Institute support includes means-linked schemes
IIT (ISM)'s Dean Students' Welfare (DSW) page lists Merit-cum-Means (MCM), Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW), Benevolent Fund Scholarship (BFS), and specified refunds or allowances for SC/ST students under Government of India norms. It names the regular two-year MBA among programmes covered by MCM and BFS. It does not date these descriptions to 2026-27 or 2027-28, publish a current application window, or give complete MBA-specific selection and renewal rules.
The displayed MCM wording needs careful reading. DSW says the award is for the top 35% of enrolled students on a merit-cum-means basis. It then describes tuition-fee refund, or freeship, for the top 35%, and a ₹1,000 monthly scholarship for up to 10 months for the top 25%, in addition to tuition refund. The page does not explain how these overlapping groups are ranked or how merit and means are combined. Treat these as descriptions of the page, not guaranteed individual entitlements; ask DSW for the current MBA rules and income, merit, documentation and continuation conditions.
BFS is described as a partial tuition-fee refund subject to income criteria and includes the regular two-year MBA. TFW is stated for regular undergraduate courses, so this page does not establish it as an MBA benefit. DSW also lists refunds of mess subsidy and hostel seat rent, plus pocket allowance for SC/ST students under Government of India norms. It does not state current MBA-specific amounts or application steps for these items.
Sponsored awards are a separate set of possibilities
The DSW page separates scholarships sponsored by the ISM Alumni Association (North America) from scholarships sponsored by other organisations. It lists named funds in both groups and displays totals of 59 and 20 scholarships respectively. The page does not establish that every award applies to MBA students in the current cycle, nor does it give each award's value, selection criteria or current allocation.
Use this as a directory to ask about, not as a funding promise. Confirm with DSW which awards apply to the MBA cohort, whether the displayed counts describe current allocations, and what programme, category, income, merit and renewal conditions apply. A sponsor name by itself does not prove eligibility.
Government schemes use their own eligibility rules
The DSW page names central schemes for students with disabilities, college and university students, SC and ST students, and other groups. It also lists state routes including Jharkhand e-Kalyan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar and Rajasthan schemes. This list does not establish that every route covers every MBA student.
Eligibility, domicile, category, income limits, course coverage, deadlines and documents are set by the relevant government or agency. DSW directs students seeking group 4 government or other-body schemes to the respective portals. Check that the exact programme and your circumstances qualify on the official scheme portal before budgeting around an award; the institute page does not reproduce those scheme-specific terms.
Verify the cycle before relying on an award
For scholarship groups 1 to 3 on the DSW page (institute, alumni-sponsored and other-sponsored), application notices are to be circulated by email. For group 4 government and other-body schemes, students are directed to the respective portals. The page does not give a current scholarship deadline, an MBA application form, a full document checklist or a definitive award schedule.
Check your institute email and ask DSW whether a notice has been issued for your MBA intake. Confirm the academic year, programme eligibility, income and merit tests, selection ranking, amount, continuation rules, required documents and refund or payment timing. For a government scheme, verify these points on its agency portal. Do not assume an award will arrive before fees are due unless the current notice says so.
The page lists the DSW contact as +91-7991168516 and [email protected]. Confirm contact details in the current institute directory before sending documents. The page was viewed on 1 November 2026 and did not establish 2027-28 scholarship terms or deadlines.
