State Common Entrance Test Cell, Government of Maharashtra
You sit down to apply and the portal demands an APAAR ID you’ve never heard of. Or you upload your photograph, only to learn the portal expects 50 mm × 50 mm, not the passport-size dimensions you used for every other exam. Or worse - you pay, submit, and then see the correction window open two days later, but the fields you need to fix are locked.
The MAH-M-Arch-CET 2026 registration window hasn’t opened yet. The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, had not released the postgraduate M-Arch CET brochure as of mid-June 2026. You can’t register today. But you can prepare so precisely that when the portal does open - likely with a 3-to-4-week window - you glide through in one sitting and your application sails past document verification without a single revert.
This guide draws directly on the 2026 information brochures and official notices already published by the same CET Cell for MHT-CET, MAH-MBA/MMS-CET, and MAH-MCA-CET [s:g1][s:g2][s:g3][s:g4][s:g5]. Every procedural detail - Aadhaar authentication, APAAR ID verification, DigiLocker integration, photograph specifications, edit-window rules, and the helpline infrastructure - is taken from live 2026 CET Cell documentation. When the M-Arch CET brochure arrives, cross-check against it. Until then, this is the closest you can get to a rehearsal.
MAH-M-Arch-CET is the Maharashtra Master of Architecture Common Entrance Test. It is the state-level gateway for admission to first-year MArch programmes in government, aided, and unaided architecture colleges across Maharashtra. The CET Cell conducts the exam once a year, and admission proceeds through a Centralised Admission Process (CAP) modelled on what the cell runs for engineering, pharmacy, and management courses.
A technically flawless registration doesn’t guarantee a seat. But a flawed one - blurry photo, certificate mismatch, expired Non-Creamy Layer document - can disqualify you before you even write the exam. The CET Cell’s 2026 brochures are explicit about this: incomplete or incorrect applications “will be summarily rejected,” and suppressed information leads to debarment at any later stage [s:g1]. That language appears verbatim in the MHT-CET and MBA/MMS-CET brochures. It will almost certainly appear in the M-Arch CET brochure, too.
Since late December 2025, the State CET Cell has mandated Aadhaar authentication, APAAR ID verification through DigiLocker, and strict document-readiness protocols for every CET it conducts [s:g1][s:g2][s:g3]. The official portal is cetcell.mahacet.org, though general notifications appear at www.mahacet.org. The help desk can be reached at:
cet help desk - 2026 @ maharashtra cet. orgThe cell runs a ticketing system for grievances and has opened edit windows for multiple 2026 CETs - MHT-CET’s ran from 5th to 7th March 2026; MBA-CET’s from 27th February to 2nd March 2026 [s:g6][s:g7]. If an edit window is offered for M-Arch CET, it will likely be a 2-3 day, one-time facility. The cell has been consistent about this across exams.
Do not wait for the notification to get these right.
When the MAH-M-Arch-CET 2026 link appears on cetcell.mahacet.org, click “New Registration.” You will be asked for:
After OTP verification, the system generates a unique Application Number. Write it down. Store it digitally. You will need it for every subsequent login, edit window, admit card download, and counselling step.
Log in and navigate to your course-specific form. Based on the MHT-CET and MBA/MMS-CET 2026 templates, you will likely fill:
Accuracy is non-negotiable. The cell’s official language: “Failure of the candidate in entering full and correct information ... would lead to disqualification ... even at later date” [s:g1].
