Start with the programme and the admission year
Admission to a B.Sc. Forensic Sciences course does not follow one national route. Universities may use an entrance test, CUET, qualifying-examination marks or another process, and a course that combines criminology may have different conditions from a Forensic Science programme. Before selecting an application, write down the exact programme title, degree structure, campus and academic year. Then use the official admission matrix and programme page for that combination. A general search result that only says “B.Sc. Forensic Science admission” cannot settle the accepted test subjects, category rules or counselling steps.
For one clearly scoped example, NFSU’s AY 2026–27 admission matrix lists CUET-UG 2026 for its integrated B.Sc.–M.Sc. Forensic Science programme. It names four possible subject codes: 304 Biology, 306 Chemistry, 322 Physics and 319 Mathematics. The matrix states that applicants must have passed or appeared in 10+2 or equivalent in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics. Its minimum marks are 55% for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS candidates and 50% or equivalent for SC/ST and PwD candidates. These details belong to this programme and this cycle. They are not a confirmed rule for another institution, the separate B.Sc. Criminology and Forensic Science course, or the 2027–28 admission year. Check the official 2026–27 matrix and the NFSU CSAS portal for their current versions.
Complete the application in the right order
First confirm that you meet the programme’s qualifying-examination and subject conditions. For a CUET route, register for the papers named in the current matrix and use the same subject codes when reviewing the university’s application instructions. The existence of a CUET paper or a good score does not make it relevant to every programme. Check whether the university requires a separate application after CUET registration, how it matches your score to your course choice, and whether a campus preference must be entered separately.
Second, submit the university application through the correct portal and retain the confirmation. Save the application number, payment receipt and a copy of the submitted preference form. If the portal permits correction, compare each change to your marksheets and category records before final submission. Do not wait until the correction window to repair an obvious issue if the admission notice provides a helpline or documented support channel.
Third, follow the merit list and counselling notices. NFSU’s CSAS portal shows that its 2026–27 cycle had counselling and later programme-specific notices. It also records an extension for applications to the integrated B.Sc.–M.Sc. Forensic Science and the separate B.Sc. Criminology and Forensic Science programmes from 15 June to 2 July 2026. That was a dated extension for AY 2026–27. It is not the normal application schedule and should not be copied as a 2027 deadline. When a notice changes a date, confirm that it applies to your programme and campus, then save the notice with the date and time shown.
The current notice should tell you how preferences, merit positions, seat availability and category provisions are used. Read instructions about accepting an offer, paying an admission amount, reporting to campus and withdrawing from a choice. A minimum eligibility threshold is not an admission cutoff. It permits an applicant to be considered; it does not tell you what score will secure a seat or how a rank will move between rounds. Avoid treating a prior year’s merit list as a guaranteed predictor for a later cohort.
Prepare documents and track your offer
Use the university’s current checklist for upload size, format and verification stage. As a planning aid, keep qualifying-examination results, identity and date-of-birth proof, entrance-test registration and score details, photograph, application confirmation and payment receipt together. Applicants claiming a reserved category or PwD provision should check the certificate format, issuing authority, validity and submission stage specified for their cycle. This list is not a substitute for the official document checklist, which may require additional records or different file formats.
Check consistency across documents before submitting: spelling of names, date of birth, school details and category records should match the institution’s application. If a legitimate discrepancy exists, ask the admissions office how it should be documented rather than altering a certificate or assuming that a note will be accepted. Keep originals and clear copies available for verification. Confirm whether documents must be uploaded with the initial application or shown only after shortlisting.
After counselling, read the complete offer before paying. Verify the course title, campus, degree structure, academic year, reporting instructions, fee deadline, refund rules and the conditions attached to any provisional admission. If an offer says you must satisfy a pending Class 12 condition, note the date by which final proof must be supplied. Keep a written record of any request for clarification. If you accept a seat, make sure you understand whether that action affects other choices or a later round.
Plan for the 2027 cycle without importing last year’s dates
The admission information linked above establishes NFSU’s 2026–27 process only. The extension dates, CUET papers and category conditions should be checked again when the university publishes the next cycle’s matrix. A calendar change does not itself announce a new rule. For 2027 entry, look for the latest programme-wise matrix, application advertisement, portal guide, reservation policy, counselling notices and any corrigendum. Use the publication date and exact course line in each document to confirm that it has not been superseded.
If two official pages appear to disagree, compare their scope and update dates. A general programme page can list a course’s basic eligibility while a cycle-specific matrix supplies the accepted entrance papers or a revised category rule. Ask the admissions office to resolve any remaining difference in writing before you pay or lock choices. Do not silently choose whichever figure is more convenient.
For a practical timeline, work backwards from the current official deadline once it is announced. Leave time for CUET registration, university application, document correction and certificate verification. Set reminders for the application confirmation, correction window, merit lists, counselling choices and fee payment. Recheck the portal around those milestones because notices can change. For now, treat the 2026 dates as historical context and prepare your academic records and questions while waiting for the 2027–28 instructions. This keeps your application anchored to the course you actually want and the rules that apply to your cohort.
