What the published scheme can reduce
IKG-PTU's latest published merit notification applies at the university's Main Campus and constituent campuses from academic session 2026-27 onwards. It reduces tuition fee by 25% or 50% for eligible students; it does not say that the award covers other charges. The notification is dated 25 March 2026 and supersedes the university's 19 May 2025 scheme. It is the latest rule located for this review, not a separately announced 2027-28 schedule. Applicants planning a 2027 intake should confirm that the university has not issued a later amendment before treating the award as part of their budget.
The campus boundary matters. The notification names the Main Campus and constituent campuses. It does not establish that the same award automatically applies at every affiliated or autonomous college. Students applying to those institutions should use the scholarship notice issued for their own college and campus rather than assume that a university-campus award follows affiliation.
Entry awards: match the threshold to your programme
For regular-entry B.Tech. and B.Arch. students entering the first semester, the notification sets two marks bands:
The thresholds are not interchangeable. A student entering B.Tech. or B.Arch. regularly needs 80% for the lower award band, while a student in another UG/PG programme or entering laterally can qualify from 70%. The notice does not explain rounding, tie handling, which exact qualifying examination result is used for every programme, or how marks from different boards are normalised. Ask the campus admissions office how it will verify your marks before relying on a borderline percentage.
For B.Arch., the university says the qualifying percentage is the average of Class 12 marks and NATA marks. Do not compare the Class 12 percentage alone with the stated bands. The notification gives no further averaging or rounding method. GATE-qualified M.Tech. candidates are directed to the applicable AICTE norms; the university notice does not state a separate amount or threshold, so check the current AICTE rule and the campus's implementation before estimating this award.
Continuing students: a semester merit list
From the second semester, and from the fourth semester for lateral-entry students, the university prepares a fresh list each semester using the previous semester's result. To enter the pool, a student must have at least 7.0 CGPA. Ranking is conducted class-wise by campus, degree, specialisation and batch. The notice says PMSS and TFW students are included in the class when the top 20% is determined.
Among the top 20% of total admitted students in that class, the top 10% receive 50% of tuition fee and the next 10% receive 25%. These are rank bands, not guaranteed awards for every student who meets the 7.0 CGPA floor: the floor establishes minimum eligibility, while the semester merit list determines whether the student's position falls inside an award band. The notice does not publish a fixed number of awards per programme or a tie-break rule. A student's prior-semester CGPA alone therefore cannot establish the award without the relevant class list and applicable ranking method.
There is a specific overlap rule. A student already receiving TFW or PMS who falls in the top 10% is not granted the additional merit scholarship, and that benefit is not transferred to the next student. The notice also says a student may receive only one scholarship or freeship scheme at a time. It does not explain how this one-scheme rule is applied to every possible combination of external awards, so students with another aid offer should get a written answer from the campus before assuming benefits can be stacked.
Application, payment and what to confirm
The notification sets eligibility and award calculation but does not provide a scholarship application form, submission route, document checklist, deadline, renewal form or appeal process. For entry awards, contact the admissions office for the exact campus and programme and ask how marks will be verified and when the award decision is made. For continuing awards, ask the department about the semester merit list, class grouping, CGPA record and the date by which any discrepancy must be raised. These are confirmation steps, not application instructions stated in the notification.
The university requires good conduct and discipline. It says the scholarship is credited directly to the student's bank account on the recommendation of the Head of Department; it is not deducted from the semester fee. Budget on the published fee bill first, then treat the scholarship as a later credit rather than reducing the amount due at registration. The notice does not say when the credit arrives or specify bank-document requirements, so verify those details with the campus finance office.
Before accepting an offer, ask the relevant campus to confirm in writing: that your campus and programme fall within this university-campus scheme; the correct entry route and qualifying marks basis; the applicable award band; whether a later circular has changed the 2026-27-onwards rules for your intake; how the award interacts with PMS, TFW or other aid; and the payment timing and documentation. Keep the answer with your fee estimate. Until IKG-PTU publishes a later intake-specific notice, the 2026-27 notification is a useful eligibility reference, but it cannot establish an unannounced 2027-28 deadline or guarantee an award.