This is the step where most rejections occur. The MHT-CET 2026 brochure specifies photograph requirements that differ significantly from older cycles:
| Document | Specification (per 2026 MHT-CET Brochure) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Photograph | 2-inch × 2-inch (50 mm × 50 mm), colour, background plain light coloured or white, 80% face coverage, eyes open, neutral expression, no shadows. File size: minimum 100 KB to maximum 5 MB. Format: JPG/JPEG. | Not the 3.5×4.5 cm size used by JEE/NEET. Confirm in the M-Arch brochure; the CET Cell may standardise this across exams. |
| Signature | Sign on white paper with black ink pen. Scan and crop. File size: 10-20 KB typical across CETs; exact limits to be confirmed. | Must match the signature you produce on exam day. No capital letters. |
| Category certificate (if applicable) | PDF, typically 50-300 KB. Issued by competent Maharashtra authority. | For OBC-NCL, the Non-Creamy Layer certificate must be valid up to 31/03/2027 (the date used across all 2026 CET CAP rounds). |
| BArch degree/marksheets | PDF, 50-300 KB. All semesters/years. | If you have provisional certificate, upload that plus mark sheets. |
| Domicile certificate (if claiming Maharashtra quota) | PDF, as per state format. | Required for Maharashtra State candidature Type A/B/C/D/E as per defined rules. |
| PwD certificate (if applicable) | PDF, with minimum 40% benchmark disability. | UDID card also acceptable. |
Photographs with caps, sunglasses, tinted glasses, or shadows will be rejected. Religious headwear is permitted only if the face from chin to forehead and both edges are fully visible. The cell’s guideline: “head coverings are not permitted except for religious reasons, but the facial features ... must be clearly shown” [s:g1].
Scanning pro-tip: Set scanner to 200 dpi, true colour, crop to edges. Name files simply: photo.jpg, sign.jpg, 10th_marksheet.pdf, caste_cert.pdf. If file sizes exceed limits, compress using MS Paint or an offline tool - never compromise legibility for a smaller file size.
The MAH-M-Arch-CET 2026 application fee has not been announced. In the 2026 cycle, other postgraduate CETs charged:
If the M-Arch CET fee follows this range, open category candidates can expect roughly ₹1,300-₹1,500. Payment is accepted only through online modes: debit/credit cards, net banking, UPI, mobile wallets. No offline challan. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
After payment, wait for the confirmation screen. If the amount is debited but the status doesn’t update, wait 15-20 minutes and check again. Multiple rapid transactions can lead to duplicate debits. Refunds for duplicates require formal verification and can take weeks.
Review every field. Then review again. The MHT-CET 2026 brochure warns that once submitted, corrections depend entirely on whether an edit window opens - and that “no edit facility will be available for candidates registering during [late] periods” [s:g6]. If you submit late during a special extension window, you lose correction rights.
Download the confirmation page immediately. Print two copies. Save the PDF to cloud storage. This page is proof of submission and will be required during document verification and counselling.
The CET Cell issued formal edit facilities for MHT-CET (5-7 March 2026) and MBA/MMS-CET (27 February-2 March 2026) [s:g6][s:g7]. For MHT-CET, the editable fields were: candidate name, date of birth, photograph, signature, gender, add group, and add second attempt. Fields like registered mobile number and email ID were locked.
If MAH-M-Arch-CET offers a similar window, expect a 2-3 day period immediately after the registration deadline. The framework is likely:
When the edit window closes, no further changes are entertained by email, post, or in-person visit. The CET Cell’s language: “no further modifications will be allowed after the deadline passes” [s:g7]. Treat the edit window as a one-shot precision tool, not a leisurely review session.
Don’t wait for the brochure. Start scanning these now:
Scan at 200-300 dpi. Save backups in a dedicated folder. This upfront organisation prevents session time-outs and last-minute scrambling.
Once your application is accepted, here’s the likely sequence - based on how other 2026 CETs are progressing and the CAP structure used by the CET Cell for engineering and management admissions [s:g9][s:g10]:
cetcell.mahacet.org, typically 5-7 days before the exam. Verify photograph, signature, name spellings, and exam centre at once. Discrepancies must be reported to the help desk within hours. The CET Cell communicates through www.mahacet.org for general notifications and cetcell.mahacet.org for candidate login and admit cards. It does not send personal emails for every update. The primary channels:
www.mahacet.org → CET (Examination) Portal A.Y. 2026-27Do not rely on forwarded WhatsApp messages or unverified social media posts. A calendar reminder every Monday morning to check the portal will save you from missing a short, 3-week registration window.
