship for Girl Students, and Scholarships for Meritorious Students. These policies can substantially reduce the financial burden for eligible candidates.

Admissions: Eligibility, Cutoffs & Selection Process

Admission into the B.Tech programs follows the common Punjab private college model. Eligibility is based on 10+2 scores with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

The selection process splits the 60 seats in each branch into two buckets: 40 seats are filled based on merit in the Punjab State Level Entrance Test (CET). The remaining 20 seats per branch are allocated through the Management Quota. This means a significant portion of the class can enter based on direct application and possibly higher fees, without a CET rank.

For CET-based admissions, specific cutoff ranks or percentiles for MKSET aren't published. Given its profile and location, it's unlikely to have highly competitive cutoffs; it often becomes an option for students with moderate CET scores. The application process involves downloading a form from the official institute website.

The presence of a management quota is a standard feature but is something to be aware of, as it influences the peer group's academic diversity.

Campus, Hostels and Student Life

The campus is functional. At 10.8 acres, it's not sprawling but provides the necessary infrastructure. Academically, they've invested in labs—listing over a dozen specialized labs from Hydraulics and Concrete to CAD and Microprocessor labs. The computer centre has branded systems with 24-hour internet, and the campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The library is described as a fairly large, computerized facility with journals and photocopying services.

For daily living, separate hostels for boys and girls offer shared rooms and three meals a day, which the college emphasizes are hygienic. A cafeteria, medical room, and college transport for commuters round out the essential services. There's an auditorium and modern classrooms.

Extracurriculars include standard sports facilities: grounds for cricket, football, volleyball, a badminton court, and a gym. There's no mention of major annual fests or a vibrant club culture in the available data. The social life is likely quiet and campus-bound, which suits some students but might feel limiting to others. The overall atmosphere is described officially as "friendly and disciplined."

Student Reviews: What MK School of Engineering and Technology Alumni Really Think

Here's the most critical gap in the profile: a genuine, verifiable stream of student reviews for MK School of Engineering and Technology is conspicuously absent from major public forums like CollegeDunia, Shiksha, or Reddit threads. Many platforms show zero reviews or generic, overly positive testimonials that lack specific detail.

This lack of organic chatter online is a data point in itself. It often indicates a few things: a smaller student body, less digitally vocal alumni, or a college that hasn't yet built a strong reputation—positive or negative—that prompts public review. The official positives tout a friendly environment and a focus on practical skills. Without countervailing negative reviews from students, it's impossible to identify common grievances about teaching quality, management behavior, or placement realities.

Prospective students should treat this as a yellow flag. It means doing extra due diligence. If possible, visiting the campus, talking to current students directly, or asking the administration very specific questions about placement records and faculty turnover is highly recommended. Don't rely on the brochure alone.

Verdict: Is MK School of Engineering and Technology Worth It?

MK School of Engineering and Technology is a pragmatic choice for a specific student. It's for the local student from Amritsar or nearby districts who wants to study engineering close to home at a controlled cost. It's for the candidate with a moderate Punjab CET rank who is looking for a confirmed seat in a standard PTU-affiliated program without the premium price tag of more branded colleges.

The low fees and stated scholarships are its strongest tangible assets. The infrastructure, while not luxurious, covers the academic basics. The placement picture is unclear—the assistance is offered, but proven, high-paying outcomes are not demonstrated. Success here will likely depend heavily on the student's own drive to capitalize on the industrial training and build a competitive skillset independently.

Who should look elsewhere? Students seeking a vibrant, residential campus life with active fests and clubs might find it too quiet. Those aiming for top-tier IT or core engineering placements through campus drives should probably target institutions with a longer, more documented track record. And anyone who relies on extensive peer reviews online to make a decision will find the silence here unnerving. For the right, self-motivated student who values affordability and proximity, MKSET can serve as a functional launchpad for an engineering career. Just go in with your eyes open, and your own hustle ready.
