GMAT appointments are rolling, not one annual exam date
GMAT appointments are offered year-round at test centres. Online testing is also available in many regions. Candidates use the mba.com account to search current dates, times and test-centre locations; appointment availability depends on location, delivery mode and remaining seats. GMAC says slots are generally available up to about six months ahead, although the actual search result is controlling. There is no single annual GMAT examination day or nationwide booking deadline.
Keep the GMAT appointment calendar separate from school application rounds. A business school might have Round 1, Round 2 or another deadline, while GMAT dates remain available throughout the year. The relevant deadline is when the programme requires the application and score, not a test date from an earlier intake. School deadlines may specify a time zone or require an official score by the closing time, so read the exact programme page.
Work backward from when each programme needs the score
GMAC says most official results are available in three to five days; some can take up to 20 days. Once the score becomes reportable, score reports can be sent through mba.com. GMAC says up to five reports are free when sent within 48 hours of score availability, and schools typically receive a submitted report within about eight hours. These are ordinary processing estimates, not guarantees that a school will attach the score to an application immediately.
Build a margin into your plan for appointment availability, result processing, score delivery and the school’s own handling time. If a deadline is near, ask admissions whether it needs the report by the application deadline or accepts an official result shortly afterward. Do not assume that a self-reported result or screenshot substitutes for an official GMAC report. Keep the submission confirmation and verify the programme appears among the selected recipients.
If you may retake the exam, account for GMAC’s waiting rule: a candidate must wait at least 16 days after an attempt before testing again. A retake also requires a new available appointment and additional time for result release. You can take the test up to five times in a rolling 12-month period across online and test-centre delivery, so plan a realistic number of attempts rather than relying on multiple close-together sittings.
Search for a date that fits your logistics
Sign in to mba.com and begin the registration flow to see live test-centre and online choices. Compare the appointment’s date and local time, location, delivery format and any special instructions. If a nearby centre has no convenient seat, GMAC advises searching alternate dates, times or locations. Online availability may help where offered, but first make sure the computer, internet, room and testing rules suit your setup.
Appointment availability can tighten during business-school application periods. Search early if you need a particular date, region or format, and check the account again before finalizing. A date displayed in a search is not reserved until the booking and payment are complete and the confirmation appears in your mba.com account. Save the confirmation so you can check the appointment and change policy later.
The public GMAC payment page uses a country selector because pricing, taxes and regulations depend on the test location or, for online delivery, the candidate’s location. It did not expose a readable static India amount in the source check dated 28 October 2026. Select the country, mode and appointment in the live registration flow to review the applicable amount. Do not rely on an old fee list or infer today’s price from another country.
Change or cancel only after checking the rules
GMAC policies state that an appointment cannot be changed within 24 hours of its start time and that a no-show forfeits the fee. Cancellation, refund and rescheduling charges depend on how far in advance the request is made and applicable local rules. The exact fee table can change. Review the current payment and policy pages before confirming, and check the account for the terms tied to your delivery mode. Do not assume that changing a centre appointment and changing an online appointment have identical options.
If you need accommodations, apply before scheduling. GMAC says approved accommodations cannot simply be attached to an already-booked standard appointment; follow the instructions in the approval decision. Build the additional processing time into your admissions calendar. If an emergency or missed test occurs, use the official support route for the case rather than assuming a routine refund.
A date-planning checklist
For every target programme, note its application round, deadline time zone, acceptable test edition and the date the official report must arrive. Then search appointments with enough room for the three-to-five-day usual score window, the possible longer delay, reporting and any retake interval. Confirm the ID and delivery requirements before paying. Once booked, save the appointment details and keep the school deadline in a separate calendar entry.
This approach avoids a common confusion: GMAT test dates are candidate-selected appointments, while admissions rounds are school-set deadlines. Check live mba.com availability for the first and the official programme page for the second. Neither should be projected from a prior year.
