The HTET 2026 exam dates are now official: June 13 and 14, 2026. The Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) confirmed the schedule on May 26, 2026, ending months of postponement uncertainty. Around 2.45 lakh candidates will sit for this state-level teacher eligibility test across 820 centres in Haryana. If you registered during the December 2025 window and have been waiting for the date, your wait is over. Here is everything confirmed, official, and actionable.
Who Conducts HTET and What It Covers
The Board of School Education Haryana, Bhiwani, runs HTET under the authority of the Haryana Government. The legal framework comes from National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines, making TET qualification mandatory for teaching positions in Haryana government and government-aided schools.
The exam tests three distinct teaching levels:
- Level I (PRT) - Primary Teacher for Classes I-V
- Level II (TGT) - Trained Graduate Teacher for Classes VI-VIII
- Level III (PGT) - Post Graduate Teacher for Classes IX-XII
You can appear for one, two, or all three levels. The certificate stays valid for a lifetime. This lifetime validity came through an NCTE amendment on 09/06/2021, replacing the earlier seven-year validity period with retrospective effect from 11/02/2011. BSEH has adopted this - once you qualify, you never need to take HTET again.
The Complete HTET 2026 Timeline - As It Actually Happened
The HTET 2026 cycle did not follow a predictable August-October notification pattern. The notification dropped on 24/12/2025, and the path from there to the confirmed exam dates has had several turns.
The exam was initially scheduled for January 17-18, 2026, then postponed. BSEH kept the official date under wraps until May 26, 2026, when the Chairman confirmed June 13-14 in a press briefing. The application window that closed on January 5, 2026 had drawn approximately 2.33 lakh registered candidates.
The June 13-14 Exam Schedule in Detail
BSEH conducts all three levels over two days in two shifts. Here is the confirmed shift allocation:
Note that this year PGT occupies the first day in the afternoon slot. The morning slot on Sunday goes to TGT, and PRT takes the Sunday afternoon shift. Arrive at your centre at least 90 minutes before the shift start time. BSEH mandates a 2-hour-10-minute advance reporting for security checks, biometric verification, and frisking. Late entry is not permitted under any circumstances.
Important new rule for 2026: If you leave more than 20 questions unattempted on the OMR sheet, BSEH will cancel your candidature immediately. This is a new anti-malpractice measure. Since there is no negative marking, attempt every one of the 150 questions.
Registration - What Happened and What You Need Now
The application window is closed. It ran from 24/12/2025 to 05/01/2026 through the official portal at bseh.org.in or htet.eapplynow.com. If you missed it, there is no re-opening currently announced. Watch bseh.org.in for any late application window - BSEH extended the deadline once already, so a second extension is not impossible but cannot be relied upon.
For those who did register, here is a checklist to confirm your application is in order:
- You received a registration number and password after filling the form.
- You uploaded scanned images of photograph (20-50 KB, JPEG, white background, 60% face visibility), signature (10-50 KB, JPEG), and left thumb impression (10-50 KB, JPEG).
- You paid the application fee online and downloaded the confirmation page.
- You used the correction window (04-05/01/2026) if any fields needed fixing.
If your confirmation page did not generate after payment, contact the Assistant Secretary (Special Exam Cell) at BSEH immediately with payment proof.
Application Fee - The Confirmed Structure
The fee structure for HTET 2026 follows the pattern established in previous cycles. Here is the official breakdown:
Fees are strictly non-refundable. Payment was online only - debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI.
Admit Card - When and How to Download
Admit cards are expected between June 6 and June 10, 2026 - roughly 3-7 days before the exam. Download from bseh.org.in or bsehhtet.com. BSEH does not send physical admit cards.
Download steps:
- Go to bseh.org.in and click the "HTET 2026 Admit Card" link.
- Enter your registration number and password or date of birth.
- Download the PDF. Print it in colour - BSEH requires a colour printout of the admit card.
- Affix the same passport-size photo you uploaded during registration.
On exam day, carry:
- Colour-printed HTET admit card
- One valid government photo ID (Aadhaar, voter ID, driving licence, passport, PAN card)
- The confirmation page (as a backup)
- A simple transparent ballpoint pen
Electronic devices - mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth earpieces - are banned. Even possession, not necessarily use, is treated as an unfair means violation. Leave them at home or in your vehicle.
Exam Pattern - Section-by-Section Breakdown
All three levels are offline pen-and-paper OMR tests. The structure is consistent: 150 MCQs, 150 marks, 2 hours 30 minutes, bilingual (English and Hindi), no negative marking.
Level I - PRT (Classes I-V)
Level II - TGT (Classes VI-VIII)
Level III - PGT (Classes IX-XII)
The subject-specific section in Levels II and III carries 60 marks - the single largest chunk. Your chosen subject determines those questions. For TGT, subjects include Science, Mathematics, English, Hindi, Social Studies, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Physical Education, Home Science, Art, Music, and Urdu. For PGT, subjects include Hindi, English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Commerce, Computer Science, Sociology, Psychology, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Urdu, Home Science, Physical Education, Music, and Fine Arts.
Key exam day rules:
- Use only a black ballpoint pen on the OMR sheet.
- Do not fold or make stray marks on the OMR sheet.
- Fill your roll number and test booklet number correctly; darken the ovals completely.
- Attempt all 150 questions - no negative marking, and the new rule penalises leaving 20+ blanks.

