Check the target programme before registering
Before creating a test appointment, identify the exact business-school programme and application round. Confirm that it accepts the current GMAT or the legacy 10th Edition score you hold, whether it also accepts the GRE, and whether an online score is permitted. Note the official score deadline, score-age rule and any score-selection policy. Schools set those rules independently, and a general statement that a university accepts GMAT may not cover every degree or campus.
GMAT is one application measure, not the complete application. Check separate requirements for academic degrees, work experience, essays, recommendations, English proficiency, application fee and interview. If the course has a test waiver, verify the conditions directly; do not assume that prior experience automatically waives a test requirement.
Create or check your mba.com account
GMAC’s registration route begins with an mba.com account. Review the profile information and make sure the personal details can match the identification document for your test location. Name order, date of birth and citizenship can be important. If you need to correct profile information or resolve an unusual ID situation, contact GMAC before booking. A test-centre appointment can be denied if the identification fails local rules.
Choose Register for the GMAT and select online or test-centre delivery. The formats have different location, equipment, workspace and identity requirements. A centre provides a controlled site; online testing requires a compliant computer, reliable connection and private room that meet the current policies. Check your school accepts the format you intend to use. If you need accommodations, apply and receive approval first, then follow the scheduling instructions in that decision.
Select a date and complete payment
For a test centre, search by city or location, compare available centres and appointment times, then review the address and date. Online appointment options depend on the region and current availability. GMAC appointments are offered throughout the year and commonly appear up to about six months ahead; availability can change. A slot is not reserved until checkout is complete and the confirmation appears in your account.
Fees depend on country, currency, delivery mode and local taxes or regulations. The GMAC payment page directs candidates to select a country to see pricing, but its static text did not expose a readable India price in the 28 October 2026 check. Use the live selected-location and format flow for the amount due. Additional services such as rescheduling, cancellation or score reports can have separate charges. Do not apply another country’s price or an old fee schedule to your booking.
GMAC lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover as accepted credit/debit methods on its general payment page; availability can depend on location. If a payment is declined, the appointment may be cancelled, so verify the account status before trying another payment. Keep the transaction record and booking confirmation. Confirm test version, delivery mode, location, date, time and profile details before leaving checkout.
Prepare the appointment details
Read the location-specific ID requirements for a test-centre appointment. GMAC requires acceptable current original identification that matches the profile; some locations require a passport. For online testing, review check-in, room scan, computer and permitted-item rules. Verify system compatibility and workspace requirements before the appointment rather than on test day. Print or save the confirmation and note the support route in case the appointment does not appear in your account.
The current GMAT lasts 2 hours 15 minutes, with one optional 10-minute break. You can choose section order and may review questions within a section, editing up to three answers if time remains. These features can influence your section plan, so learn them from the current official format page and practice the current interface. Do not prepare using legacy 10th Edition timing or question types as though they apply to the present exam.
Change or cancel carefully
GMAC policy does not allow appointment changes within 24 hours of the scheduled start, and a no-show forfeits the fee. Refund and rescheduling charges depend on timing and local rules. Review the current payment terms for the exact appointment before you schedule, and use the account or official support instructions to make a change. Do not assume that online and centre appointments have identical refund steps or that every cancellation receives a full refund.
After the test
Official results are usually available in three to five days, but can take up to 20. When the score is reportable, use mba.com to select the school or programme. Up to five reports can be sent at no cost within 48 hours of score availability; additional reports may involve a fee. A screenshot or printout is not an official report. Confirm the named programme in the score-recipient search and retain the submission record.
Finish by checking the score-delivery status and your application portal. The school’s processing time is separate from GMAC’s typical report delivery. If your application deadline is close, ask admissions which score evidence it needs and when it must arrive. Registration confirms an exam appointment; it does not submit an application or guarantee that the programme will accept the resulting score.
