NIT Kurukshetra’s latest published undergraduate admission material is for academic year 2026-27. The institute says B.Tech candidates are admitted using JEE (Main) scores through JoSAA; after the common rounds, eligible vacant NIT+ seats may be offered through CSAB Special. The institute’s B.Tech admissions page links the 2026 JoSAA business rules, CSAB brochure, frozen seat matrix, physical-reporting instructions and academic calendar. These are useful for understanding the route, but their dates and eligibility belong to the 2026 cycle. As of 1 November 2026, do not treat them as an announced 2027-28 schedule. Check eligibility before choosing a route
For NIT+ B.E./B.Tech. seats in JoSAA 2026, applicants needed a JEE Main Paper 1 rank and had to meet the qualifying-examination requirement set out in that year’s business rules. The 2026 rule offered two alternatives: at least 75% aggregate marks, reduced to 65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates, or placement within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in the relevant board examination. The rules specify the qualifying subjects and how the aggregate is calculated, including the treatment of candidates who take improvement examinations. Read the rule itself before deciding which marks to submit; a coaching summary or a general NIT eligibility description may miss the board-year and subject details. The 2026 thresholds are historical until the next JoSAA edition confirms or changes them. JoSAA Business Rules 2026
The institute’s 2026 page also lists B.Arch. and integrated B.Tech–M.Tech options. Do not assume B.Tech Paper 1 requirements cover Architecture: use the matching programme entry and examination paper in the current rules and seat matrix. The same caution applies to different degree lengths and programme names. The frozen seat matrix is the authoritative 2026 list of institute-programme combinations and seat pools. It separates Haryana from Other State pools, gender-neutral from female-only seats, and category/PwD allocations. Those divisions change which options a candidate is eligible to list and make a single “NIT Kurukshetra cutoff” number misleading. 2026 UG seat matrix
JoSAA choices and seat allocation
After qualifying, a candidate registers on the official JoSAA portal during the announced window and places eligible institute-programme choices in genuine preference order. The 2026 business rules explain that allocation depends on rank, category, quota and seat pool, the ordered choices, and seats available in each round. A rank alone cannot confirm a branch or guarantee an offer. Before locking choices, compare the exact programme name, home-state or Other State pool, category and gender pool shown in the seat matrix. A candidate should rank options by willingness to accept them, not by an assumption that a past closing rank is a promise for the next round.
If JoSAA offers a seat, follow the portal’s instructions for acceptance, document verification and payment within the stated deadline. The 2026 rules distinguish seat acceptance and option choices such as freeze, float and slide; each has a different effect on whether the candidate keeps the seat while remaining eligible for a higher preference. Read the live description in the portal before selecting an option, save the confirmation and transaction record, and check the candidate dashboard rather than relying only on email or an unofficial calendar. The rulebook warns that missing a required step can forfeit the offer; no later institute visit substitutes for completing central counselling requirements.
CSAB Special is a separate later route
CSAB Special 2026 was a separate process to fill eligible vacant seats after JoSAA. Its brochure has its own candidate eligibility, registration, special-round fee, choice filling and locking, allotment and reporting rules. It is not safe to assume that a JoSAA registration automatically enrolls a candidate in CSAB Special or that every candidate can participate on the same terms. Candidates should read the current CSAB brochure, check the vacancy and seat matrix, and understand category-restoration and withdrawal provisions before paying or submitting choices. The institute’s page links the CSAB 2026 brochure, but 2027 applicants must use the later brochure when it is issued. CSAB Special Rounds 2026 brochure
NIT Kurukshetra also has a separate DASA UG route for eligible international applicants. The institute links the DASA 2026 brochure alongside JoSAA and CSAB materials. DASA has its own applicant categories, eligibility, payment and seat allocation instructions; an Indian JoSAA choice list should not be treated as a substitute. Applicants must check the DASA edition and the programme’s actual seat availability for their year. Institute admission page and DASA link
Reporting after an allotment
An allotment is followed by institute reporting. For 2026-27, the institute posted a physical-reporting schedule for candidates admitted to B.Tech., B.Arch. and integrated B.Tech–M.Tech. through JoSAA/CSAB, along with a required document list, personal information form and academic calendar. The institute calendar states classes were scheduled to start on 24 August 2026. That date is a 2026-27 event, not a future intake date. Candidates should download the latest institute instructions, prepare self-attested copies in the order requested, complete any online forms and pay the institute fee specified for their programme and category. Hostel charges and the admission fee are published separately, so verify what a payment covers before paying again. Physical reporting, document list and calendar
For clarification on B.Tech/B.Arch admission, NIT Kurukshetra lists its Academic admission help desk at 01744-233227/228/223 and the email addresses [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]. Published contact hours are 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 2:30–5:30 p.m. on working days. Use JoSAA or CSAB for counselling actions and the institute for institute-specific reporting questions; the institute itself advises candidates to consult the central prospectus for counselling queries. What to prepare for the next intake
The 2027-28 application calendar, eligibility thresholds, seat matrix, fees and reporting dates were not present in the official materials reviewed on 1 November 2026. Do not infer a deadline from the 2026 schedule. Applicants can prepare by checking that their JEE Main registration details and board records match, keeping category and PwD certificates current where applicable, and reviewing the next JoSAA rules as soon as released. Then compare the live NIT Kurukshetra seat matrix with the exact programme options they intend to rank. When an allotment is issued, follow the portal’s current acceptance/payment steps first, then the institute’s latest reporting instructions. Recheck the official pages close to each deadline because schedules and document requirements can change during a cycle.