Qualifying Marks - The Numbers That Count
The qualifying thresholds have remained unchanged across the last five years (2020-2025).
The 5% relaxation applies only to Haryana-domiciled SC and differently-abled candidates. Candidates from other states in reserved categories must still meet the 60% threshold.
How Competitive Is HTET? A Reality Check
The 2025 HTET results, declared on 10/11/2025, give a sobering picture. Out of approximately 3.31 lakh candidates who appeared across 673 centres, only 14.14% qualified overall.
Level-wise pass percentages for 2025:
- Level I (PRT): 16.2% - 82,917 registered, about 66,000 appeared
- Level II (TGT): 16.4% - 2,01,517 registered, about 1,67,000 appeared
- Level III (PGT): 9.6% - 1,20,943 registered, about 1,00,559 appeared
PGT is consistently the toughest level. The subject-specific section demands postgraduate depth, and only about 1 in 10 candidates clears it.
For 2026, approximately 2.45 lakh candidates have registered - fewer than the 2025 cycle, but competition will remain intense. The qualifying marks are absolute, not percentile-based, so your score depends entirely on your own performance, not on how others perform.
Answer Key, Objection Process, and Results
Provisional answer key is published on bseh.org.in within a week after the exam. You can view the key and your recorded responses.
If you find a discrepancy, BSEH allows you to raise objections through the online portal. The objection fee is ₹1,000 per question challenged. The fee is non-refundable unless the objection is found valid, in which case the refund processes within three months of result declaration. Each objection must be supported with documentary justification - textbook references, standard sources - uploaded as a single PDF. The objection window typically stays open for 2-3 days after the answer key release.
After expert review, BSEH publishes the final answer key. Results are prepared based on this final key. The decision of the subject expert committee is final and binding. No re-evaluation or re-checking of OMR sheets is permitted.
Result declaration includes your section-wise marks, total score, and qualifying status. Qualified candidates must then complete biometric verification before receiving the eligibility certificate.
Biometric Verification - A Mandatory Step
BSEH requires biometric verification for all qualified candidates before issuing the HTET certificate. In the 2025 cycle, this was conducted district-wise across all 22 districts of Haryana from August 25-26, 2025. Candidates had to appear at designated centres with their original admit card and photo ID.
If you fail to complete biometric verification, your result is withheld. BSEH gives candidates three chances to appear for verification within one year of the result declaration. After three missed chances, you can still verify by paying ₹10,000 as a late verification fee. Beyond one year, the result stands automatically cancelled.
HTET Certificate - Lifetime Validity and What It Gets You
The NCTE amendment dated 09/06/2021 made the TET qualifying certificate valid for life. BSEH has implemented this for HTET. Your certificate, once issued, does not expire.
The certificate makes you eligible to apply for teaching vacancies. Actual recruitment happens through separate processes run by:
- Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) - For PRT and TGT posts. In 2026, HSSC is recruiting 1,456 PRT teachers for the Mewat cadre alone. The category-wise break-up: General - 582, SC - 285, BCA - 228, BCB - 155, EWS - 146.
- Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) - For PGT posts. In 2026, HPSC has advertised 1,672 PGT Computer Science vacancies (1,594 for rest of Haryana, 78 for Mewat cadre). The pay scale is ₹47,600-₹1,51,100 (Level 8) plus allowances.
To apply for these posts, you need the HTET certificate plus the educational qualifications specified in the recruitment notification.
Post-Exam: What Happens After You Qualify
- Download your scorecard from bseh.org.in when results are declared.
- Complete biometric verification at your designated district centre.
- Receive your HTET eligibility certificate - valid for a lifetime.
- Watch for recruitment notifications on hssc.gov.in (for PRT and TGT) and hpsc.gov.in (for PGT).
- Apply for vacancies that match your HTET level and subject.
- Clear the recruitment process - which may include a screening test, subject knowledge test, and interview.
- Produce your HTET certificate and original educational documents during document verification.

Verifying Official Information - Protect Yourself from Rumours
Fake date sheets and admission notices circulate aggressively on WhatsApp and Telegram before every HTET cycle. Protect yourself:
- Check bseh.org.in for every official communication - notification, admit card, answer key, result.
- Look for the PDF with BSEH letterhead and official signature. If it is an image forwarded on WhatsApp, it is not official.
- Use the official helpline for doubts: 01664-241611, 8938001176, 8958001178, or email [email protected], [email protected].
- Ignore third-party websites that claim to have "official" dates before BSEH publishes them.

Fees are non-refundable.
Q: Is there negative marking in HTET? A: No. There is no negative marking. Each correct answer earns 1 mark; incorrect answers carry no penalty.
