IBS Mumbai offers a two-year full-time Postgraduate Program in Management (PGPM), not the MBA offered at some other IBS campuses. For the 2027-29 intake, the official IBS Admissions pages currently publish the IBSAT 2026 route and a 2026-27 calendar. The application window and selection dates are marked tentative, and the 2027-29 batch has not been separately named in the material reviewed. Treat those dates as the latest announced reference, not as a final schedule for your batch.
First check whether the Mumbai programme fits
The IBS common admissions FAQ lists the two-year full-time MBA at Hyderabad, Dehradun, Jaipur and Bengaluru, and the two-year full-time PGPM at Ahmedabad, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. This distinction matters: an entrance route shared across the campuses does not make their awards, fees or programme names interchangeable. IBS Mumbai is one of the independent professional institutes offering PGPM; the FAQ says Mumbai is neither affiliated to nor an off-campus centre of a university. Use the Mumbai PGPM details when applying here, and do not use an MBA-specific campus condition as proof of a Mumbai degree.
For MBA and PGPM applicants, the published eligibility rule is graduation in any discipline with at least 50%, English as the medium of instruction, and a minimum of 15 years of education in a 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 pattern. The aggregate is calculated across all subjects and all years. The FAQ says final-year students can apply if they complete every graduation requirement, including practicals, viva, and assignments, by 31 May 2027. Applicants whose graduation was not taught in English must submit TOEFL, NELT or IELTS results by that same date.
There is a date conflict to resolve before relying on the document checklist: the FAQ says proof of graduation is due by 1 November 2027, while the separate Admission Process page says 1 November 2026. The latter date is already past as of 4 November 2026 and does not align with the FAQ's 2027 completion condition. The pages agree on the 31 May 2027 final-year completion and English-test deadlines, and say eligibility scrutiny begins from August 2027. Contact the IBS Admissions Office and follow the batch-specific bulletin or written instruction for the proof-submission date; do not assume the older/past date has silently been extended.
Choose an entrance route
The published common application accepts either IBSAT 2026 or a valid score from GMAT, CAT, NMAT by GMAC, or XAT from 2024 onwards. The Admission Process page explicitly maps the alternative tests to campus programmes: IBS Mumbai is in the PGPM group, so its route is PGPM. The pages do not give a separate Mumbai cutoff for these tests. Meeting the published exam route is not itself an admission offer; shortlisted applicants proceed to the selection process.
IBSAT 2026 is described as a two-hour computer-based multiple-choice test with 140 questions and no negative marking. Its four reported sections are Verbal Ability (50), Reading Comprehension (30), Quantitative Aptitude (30), and Data Adequacy and Data Interpretation (30). The official FAQ also describes a remote-proctored test that can be taken from home. Prepare across all four sections and check the current test instructions in the bulletin before booking, since delivery instructions can change between cycles.
The IBSAT 2026 application is available online and offline. Online applicants receive an application number and password after successful payment. The FAQ says offline forms are available at IBS FTP branches; it lists an application fee of ₹1,800. The Admissions Process page describes purchasing the IBSAT Bulletin online or from marketing offices for the same amount. Check the live registration page and payment instructions before submitting; an application fee is separate from programme tuition and is not a Mumbai fee estimate.
Work backward from the latest published calendar
The separate Admission Process page gives a tentative application period from 1 July to the third week of December 2026, IBSAT in December 2026, results in the first week of January 2027, selection briefings from the second through fourth week of January, and the selection process in the second or third week of February at IBS Hyderabad. The FAQ is more specific on two points: apply before 19 December 2026 if you intend to append an entrance score later, and update scores online by 31 January 2027; it says the result is expected in the first week of January and selection briefings in the second week. These published schedules are not perfectly aligned. The detailed invitation and your candidate login should control your allotted date and location.
At the time of this guide, the stated December 2026 application and test dates are upcoming. If you plan to apply with a CAT, XAT, GMAT or NMAT score rather than sit IBSAT, submit the application within the stated window and use the score-update facility only if your examination result is not yet available. Do not wait for an alternative-test result past the application deadline: the FAQ's score-update allowance is a separate step, ending 31 January 2027. Save the payment confirmation, application number and password, and verify that the correct test and score are visible in your applicant account.
Because the published dates are labelled tentative and the FAQ and admissions page differ on some details, check the official Admissions page and FAQ before each action. The application page is linked from those official pages. If your circumstances depend on a deadline exception or on the graduation-proof date, ask the Admissions Office at [email protected] or 040-23440963 and retain its written response.
What happens after shortlisting
The published selection process for shortlisted IBSAT 2026 or accepted-test applicants is held at IBS Hyderabad in February 2027. The Admissions Process page describes a Micro Presentation and Personal Interview. The FAQ says final selection considers those two performances and past academic performance in Class X, Class XII and graduation. It does not publish a numeric scoring formula or a guaranteed interview threshold on the pages reviewed. Prepare to explain your academic choices, work or project experience, reasons for choosing the Mumbai PGPM, and how you communicate a concise position during the Micro Presentation; these are preparation suggestions, not additional official scoring criteria.
The official page says candidates are invited after shortlisting, but it does not state a campus-specific number of seats, a minimum CAT percentile, or a promised call for any score. Do not treat an online cutoff claim or another campus's MBA requirement as an official Mumbai PGPM threshold. Wait for the institute's candidate-specific communication and read the venue, reporting time, documents and selection instructions on the call letter.
After an offer: confirm the programme and total cost
The FAQ's currently displayed fee table lists ₹9,09,000 for IBS Mumbai for two years and a refundable ₹10,000 caution deposit with the first instalment. The Admissions page separately lists ₹4.545 lakh per year for Mumbai and the other PGPM campuses. These are published programme-fee references on the current site, not a confirmed 2027-29 fee notice. Before accepting an offer, request the written fee schedule for your batch, instalment dates, refund rules and any other payable charges. Living expenses are extra, and the FAQ says hostel accommodation is not available at Mumbai; arrange local housing independently and confirm current campus guidance.
Applicant checklist
- Confirm that your target is IBS Mumbai's PGPM and that you meet the graduation, 50%, English-medium and 15-year education rules.
- Choose IBSAT 2026 or a listed accepted test score from 2024 onwards. Check the bulletin for current test delivery and registration details.
- Apply by the date shown in the live portal. If updating a later score, note the FAQ's separate 31 January 2027 limit and retain your application credentials.
- Ask the Admissions Office to reconcile the conflicting graduation-proof dates, and use the written batch instruction.
- Monitor email and the applicant portal for shortlisting, briefing and selection details. Attend the Micro Presentation and Personal Interview if invited.
- Before paying a programme instalment, obtain the batch-specific 2027-29 fee and refund schedule. Do not rely on a fee row that the institute has not tied to your offer.
What remains unconfirmed: the reviewed pages do not label the currently displayed schedule as the final 2027-29 calendar, resolve the proof-of-graduation date conflict, or state a Mumbai-specific selection cutoff. Confirm these points from the live bulletin and Admissions Office before making a time-sensitive decision.
