Use the course-specific 2027-28 booklet
The official eligibility rules for the 2027-28 AP EAPCET cycle were not available in the sources checked on 27 October 2026. Eligibility is not a single yes/no test for every course. It depends on the selected E or AP test category, the course sought, qualifying examination and subjects, age clause, local/non-local status and any relevant reservation or certificate. The current examination is called AP EAPCET/APEAPCET on the official APSCHE portal; students may still search AP EAMCET.
The 2026 booklets are useful only as dated examples. They state nationality or PIO/OCI conditions, Andhra Pradesh local/non-local requirements under the year’s government orders, a minimum group-subject percentage and detailed subject/age clauses for individual courses. The next booklet and current admission notification must control a 2027 decision.
Engineering category: check qualifying subjects and route
In the 2026 Engineering booklet, several courses required Intermediate in the 10+2 pattern with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as options, or eligible engineering/technology vocational study under the stated board and bridge-course rules. The booklet also described an eligible engineering diploma route. Candidates awaiting final Intermediate or diploma results could apply in 2026, but rank validity depended on subsequently passing the qualifying examination. These are route-specific provisions, not a blanket statement that every diploma or every three-subject combination qualifies for every course.
Some programmes had additional age rules. The 2026 booklet, for example, set minimum and maximum age limits for certain Dairy Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Food Science and Technology, or related routes. A course’s age clause can differ from another engineering programme’s clause. Check the exact course name and the admission-year reference date rather than calculating age against the current date.
Agriculture and Pharmacy category: subject combinations differ
The 2026 Agriculture/Pharmacy booklet listed subject combinations by course. For agriculture, horticulture, veterinary and fisheries routes, it accepted specified combinations from physical science, biological/natural science, agriculture or related vocational study, as applicable to the course. It listed different combinations for Food Science and Technology, B.Pharmacy and Pharm-D. It also stated that candidates pursuing certain AP-category courses should sit the Biology, Physics and Chemistry paper regardless of the subjects taken in the qualifying examination. The precise wording is important: eligible qualifying subjects and the paper attempted are not always the same question.
Course-specific minimum age conditions also apply. The 2026 booklet used different age clauses for B.Pharmacy and other Agriculture/Pharmacy programmes. Do not transfer one course’s age rule to another. Candidates with an equivalent board, vocational course, changed subject combination or awaiting result should read the equivalence and proviso clauses carefully.
Marks and qualifying status
For 2026, the booklets stated a qualifying percentage of 25% of the maximum marks considered for ranking. They stated that no minimum qualifying mark was prescribed for SC/ST candidates, while their admission remained limited to the seats reserved for those categories. That threshold concerns qualifying in the test; it does not guarantee a rank useful for a preferred course, establish local status or waive admission requirements. The next-cycle booklet may revise criteria, and candidates should not treat a prior-year rule as current.
The 2026 booklets also stated a qualifying-examination minimum of 45%, or 40% for reserved-category candidates, in the specified subjects taken together. Read the clause and the relevant course text together. Do not assume that an entrance-test relaxation automatically changes the separate marks requirement for admission or vice versa.
Local status and documents
The 2026 criteria required candidates to satisfy AP local/non-local status rules under the government orders for 2026-27. The booklets included annexures for local/non-local status and certificate formats. Residence in Andhra Pradesh alone does not necessarily establish the legal status used for seat reservation. A candidate who studied in multiple states, moved from Telangana, or relies on a special category should use the exact current annexure and certificate rules.
Prepare the qualifying-exam hall ticket or records, SSC details, date-of-birth proof, community certificate where applicable, local-status study/residence records and special-category evidence requested in the current booklet. Keep originals and readable copies as instructed. The 2026 application checklist mentioned Aadhaar, income/ration details and relevant local-status evidence; the 2027 form may differ, so use its final upload instructions.
A careful eligibility check
- Name the course and test category before checking a general threshold.
- Match the qualifying subjects and board/recognized-equivalent clause.
- Read age and awaiting-result provisions for that course.
- Separately verify test qualifying marks, admission marks and local-status rules.
- Confirm the required certificate authority, format and validity for each claimed category.
- Recheck current government orders and the official counselling notification before submission.
The 2026 Engineering booklet and Agriculture/Pharmacy booklet show how much rules vary by route. Use them to know what questions to ask, not as a final 2027-28 eligibility ruling.
Separate appearance eligibility from seat eligibility
A candidate can satisfy the requirements to sit a test and still need additional conditions for a particular seat. Check the eligibility clauses at three levels: entry to the exam category, qualifying examination and subjects for the course, and documents/status required during admission. The 2026 booklet’s qualifying threshold and its stated reserved-category treatment concern ranking qualification; they are not a promise of a seat. Course minimum marks, local area, reservation, age and certificate validity must be checked independently against the current cycle’s admission rules.
Check equivalence and result timing
Candidates from a board or programme other than the standard Intermediate route should locate the recognized-equivalent clause and any required bridge course or subject combination. The 2026 Engineering booklet described an eligible diploma route, while the AP-category booklet set combinations by course. Do not infer that a diploma or vocational qualification accepted for one course is accepted for another. Candidates awaiting results should note what proof and final passing date the next booklet requires; appearing for the examination does not remove the later admission condition.
Local-area claims need documentary support
The 2026 booklets referred to local/non-local status under the relevant government orders and included annexures. A candidate’s current address, permanent address and legal local status are not interchangeable. Study history, residence periods and special circumstances can affect which evidence is required. Assemble records early, but use the precise 2027-28 annexure and certificate format when published. If the candidate studied in more than one state or relies on a special provision, seek clarification from the official help desk before the document window closes.
