Start with the exact programme
IIM Udaipur’s support is not one uniform scholarship that automatically reduces every programme’s fee. Its pages describe different arrangements for the two-year MBA and BBA, while FAQs for the one-year MBA in Digital Enterprise Management (DEM), the one-year MBA in Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM), and the Executive MBA (EMBA) give different answers. Before estimating what you will pay, match the support to the programme and ask whether the current intake has the same terms. A scholarship reduces a cost subject to its rules; an education loan is borrowed money that must be repaid.
The two-year MBA pages describe need-based financial assistance, ministry scholarships and a named corporate scholarship. The BBA page sets out separate merit and means-based tuition reductions. These rules should not be transferred across courses. MBA financial assistance · BBA fees and scholarships
Two-year MBA: need-based tuition assistance
For the two-year MBA, students whose annual household income is below ₹6 lakh may apply for institute financial assistance. The fee page also says students above that income may apply if they can demonstrate severe financial difficulty. Meeting the income condition makes a student eligible to apply, not certain to receive an award: IIMU says the amount is decided after assessing need.
The assistance is described as a tuition waiver within the MBA fee. It is not described as a fixed cash grant or an automatic waiver of hostel, mess, deposits, travel or other expenses. Interested students must submit the online Financial Assistance Application Form. The page does not state a current deadline or guarantee a particular waiver amount, so use the application form and current instructions from the MBA office rather than budgeting an award before it is approved.
IIMU says a student may take either institute financial assistance or scholarships offered by ministries. That restriction concerns these two aid routes; the page does not explain whether the same rule applies to every corporate award. Do not assume that awards can be combined. Two-year MBA: ministry and corporate scholarships
IIMU directs MBA students to Government of India scholarship details through the National Scholarship Portal. Its admissions portal lists the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for Scheduled Caste students, the National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of Scheduled Tribe students, the merit-cum-means scheme for minority communities, and the Top Class Education scholarship for students with disabilities. These are separate schemes with their own authorities and eligibility rules. Check the relevant ministry’s current notice, application window, documentation and whether IIMU or the specific MBA programme is eligible before relying on the institute’s list. The portal’s list is not itself an award confirmation. IIMU MBA scholarship page · IIMU admissions portal
The MBA scholarship page also describes the Mirae Asset Foundation (MAF) Scholarship for meritorious and needy first- and second-year MBA students whose combined family income is below ₹8 lakh. It states an award of ₹5 lakh per student and says shortlisted candidates are interviewed by MAF. This is competitive selection, not an automatic payment for every eligible student. Confirm the current application route and dates with IIMU before applying. The page does not give a current deadline or describe a guaranteed number of awards. MAF Scholarship details
BBA: annual merit and means-based tuition reductions
The BBA page sets out a different model. From Year 2 onward, students in the top quartile of academic performance receive a 50% reduction in the next academic year’s tuition. IIMU applies it as a fee reduction for the succeeding year, rather than refunding tuition already paid.
The means-based scholarship does not use a universal income ceiling. Each year, IIMU ranks enrolled students on a verified family-income spectrum; students in the bottom quartile are eligible for a 50% tuition reduction for that same academic year. Students must apply again every year and submit fresh income documentation. The page says one year’s award does not guarantee an award in the following year because eligibility depends on that cohort’s income distribution.
IIMU’s BBA page defines family income broadly: it includes the candidate, parents, spouse, and siblings or children under 18, and income from sources such as salary, agriculture, business and profession. It describes merit and means awards as cumulative when a student qualifies for both in the same year from Year 2 onward. Under the example on the page, merit reduces the amount paid up front by half and means-based support refunds half of that paid amount, producing an effective 75% reduction in that year’s tuition. Treat this as the described BBA calculation, not as a reduction in hostel, living or other costs.
The BBA page notes that fees may change and tells applicants to contact admissions for current information. These rules are what the page states; confirm the next intake’s application process and fee basis before making a 2027-28 budget. IIMU BBA fees and scholarship policy
DEM, GSCM and EMBA: no institute scholarship stated
The DEM and GSCM FAQs say IIM Udaipur does not offer scholarships for its one-year MBA programmes. They point applicants to education loans from banks, which may cover tuition and much of the programme expense. The statement is specific to these two one-year programmes and the FAQ pages reviewed; it should not be extended to other degrees without a programme-specific notice. DEM FAQ · GSCM FAQ
The EMBA FAQ answers “No” to whether the programme offers a scholarship. It separately says several banks offer education loans and directs candidates to the admission office or loan scheme document on the fee page. A loan can help pay a bill but is not a tuition waiver. Check the lender’s current interest rate, collateral or co-applicant requirements, repayment schedule and any subsidy conditions directly with the bank; IIMU’s FAQ does not specify those loan terms. How to apply and verify the amount
For the two-year MBA, start with the online financial-assistance form if you have financial need, and separately check the National Scholarship Portal for government schemes. For the MAF scholarship, confirm the current application route and interview process with the programme office. For BBA support, prepare current family-income documents and check the annual application instructions; means-based support requires a fresh assessment each year. Keep the award notice and revised fee statement, and confirm whether the reduction is applied before payment or refunded after payment.
Ask the admissions team these questions before accepting an offer or using a loan to cover the gap:
- Which scholarship or waiver applies to the programme and cohort in your offer?
- What family income definition and documents are required, and by what date?
- Is the award a tuition reduction, reimbursement or loan, and does it cover any non-tuition charges?
- Can it be combined with another named scholarship, ministry scheme or external award?
- When will the final award be confirmed, and what amount should you pay before that decision?
The official pages reviewed do not provide a current deadline for every scheme, and they do not establish scholarship rules for every IIMU programme. Confirm the latest terms with the programme office and scheme administrator rather than treating eligibility as a guaranteed award. IIMU contact details · MBA fees and financial assistance
