Check the named degree and current admission cycle
Eligibility for a B.Sc. Forensic Sciences course is set by the institution and the exact programme, not by the broad subject label. Before checking marks, identify whether the offer is for a standalone bachelor’s degree, a bachelor’s stage inside an integrated B.Sc.–M.Sc. programme, or a course that combines criminology and forensic science. These structures can have different entrance tests, subject requirements, category thresholds and progression rules. A rule copied from a course with a similar title may not apply to your application.
For the NFSU integrated B.Sc.–M.Sc. Forensic Science programme, the AY 2026–27 admission matrix accepts CUET-UG 2026 subject codes 304 Biology, 306 Chemistry, 322 Physics or 319 Mathematics. It says applicants must have passed or appeared in 10+2 or equivalent in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics. The listed minimum is 55% for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS candidates and 50% or equivalent for SC/ST and PwD candidates. The university’s programme page repeats the 55% and 50% thresholds. These are the published requirements for that NFSU programme and cycle, not a national eligibility rule or a confirmed 2027–28 rule. See the 2026–27 admission matrix and the NFSU integrated programme page.
Do not carry those percentages over to a course with a different title. NFSU’s separate five-year integrated B.Sc.–M.Sc. Criminology and Forensic Science programme page lists a different threshold: 60% for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% or equivalent for SC/ST and PwD candidates. The page also describes that programme’s mix of criminology and forensic science. This difference is a practical reason to verify the exact programme page and current admission matrix before planning an application. The three-year B.Sc. Criminology and Forensic Science programme is another separate course; consult its own current notice rather than assuming the five-year course’s criteria apply.
Turn the eligibility notice into a personal check
Start with your Class 12 subjects and the qualifying-exam rule. Confirm whether your board, equivalent qualification or result status is accepted. Then compare your subject combination against the exact admission notice. In the NFSU 2026–27 matrix, one of the specified CUET subject codes is listed for integrated Forensic Science; a related subject outside that list should not be assumed to qualify. If you are appearing for the qualifying examination, confirm that the programme allows applicants awaiting results and the deadline by which final marks must be submitted. The 2026 matrix’s wording “passed or appeared” applies to the named programme and cycle; it does not guarantee the same provision in a later notice.
Next, calculate your marks using the method given by the institution. A percentage threshold can depend on the board’s marks format, required subjects or treatment of practical marks. Do not rely on an online calculator unless the admission notice confirms its method. If you are close to a threshold, request a written clarification from the university before paying an application fee. Keep a copy of the answer with the notice version you used.
If you apply under a reserved category or PwD provision, check the category wording carefully. NFSU’s matrix distinguishes General/OBC (NCL)/EWS from SC/ST and PwD for the cited programme. The exact category documents, certificate format, issuing authority and validity period must be taken from the current university instructions. A category claim on an application form does not replace the prescribed certificate. Check whether the certificate must be uploaded with the application, produced at counselling, or verified at admission, and carry originals where required.
Entrance subjects, counselling and documents
For a CUET-based course, match the test paper names and codes in the programme matrix to the subject papers you will actually sit. NFSU’s 2026–27 matrix names four codes for the integrated B.Sc.–M.Sc. Forensic Science programme. Its use of “or” means the listed options are alternatives for this course, but applicants should still consult the full current matrix for any other test, score or application conditions. The matrix is not a score cutoff. Meeting the minimum Class 12 marks threshold and taking an accepted CUET paper makes an applicant eligible to be considered; it does not promise a seat or state the merit position needed for admission.
Admission notices can change subject combinations or selection routes from one cycle to another. For 2027 entry, the opened NFSU documents establish the 2026–27 conditions only. They do not announce 2027–28 criteria. When the new notice is released, check the exact course code, campus, accepted CUET subjects, category thresholds, application window, counselling sequence and document list. Use the notice attached to the live application portal. Search snippets, coaching posts and a previous year’s saved PDF can help you find a topic, but they cannot replace the official current instructions.
Prepare a document folder after confirming the current checklist. Typical items to verify include Class 10 and 12 marksheets or result records, identity and date-of-birth proof, category or disability certificates where applicable, CUET application and score records, photographs and payment confirmation. This is a planning list, not a universal NFSU requirement. The responsible notice determines which documents must be uploaded and which originals are required at verification. Make sure the name and date of birth are consistent across records, or ask the institution how to document a legitimate discrepancy before the counselling deadline.
What eligibility does not tell you
Eligibility is a minimum entry condition, not a judgement of whether the course is the right academic choice. A student may satisfy the marks and subject rule yet still want to compare the amount of chemistry, biology, physics, laboratory work, evidence documentation and legal study in the syllabus. Ask whether the relevant practicals are assessed, what equipment students use and how much supervised practice is available. A course title or admission threshold cannot answer those questions.
Likewise, eligibility does not determine selection. The university may apply an entrance score, merit list, reservation rules, counselling preferences and seat availability under the current cycle’s process. NFSU’s CSAS portal recorded a 2026–27 process with counselling and later programme notices, including an application extension for the integrated B.Sc.–M.Sc. Forensic Science and the separate B.Sc. Criminology and Forensic Science programmes. That history explains why applicants should watch the portal after submitting an application; it is not a future deadline or a guarantee that the same dates will recur.
For a 2027 application, use the next official notice as the final checklist. Confirm that the course is offered at the campus you want, verify your subjects and marks against that programme’s own rule, and retain evidence of each application and counselling step. If two similarly named NFSU courses show different marks or durations, keep their requirements separate in your notes. Ask the admissions office about an unresolved subject, category or qualification question before committing money or choices. This careful check can prevent a simple course-name mix-up from becoming an ineligible application.
