Start with the scheme, not the institute name
NIT Kurukshetra’s scholarship-notifications page is a noticeboard for several different routes, not one universal award for every student. It lists the 2026-27 National Scholarship Portal (NSP) invitation, a Haryana Post Matric notice for eligible SC/BC students, and separate Siemens, Reliance Foundation and OPJEMS notices. These have different administrators and selection steps. A notice appearing on the institute site means students should read it; it does not by itself establish that every NIT Kurukshetra applicant meets the conditions or will receive funding. For a prospective 2027-28 student, the practical first question is which scheme’s stated criteria match your situation. Government welfare schemes may depend on category, residence, family income, course and renewal status. Merit schemes may depend on academic results or entrance performance, while a private or foundation award may use nomination, interviews or other selection rounds. Check the scheme’s own current notice for the correct year and applicant group. Do not treat a previous student’s award, an old amount or a general web listing as proof that the same benefit applies to you.
The current sources reviewed here document 2026-27 activity and older completed awards. They do not announce a 2027-28 scholarship deadline, eligibility decision or guaranteed award. Use the older examples below to understand the kinds of requirements that may recur, then replace them with the operative notice when the institute or provider publishes it.
NSP applications require scheme eligibility and institute verification
NIT Kurukshetra’s 16 June 2026 scholarship notice invited eligible students to submit fresh or renewal applications on NSP by each scheme’s prescribed last date. It asked students to submit supporting documents to the institute Scholarship Desk within seven days after completing the portal application or before the closing date, whichever applied first. This is a 2026-27 process notice; applicants should not assume its dates or document window carry forward to 2027-28. NIT Kurukshetra NSP invitation, AY 2026-27
The institute’s annexure lists a current-semester or current-year bonafide certificate, a current financial-year parent/guardian income certificate, category certificate, fee demand, scholarship application and academic marksheet. It asks for a JEE Main/Advanced rank certificate for fresh applications but marks it not required for renewal applications. A hostel certificate is conditional, and applicants must supply other documents required by the particular scheme. The 2026-27 notice specifies that the income certificate should be issued by a Tehsildar or Revenue Officer for financial year 2026-27. Confirm the issuing authority and financial year in the next notice instead of reusing this historical checklist without checking. NIT Kurukshetra NSP invitation, AY 2026-27
NSP identifies the current portal year as 2026-27 and says One Time Registration (OTR) is required to apply. Its page says students may apply for one merit-based scheme and one or more welfare-based schemes in that year, subject to each scheme’s eligibility. That portal-level statement is not an award guarantee: the scheme conditions and the institute’s verification still control an individual application. Keep the portal application ID and submit documents through the stated process; do not assume a portal submission alone completes institutional verification. National Scholarship Portal
Read institute and external awards by their exact year
The institute’s final merit list for academic year 2025-26 records a B.Tech first-year award based on first-semester examination results and states an amount of ₹5,000 for that year. It also lists recipients by programme and academic position. This is evidence of a completed historical merit award, not a published 2026-27 or 2027-28 amount or eligibility rule. The same notice says a recipient may not receive another similar scholarship or stipend from another government fund. That condition belongs to this notice; compare it with the terms of any other scheme rather than assuming that all aid can be combined or that this one rule applies everywhere. NIT Kurukshetra final merit list, AY 2025-26
OPJEMS is a separate provider-led route. NIT Kurukshetra’s 2026 notice lists the institute among participants and describes an engineering award of ₹80,000. Its 2026 process required institute nomination, then registration and a business proposal, followed by an online test and an interview for shortlisted candidates. The notice’s registration and proposal deadline was 15 September 2026; its final result date was 30 October 2026. Those dates describe the completed 2026 round, not a live application or next-year schedule. A future applicant should wait for a new notice and verify which programme years and branches are eligible before planning around an external award. NIT Kurukshetra OPJEMS 2026 notice
The notification page also lists 2026-27 Siemens and Reliance Foundation invitations. Their presence signals separate opportunities, not a common institute scholarship. Read each provider’s current eligibility, benefit, deadline, selection method and payment terms directly. This page does not state an amount or applicant eligibility for those schemes because the notices reviewed do not support one general figure.
Recheck dates, overlap rules and documents before applying
The NSP page observed for this update displayed 2026-27 as its academic year and listed a 31 October 2026 student deadline for renewal applications under PM-USP CSSS and the PM-USP special scholarship for Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. It listed 15 November for institute verification and 30 November for L2 verification. As of 1 November 2026, the student-application date shown had passed. Do not assume that a late application or extension is available; check the live portal and the exact scheme notice for an updated status. These dates do not establish a 2027-28 application window. National Scholarship Portal
Before you submit, check whether the scheme is for a fresh or renewal applicant, whether the institute or provider must nominate you, which academic year and course are covered, what income/category proofs are accepted, and whether similar awards may be held together. Keep copies of the submitted application and documents. If a notice requires an institute copy, follow its Scholarship Desk instructions and timing. Use only contact details on the current institute or provider page, and be wary of anyone asking for money in exchange for a promised scholarship; NIT Kurukshetra’s noticeboard itself carries an advisory against false promises and money collection.
For help with the 2026-27 NSP process, the institute’s notice identifies the Scholarship Desk under the Office of the Dean (Academic), Room 203, first floor, Golden Jubilee Administrative Building, and lists [email protected] and [email protected]. Confirm that these details remain current before sending documents. No scholarship should be treated as approved until the relevant authority confirms selection and disbursement.
