Start with the exact programme and admission year
Scholarship eligibility at DoMS depends on the specific MBA route, candidate category, domicile and the current call for applications. DoMS lists both a general MBA and MBA Tourism Management (SS), while the scholarship terms printed in an official admissions fee document are tied to a particular academic year. A past fee table should not be read as confirmation that the same award, income limit or application process remains unchanged.
Anna University’s 2025-26 MBA fee schedule for the College of Engineering Guindy contains a specific note: the Post Matric Scholarship is applicable only for the MBA (Tourism Management) programme for SC/ST students. The note applies to that named programme and the 2025-26 schedule. It does not say that the same support applies to every DoMS MBA candidate, and it is not a current-cycle award notice for 2027-28. The same schedule says applicants in specified SC/SCA/ST categories must submit an original income certificate at admission to avail of PMSS, with a separate note for converted Christian candidates. Read the full notice and current instructions before applying.
The key practical step is to identify the offered programme code on your admission/allotment documents, then compare it with the scholarship’s exact wording. Do not assume that a fee reduction shown in a table is a cash scholarship, or that a general Anna University scheme automatically covers every university department or self-supporting course.
University and government schemes to check
Anna University’s SC/ST Cell scholarship page publishes a scholarship information page listing state and central schemes. It includes a Post Matric Scholarship for SC students, a Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for ST students, and other schemes for eligible groups. The page describes criteria such as community, course level, income and institution eligibility. These are scheme-level criteria; they do not confirm that a particular applicant has been selected or that the DoMS MBA is covered in the current award year.
The page also describes the National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students for graduate and postgraduate study in identified institutions and professional fields that include management. Applicants should verify the current scheme notification, list of eligible institutions, course designation, income ceiling and application window on the official scholarship portal before relying on it. The university page includes older notes and figures, so the current ministry notification takes precedence if terms differ.
Other central scholarship listings may cover postgraduate or professional students who meet their own requirements, including disability or minority-category criteria. Eligibility conditions can depend on domicile, course recognition, family income, prior awards, academic marks and whether the student is already receiving another scholarship. This page does not claim that every listed scheme is open to DoMS students. Ask the University’s scholarship office or the designated department contact whether the exact course and admission category qualify, and keep the written response with your application records.
DoMS or Anna University may issue course-specific notices during admission. Check the current department, Centre for Admissions and SC/ST Cell pages, and the scholarship portal named in each notice. A scheme appearing in a university directory is a lead to investigate, not proof that funds are available for this intake.
Documents and application checklist
Before submitting an application, assemble the documents named in the current notice. Depending on the scheme, the authority may ask for a community or disability certificate, income certificate, domicile proof, admission or allotment order, bank details, fee receipt, academic records and an active institutional enrolment record. DoMS applicants should verify whether the scheme requires a certificate at the time of admission, a separate portal application, or both. Do not rely on a prior year’s checklist when a new notice is available.
For the Tourism Management (SS) PMSS note in Anna University’s 2025-26 fee schedule, the printed instruction specifically asks certain TN SC/SCA/ST candidates to submit the original income certificate during admission. The schedule lists the Tourism Management programme in the same fee table as the regular MBA, but its scholarship footnote limits this PMSS applicability to MBA (Tourism Management). If your category or programme name differs, ask for confirmation rather than carrying the footnote across.
Check deadlines, certificate format and the portal before uploading. Save a copy of the submitted application, acknowledgement number and any correspondence. If the scholarship is credited after fee payment, do not subtract it from the amount due unless the current fee statement instructs you to do so. Confirm the refundability and timing of each deposit separately; a scholarship and a refundable institutional deposit are different items.
The official university pages provide scheme descriptions, but the materials reviewed here do not establish a current 2027-28 DoMS scholarship calendar or a guaranteed award amount. Verify the current notice with the University before budgeting.
Questions to ask before budgeting
Ask whether the scholarship covers tuition, a one-time fee or living costs; whether it is paid to the student or adjusted against the institution bill; and whether renewal depends on attendance, marks or continued eligibility. Confirm whether the course is regular or self-supporting in the scheme’s terminology, whether the named DoMS MBA route is included, and whether the support can be combined with another award.
Ask which authority receives the application and who certifies enrolment. The 2025-26 CEG fee schedule’s PMSS footnote concerns MBA (Tourism Management) and SC/ST students; the University SC/ST Cell’s scheme page lists a broader set of state and central programmes. Those documents answer different questions. One is a course-specific fee notice for a named year; the other is a directory of schemes and their general criteria. Neither is a substitute for the current scheme’s selection notice.
If the fee schedule, scholarship portal and counselling notice use different programme names, ask the University to confirm the mapping in writing. Do not assume that “MBA,” “MBA (Tourism Management) (SS),” and an unrelated self-supporting programme share the same scholarship terms. Use only the amount and eligibility written in the current official notice for your year and category.
